One of the clearest gear comparisons I've ever seen. Awesome style, Ratzi. Thanks so much. 100% for level of detail, voice clarity, structure, speed and quality. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the kind words Drew! It means a lot! ❤️
you pretty much answered all my questions.
Cheers!
Glad to help!
Well done! exactly what i was looking for! :)
That was a great, no nonsense review and it's clear to me that the only way to find true happiness is to own the prime 4.
Haha! Glad you liked the video, the only way to find true happiness is to sub to our channel for more videos.. 👀
Good review man!
Thank you!
Really helpful, thanks!
You're welcome! Please remember to subscribe!
I bought both Denon Prime 4 & Prime 2!!! And version 1.6.0 is available for update!!!
I got the prime 2. So far Im enjoying it.
Glad to hear!
Excelente video 👍
Thank you!
For mobile work I'll take the prime 2. Thanks for the review.
The Prime 2 is a great unit!
Yeah, that’s what I bought for a mobile stuff. Great unit. The prime 4, so big and imagine putting it in a case. How big that case must be.
Prime 4 is only around $300 more than Prime 2 (which is not so much considering we talk about $1000+ devices)
So unless you're really on a budget, size matters or you want that stop time knob, go for a Prime 4.
This is pretty legit advice.
Size and the more fragile 10" screens are the main issues for me.
The Prime 2 is perfect for me, minus the lack of proper inputs and Serato DJ support. I hope at least number 2 will follow soon, I then would have the perfect 2-in-1 beast on a rather compact footprint.
They are weirdly close in price. Seems like the Prime 2 should have a few less features so it could have the price dropped a bit. I would definitely splurge an extra couple hundred shekels for the Prime 4. The extra sweep effects and larger screen are worth it. Also that effect frequency selector on the Prime 4 is awesome. Not sure if I really need four channels though. I'm struggling to decide which one.
@@meinyourhead I gree, I think the price gap is too small, or there should be some more functions on the Prime 2 (dedicated inputs, SeratoDJ, Sweep EFX) to justify those $1300. But again, I don't need 4 channels, don't have the space, and I don't like that giant screen of the P4... though dilemma :(
Very true 👍. I own both Prime 4 and Prime 2. I would always go for my Denon Prime 4 as my main controller!
hugely helpful
Glad it helped! Don't forget to sub!
Awesome and very informative video. I own both Prime 4 and Prime 2. I always go for my Denon Prime 4 as my main controller: bigger screen and more features than the Prime 2! Price difference is not much. Size and weight difference is not much. So if you have the money to get the Prime 4 then I suggest to get it... and find stores that will include cables and a flight case as a package deal! I bought my Prime 4 that included cables and flight case. But Prime 2 do not have that deal when I bought it so I ended buying a flight case for around $250 plus tax.
That's pretty sound advice!
What do you mean? The size isn’t much different it’s almost twice the size. I could’ve had either one. I chose the prime because a lot of unnecessary things that I will never use on the prime 4 and it’s so big. I’m glad I don’t have to lug that thing around.
I bought the prime 4 😍 I love it so much
Great choice! It's a beast!
The Prime4 is an amazing machine. Only wish the jog wheels were better- like the DDJ-1000. One solution is allow us to connect Rane12s to channels 3 and 4.
Agreed!
Still can’t decide between the prime 2 and 4 for wedding DJing. Love the adjustable screen and larger view on the 4!
To be honest, it's not that much more money to step up to the Prime 4..
I agree, and from the measurements, it doesn’t seem the 4 is all the much bigger than the Prime 2. Although it’s still big, May as well have that gorgeous screen that’s adjustable and more options for a few hundred dollars more.
I say get the prime 4. Cuz atleast you have 4 channels in case if people want song request you can give up a channel for them to connect their aux
Erick Castillo exactly or if I have an iPad
Or an external music source that is better or quicker than tidal speed wise or variety wise, I can eq that song with 3 bands without an external sound board, and even cue it up in my headphones before hitting play. Honestly the 4 is not that much bigger than the 2, it’s the same height, and I believe about 3 inches wider and 3 inches taller, correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s worth it for the larger screen to me, I wish that Prime 2 screen was adjustable. Thanks for the reply!
