  • A video on how to change and check the oil on a 1996 Ford E-350 Econoline van with the 7.5L (big block 460) engine. Its quite easy to do and doesn’t even require lifting the vehicle due to the ground clearance. I hope this video was helpful and thanks for watching!

I had a question. If i have a 96 e350 and i need to change the solenoid sensor in the transmission - do you think it could be a bad idea to change that bc of that "change vs do not change" transmission fluid debate

If you have a. bad solenoid, you don't really have a choice.

it depends on how bad the fluid is. if its completely black and never serviced I would be worried about the transmission just in general. if it's red and serviced regularly should be no problem. I would always avoid flushes on older transmissions, but just drain and fill the pan. you could also just put the old fluid back in if you really wanted too. I also like Lucas transmission fix additive. If the old nasty fluid is keeping the transmission still working than that stuff will definitely work if you want to change the fluid. My 4runner trans fluid was a bit neglected but I changed it a few times, ever since I had that vehicle I would get some hard shifts. not crazy bad but not the best, no slipping or anything. I used that in the trans with a fluid change a year or 2 ago, shifts way smoother, no issues. I'm going to use it in my van as well when I change the fluid but the fluid in the van is nice and red, it was always serviced, just get a hard shift once in a while. I would also change your filter either way while you in there.

I have a 7.5 L actually. pretty rare in these vans it seems I never find the 7.5 in the junk yard only 5.8L usually
