How do you take an awkward and cramped basement bathroom, and turn it into something really quite lovely? You call Sarah Richardson, of course!! Oh, and that wall sconce that you spray painted, just look at the pattern that it casts on the wall!!!! It looks like leaves! BEAUTIFUL!

I love the way reno guys come up with the most inventive ways to move things that seem to me to be permanent fixtures, the furnace being one of them. Once I had a peculiar renovation problem that came up when a door had been moved but the furniture that had been moved into another room during the renovation couldn’t be taken out. The fellow said that they would just “pop” out the window, take the furniture outside through that window and then bring it in through the front door. To me, a window is a permanent immovable thing but ... apparently not. Such a great creative team you have, Sarah!

Great spaces. I love Sarah because she makes it look effortless, but you see all the care in the details. I love that the laundry basket had the “square” pattern that pulled from the wall artwork. Gosh, even the garden boots matched the space. The baskets and mirror were the same color as the counter❤️. The bath was genius! The created light fixture was perfect! The family that moves here, will have an amazing house, that the pandemic built. Great work Sarah!

LOL that must be the NEW design element for homes!! Friends wanted me to do a kitchen wall like this and our youth room at church just did a similar thing. It appears to be EVERY WHERE!! I am thinking like so many DIY it isn't as easy as it seems to get a great look. Sarah yours looks fab!

Sarah, it is getting better.Wow! I absolutely love that mud room wall. A great way to keep all those scraps of wood from being tossed out. You should do a headboard like that on one of your projects. 😊
I loved your detailed explanations on how you saved money on the marble, butcher block, bench and shelf, gable and vanity sconce, especially after incurring the initial $2,000 expense to relocate the furnace and duct work. I’m still confused by how all the bath, laundry, utilities and sump pump rooms were carved out of the initial space. A simple before and after floor plan would be much appreciated.

I actually have watched you ever since you built a beautiful room at a home show! I was sickened when we couldn’t watch on HGTVUSA😩but now they’re all on a new station called Dabl... love both of the beach house series...now we are fortunate to watch on UTube..
Front door entry (foyer) looks like a locker room and the garage door entry looks like how a real front door entry should look like, (minus the washer dryer)

My favorite is covering the panelled door with the high gloss sheet to make it blend with other contemporary fixtures -- what a great idea.
I did something similar once - left over shaker cabinet door. Fixed it to the kitchen pantry wall and put cork in the centers. Voila - Instant message board!

It makes perfect sense to have that bathroom there. I have definitely been out grocery shopping and had to run into the house having to pee. Having that bathroom right there is so clutch! I've been following your career since forever and I love everything you do and you've done a lot of bathrooms that I love but I find my favorite of your baths are the ones that are below grade, for some reason. The first Sarah's house basement powder room, the bathroom in the backsplit (with mostly IKEA stuff! Sarah how do you keep doing that?), and now this. This is like a hotel bathroom. It's divine!

You took this gross basement bathroom to a whole new level. I really like the mud room wall made out of the scraps. It looks quilt like and I love quilts. The whole house is kicked up to amazing from basic.

Love that the mudroom has a laundry and bathroom. Wish I had this arrangement, as I usually come in from doing my yard work looking like Pigpen from Charlie Brown! We have lots of sand here in Texas,and it gets on everything.

The very important spaces in the house, the mud room and laundry with a bath near by to boot! I love all the storage here, one could store winter things along with being able to have spots to leave things like garden boots and gloves in place for next time. The bath is probably the one place that sparked my imagination. I have a small jack and jill bathroom between bedrooms in my house and looking at this basement bathroom has given me hope that I can actually update that bathroom from the 70s and give it the pizazz it deserves. Can't wait to see the outside of the house next.

But the footage of you presenting the reveal looks like it was shot against a green screen and the background of the basement room put in in post. Your outline doesn''t blend in with the environment. I usually love EVERYTHING and ANYTHING Sarah does, and I've followed her work for Years, but that textured wall seems off, and seems like it would be a nightmare to clean when it gets dusty... With that said, this house is magic and Sarah will always be my design GURU!
It’s not my favorite of SR’s work, either, but the wall SCREAMS retro ranch. The sixties and seventies, at least on the west coast of the US, were full of that stuff!

Once again it looks amazing. Love how you continued the rounded mirror them , and although the bathroom mirror is rectangle, the cool light fixture and round bowls continues the round theme. Annoy wait to see the rest. And the house in the city you started way back pre pandemic. ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful! I love the butcher block counter and the way you used it for backsplash as well. The only thing I don’t care for (and I know I’m in the minority here) is the patchwork wall in the mud room. I love texture, but it’s too messy for me. Lol

Your comments on the laundry room design are so helpful! I will definitely be enclosing my appliances - so easy and durable.
Lots of great ideas, Sarah! One thought about the mud room; the pails will be difficult to access on that shelf. What about hanging them from cup hooks screwed into the bottom of the shelf. There would still be room to sit without bumping your head. Is there an outlet in the bathroom hiding behind the hand towels? Asking for my hairdryer.