I would like to take the Prime 2 because of its smaller size and weight, but I miss features like proper inputs, Sweep EFX and most of all Serato DJ support, like on the bigger brother! Would love to have the flexibility of the Prime 4...
GREAT REVIEW BROTHER.......ONE question...... Can you use the 4 channels with just one USB source in the prime 4 or you have to hook up a computer.?? Also, could you made Denon Vs Pioneer Standalone mixers ? The 4 channel ones that is. Than you!!
You can use all 4 channels on the Prime 4 with one USB! Or even an SSD card, or the built in hard drive, or the streaming services on WIFI! 🔥
Can you do a video on a full screen walkthrough for the Prime 2?
We'll add it to the list!
what does the x-fader knob do?
Prime 4 has a recording issue, the volume is far to low. Does anyone know if the prime 2 has this issue???
Like the Prime 2. Would've been nice to have the ability to flatten the screen for transport and storage
That's not a bad shout to be fair!
Has neber been a problem they make cases for them
But I will agree, because I would’ve liked to of had a smaller case
I have an MCX 8000 which I love I use allot in stand alone (have to pre analyze music on Prime) and also use the DVS functionality with Serato.
Question 1.- Does the Prime 4 have the DVS capability without adding any hardware?
Question 2.- Is the Prime 4 capable of completely process the music including adding hot cues and take all the edits to the computer Prime software or whatever I do in Prime 4 doesn't go to the PC (Like the MCX 8000, what you do on MCX 8000 stays on MCX 8000 lol got the joke? Doesn't go to the prime pc software)
Thanks for the comparison.
Hi Jorge!
1 - Prime 4 works with DVS if you already have the license.
2 - Prime 4 does analyse the music but one track at a time, all that data is saved to the usb stick. Also, any hot cue and loops that are added also. It gets sync'd back to engine prime!
PLEASE Denon, follow the example of the Prime 4 / VDJ and *add Serato DJ Pro support for the Prime 2* as well! Also just the Filter is lame, give us Sweep EFX! Then you would have the true 2-channel BEAST 😎 on the market, thanks to great flexibility, and more Pioneer SR/SX/RX users like me could switch. The Prime 4 is great, yes, but bulky and not everyone needs all channels. Thank you!
I think it depends more on Serato than Denon...but anyway, they are already on it...It's just for later...
@@piurtv Well, Serato could at least agree with Denon to go for Serato Lite support. Then users could pay $99 once to upgrade, if they want/need it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
guys! What price would you think would be fair for used Prime 2 in perfect condition?
Just to check. Can add technics 1200s to the prime 4? Would you recommend this option as opposed to the sc5000 setup? Can’t decide!
Just connect them to the phono inputs :)
Yes, you can add external turntables, and media players as it's got both line and phono inputs.
would have loved the prime 2 but it is still too large to throw into a backpack... so i'll still go with the prime go
Great choice, that's what the Prime Go is for!
I paid 1500 for the 2 and I love it
It's a great controller!
Im still on a split decision i don't need 4 channels but the screen on the 4 looks much better and the extra effects on buttons instead of going through the screen on the 2 mobility wise the prime 2 wins hands down but you never know in the future whether im gonna need the 4 channels......what a dilemma lol
I would always say to go to the Prime 4 if you can find the extra dolla to do so. As you say, it's nice to have the option of 4 channels even if you're not using them at the moment! Plus, the Prime 4 has Serato compatibility..
Can you connect prime 2 to a computer so the screen can be displayed on a large tv
That's a question that we get asked quite often, and unfortunately the answer is no.
Can you add a back up cd unit to Prime 2?
The Prime 2 has an AUX input that you could plug a CD unit in to!
Can you record a DJ set on the Prime 2 like you can on the Prime 4?
DJTOMMYTNYC Absolutely!
Yeah
Does that screen on the Prime 4 go right down flat?
Yes it does!
