  • Last time I tested out the Mucar CDE900 scan tool but recently they came out with a better version which is the Mucar CDE900 Pro. They sent me this to try out and make a video. I thoroughly tested it out and reported my findings. It can upgrade to a full-function scan tool including bi-directional commands but does cost extra after buying the device. This is also a good tutorial on how to use the device. I hope this video was helpful and thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing this new tool! It appears that you can spend, currently, $280 for the tool, full system diagnostics with 28 reset services for every vehicle for life of the tool. It sounds like a good deal depending on it's depth. This tool would be phenomenal if it included network topology mapping.
After reviewing it's specifications, this unit needs more RAM. 2GB of memory isn't enough.

      @4WheelKid  Před 5 měsíci

no problem! yeah not bad price to make it a pretty good scan tool all around scan tool you don't have to pay a yearly subscritpion for. yeah the network topology mapping would be nice. need to go up to a big tablet in the $1000 price range to get that.
yeah that would explain all the intense lag

I just got my a few day ago. It's doesn't look like anything like that. Software have a lot misspelled, data stream doesn't show all data informations... i updated the current version software but still didn't work. I bought the full package and the screen layout is not even updated. Very messy layout. Your version is very clean... thank you for the information.
What is the version of your software? My doesn't have those features.

Hmm... that's interesting. I have this unit too. I got it last summer/fall.
It just updated today, in fact, but I think the update may have only been the single vehicle package. I'm not sure it was the main OS.
But my screen looks like his, except I don't have the reset button and those extra buttons that are package specific.
I tried the streaming earlier today and it was fast.
So now I wonder if the lag he's seeing might be related to the screen recorder being activated.
Recording a screen like that in real time is CPU intensive. He should try it without recording to compare.
Also consider that the older, OBD1 is has much slower transfer rate than the "newer" OBD2. Also the number of wires (that are selected when connecting).
a 16-wire connector can communicate much faster than 8, 6 or 3 wire.
Even then, cars use OBD2 there can be differences between manufacturers, even though the protocols have been standardized.
How software in a scanner handles the data, can be very different between scanner makes.

The new update they released had disabled the screen shot and Screen Recorder. New released version V1.2.3 released date 2024-03-15.
Looks like not all devices connected to the same server.

@@YouDontDoWhatIDo Ok, I was curious, so I just did 2 things.
I checked the version and surprisingly, it's V1.2.2 (no date stamp, which is interesting)
So with this version, the screen recorder is there and when selected, the little play button and counter appear.
Oh, a note on that for anyone who wants to use that, if it's in your way, just press and hold on the numbers (to the right) and slide it around the screen to wherever you want it. The camera icon does that too.
So while I was running some scans and testing, I had the recorder running.
I did about 8 or so minutes.
When I pressed the square, it did pop up with the filename, allowing me to change it, if I wanted
*BUT HERE IS A POSSIBLE PROBLEM!!!*
So it saved or appeared to. But now, I can't find it anywhere!
During the test, I also took a snapshot and that is in the file area.
So either the screen recording didn't save or perhaps I made an error. ???
So I then went into file manager, internal storage, screen recorder (folder). It's empty!
      *AND THAT'S THE ISSUE!*
I searched for the word "recorder" and a bunch of stuff came up, including the videos. They are NOT in ScreenRecorder. They are in ScreenRecord.
      LOL
They shouldn't have put 2 folders.
It's interesting that the OS didn't update to V1.2.3 and I hope that it does not.
I'll try to remember to stop any further updates if going to .3 removes the recorder and/or camera.

Ok, doing some more thinking about this, if you're seeing spelling errors and things are just not there, I highly recommend calling their support via phone. If memory serves, the support number is there on their website.
They should be able to check your device.
Also, if you press on "Settings (the gear)" on the right, then, on the left, the bottom icon (with the slider graphics on it), are these turned ON:
      - Screen Shots
      - Screen Recorder
      - Customer Service Center (on mine, this doesn't seem to do much except get you to snap shots and screen recorded videos.... nothing else)
If none of that works, I'd really give them a call. This is too much $$$ to not have a unit that's working equally as you see in this video.
      Hope that helps!

@@BlondieSL I was on Customers support in the past 2 weeks, however they couldn't figure out what wrong with yet. I recorded the issue on my phone and email it to ThinkCar tech support. The support team and "engineer " is in China. I pretty much waste 2 plus hours every day to work with them. I am about to give up. I restored my devices and not updated the interface software. The new one is bugging.

@@vrhovecpeter7441 As I found out today, this scanner can adjust/calibrate things,
*BUT IT DEPENDS* on if the vehicle is capable of handling it.
On our 2016 Honda CRV AWD, I tried different things today and most did not work. The options just returned a message that this option isn't available.

Can I confirm that the $99 package is for All diagnostics, but no resets and no car brand specifics , whereas the $59 is for all diagnostics and resets for one car brand?
Or will $99+$79 give me all diagnostics and all resets, for all brands?
    Thank you.

    • @4WheelKid
      @4WheelKid  Před 4 měsíci

yeah the $99 is for codes in all modules can be read and erased and you can view the data streams. the $79 is for all reset/ special functions I believe but does not include bi directional commands or advanced features, that is the $59 per brand but you get everything for that brand with just the $59 pricing is a little confusing, wish they had a set price to unlock everything
