I have had time to think during my time in Maskeegan County Jail, and I have learned some things about myself:
-I don’t like the food here and love to complain to everyone about it. Even though Timothy would have done ANYTHING for even the scraps on my plate
-I don’t like how cold it is in jail, and I also like to complain to everyone about it. Even though I gave Timothy hours long ice baths that gave him seizures and hypothermia
-I don’t like the beds in jail, they are not soft and cozy like my bed at home and AGAIN, I like to complain about it to everyone. Even though Timothy didn’t have a bed at all, and I forced him to stay awake all day and night, not allowed to be comfortable EVER, filming his discomfort 24/7 and only allowed him to lie down on a tarp on the floor of a small closet
-I beg everyone for commissary money to buy all the snacks and treats I can, and complain to them if they don’t give me $75 per week, fulfill my commissary wish lists FULLY, and send me gift baskets. Even though I never once spent a dime on Timothy so he could eat a meal, let alone any snacks or treats
If you haven’t listened to his jail phone calls… you really need to. You would literally hear him complaining nonstop about all these things, plus more. The nerve, the complete audacity of this POS never ceases to blow my mind.
And he wants compassion and mercy!? What a joke. Even though he never gave poor Timothy any compassion, any mercy, any love. I hope all the people giving him money and accepting his calls stopped after the trial. (The only released phone calls of Paul and Shonda so far are all pretrial and presentencing…so we will see🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻)

Sociopaths and psychopaths don't have a real human core of emotions, feelings, empathy, and a normal personality. So they copy and imitate what they see instead. This leads to a kind of patchwork personality, with ragged gaping holes through which we see the gaping, dead emptiness that lies beneath: the total lack of human conscience. Only the brutish instincts of a predator: self-preservation and violence.

The judge saw through his little charade. Trying to squeeze out those fake tears for a brother he only misses because his horrible death via his own hands and actions is now costing him his freedom. I don’t think there was anything wrong with Timothy. He wasn’t “special needs”. Any diagnosis was likely the result of being a normal kid trying to survive whilst being raised amongst torturous psychopaths. I wish people could understand this. Shanda wanted all her kids to be like Paul. Cold unfeeling automatons who would obey her every command. I don’t doubt she destroyed Paul psychologically, but he had a choice. He knew he was in too deep, that he would likely get in trouble too if he blew the whistle on his own mum, so he kept at it, until Paul’s precious body and spirit could withstand no more.

a true manipulator. notice these facts... after he is done reading his ... poem.... an good job paul on forcing your voice to sound sad thou it was a bit too forced and no one would ever buy that bs... he looks up to the judge almost studying the judge to see if his words had an impact, really driving home the "im sad" face... his demenour starts to shift... he sits back in his chair exhauls and takes a deep breath, then his focus beings to break, he rubs his eye as a way of covering his fault, why? simple... you will notice the camera pans to the judge and it really doesn't seem like the judge gave to F's about pauls poem and thats when we why paul acted in the ways i mentioned... it was never about timothy, it was about him trying to impact the judge that he was sorry. its classic manipulation 101... you learn this year 2 in psychiatry classes... judge must be well versed in human body launguage.

Any god with morality would agree that some things are unforgivable. The Christian idea of forgiveness has poisoned our view of what a "good" victim should be and how society should respond to the most vile of crimes. The only one who has the right to offer forgiveness is Timothy. And forgiveness can only be given to someone who genuinely asks for it. So that's two for two, it is impossible.

He is also an abused child, a victim of this abusive mother. The choices he made, were under her instructions and her threats and her upbringing. I think he should have been helped rather than thrown in jail. He was almost as much a victim of his mother's abuse as was his brother.

      @pennyc11 Před 4 měsíci +6

Sadly, he had so many opportunities to save Tim's life. Instead, he chose to engage in the torture of this defenseless, disabled child.
There wasn't a day, when Paul couldn't leave his mother's comfortable home to strike out on his own, if only to escape Shanda's cruelty or to alert Social Services that Tim was being abused. That he was being asked to inflict pain onto his little brother.
He has been in foster homes. Some are really bad. It rarely is worse then what he was doing to his brother.
These are the reasons a wise judge had to sentence Paul, as he did. If Paul really does find a heart, without tearing it from someone else, he'll get paroled.
Sad, all of his reading didn't show him that becoming a criminal will put you into a place of like minded people.
I understand dad's being so rough with him. He never stated why he got hit so badly. I imagine it was based on how he treated others.
Yes, that isn't how you cure a bully. Socially, it is what parents are taught to do to naughty children. Reality is it usually makes them meaner.
Paul needs serious intervention. I agree with the judge. Paul would resist attending such therapy on his own and use his resistance to become an adult as his excuse. In jail, he still has choices. At least the risk of his harming defenseless children has been eliminated.