Thanks, I see on Internet that the Prime 2 has a battery to play without electricity. But, the 4?
The Prime GO is battery powered, but the Prime 2 and 4 need electricity.
@@djkit OK, I checked that and your answer is true. Sorry and thanks.
Would you recommend 4 channels over 2 channels ??? Or do you think 2 channels is enough??
Hey man, that's that's completely up to you and what you want to achieve. It's always nice to have two extra channels for multiple tracks etc, or even adding more equipment in like CDJs or Turntables etc.
Are the jogs on the Prime 2 as loose as the Prime 4 or did Denon tighten it up?
They feel similar to the Prime 4!
I love my Prime 4, but...... a mistake you made regarding the beat grid adjustment on the Prime4. You can't adjust the beat grid the way you say (expand / shrink the grid - no bpm changing), it (currently) only allows you to slide the grid left/right (just like the Prime 2). You can halve / double the bpm but that doesn't really help if the bpm was incorrect to start with. This is a very big issue, as you can only correct bpm of tracks by connecting your drives to a computer & using EP software. Please edit you video to ensure potential customers know exactly what they are getting.
why cant you use the tempo slider to adjust tempo ? isnt that what its for ?
@@djmikesea You can use the tempo slider / pitch faders for changing the tempo / pitch. I am talking about adjusting the beatgrid, which if incorrect affects the accuracy of loops and effects.
I would like to know is the sound quality as good as standart club setup with cdjs and pro mixer?
Shame about the mixer on the Prime 2 having no inputs.
Yes, it is a shame, but you can't have everything!
Dj guru not much of a guru. You have one input which is aux plus you can’t have a input when one And two channel are already receiving music as the four you can add two inputs 3 and 4 figured a guru would know that. You want an input buy a 2 channel mixer and run your input into it lmao
@@bjl91290 Uhm this is bullshit. The RX2 is also only a 2ch AiO and actually has extra inputs. Aux with Cue is okay, but its really basic. You know Dr. Genius that you can quickly switch between USB and Ln/Ph, right? Good, then next time stop behaving like a dick.
@@m-stat9 I agree he was very mean to you
i love sx3 best
what?
I see cat hair by the knobs. Sneezing right now
@@rmac5584 cool
Is serato the only DJ software you know
Hi Lionel, Ratzi used Traktor for 5 years, then Serato and now Rekordbox. What do you need to know?
I really hope the Prime 2 also gets Serato support, especially considering its price (just 300 cheaper than the Prime 4) and smaller 7" screen (laptop would help in some situations).
Why not...
You cannot rely on the Prime 4. Don't buy.
I purchased one for my neighbor ordered on January 23, 2021. He is a high end DJ that lost everything due to a stroke. He has practiced and is great. He is working on videos to post on CZcams and getting gigs in Asheville and his cross fader is sticking and the left start/stop button stopped working. I don't recommend this since its supposed to be for professional DJs. You cannot rely on it. He spelled Larry Levan (1986-1991) of the famous Paradise Garage in New York. Larry was his mentor. He is planning to do a memorial to Larry Levan in Asheville, NC clubs, etc. and post a memorial video on CZcams AND the left start/stop button?
That's so kind of you to buy one for him, I wish you were my neighbour! 😂
@@djkit Yes me to wish someone could buy me a Denon to to try it 😊😊🎶👌 Sometime it comes defected once and you need to change the product for a new one. I heard a lot of people get some issues but otherwise I see nobody complaining about the Denon. If you don't like it change to Pioneer ! :) Every product has something,
The Prime 2 & Prime 4 are greatly flawed. You cannot hear the MIC signal through the headphones. So if your into broadcasting or recording or just want to hear the MIC that someone is talking into ontop of a noisy room. Do not get a Prime 2 or a Prime 4.
Have you gone on to the Denon forums and requested this in an update?
@@djkit He is complaining about this in almost EVERY youtube video with the Prime units. Just silly copy-paste. I will get a Prime 2 / 4 because he doesn't decide for us. I don't care about Mic in my Headphones at all.
@@m-stat9 I don't get it either. What a drama queen.
