Absolutely true! The one thing I would add to that is once you have your anchor point set there are fork widths you will shoot better than others. But the price, who makes it and where it is made don't mean nothing. Its all how you shoot it that makes it accurate. Great video brother

Hello, I'm happy to have found your channel and I'm enjoying your videos. I completely agree. I started with an Ocularus and still think it's a great value. I rarely shoot it in favor of my homemade frames, which is a whole other addiction on its own.
I just started cutting my own bands. My initial ones were far from perfect. Despite that, I was able to adapt to their quirks become accurate.
For target practice I've been shooting simple shot black .6mm in 16mm straight cut. For backyard can smashing they have enough umph with 3/8th steel. They live a lot long than tapered bands and are much easier to cut. The thing I like best is the lighter draw and no dancing fork tips. I can step up to 18 or 20 mm to gain some power. 20 is a bit too much for 3/8th, it will give you some hand slap.

Great video and "points". This is the first video of yours that I've watched... and immediately subscribed to your channel.. was also the 369th "like" for this video. A World Class, real life example of what you said in this video.... was that of Rufus Hussey - aka - "The Bean Shooter Man" from Seagrove, NC. He was featured on Johnny Carson's - Tonight Show, back in 1986 if I remember correctly. I have NEVER in my life (been around for 7 decades, now) seen ANYONE, Anywhere... shoot a slingshot as fast, and with more accuracy, than ole Rufus did.
He could flip a Dime up in the air, load his slingshot and hit the dime (sometimes a nickel, or a quarter... whatever he had on him) before it was half way back down from its arc!! He was also known to have shot bugs on leaves, from over 30 ft away... without Ever, touching the leaf itself.
He would shoot at a standing reed in a roadside ditch.... you tell him which way you wanted it to fall (left or right), and he would make it fall in that direction, better than 95% of the time... from 30 to 50 ft away!
But, here's the "kicker".... he NEVER owned a "store bought" slingshot... he made his own, out of Dog Wood "forked" branches (and sold a lot of them, to), and also Maple .... his last one was numbered 15, 364 (not positive on the last 3 digits), and he used tire Inner Tube rubber for bands, for many years, but I believe he switched to Latex rubber, when they stopped making the old "red" rubber inner tubes, years ago.
For ammo pouches, Rufus would make them from old, leather Shoe "tongues" (between the shoe laces & your foot... for you young people who don't know), but the Real "clincher" was his ammo............ Rocks / Stones!!!
He could fire off 2 or 3 shots with 100% on target accuracy.... in the time it takes Many SS shooters to aim and let off even One shot.... and that was when he was in his 60's!! His "Average" time, between loading a stone, and sending it to its target, was Less than 4 Seconds!!
There are video's of him online (unless someone in his family had them removed for whatever reason)... and one special one, was a TV interview with him out at his farm... look for it, you will be awe-struck at how fast and accurate ole Rufus "The Bean Shooter Man" Hussey, really was!! Even Johnny Carson had him on his TV show.... you should look it up. It was pulled off of YT for a year or so, supposedly for copyright infringement, but it's back up there again... I believe it was in 1986, that ole Rufus was on there.
He was truly a Slingshot Legend in his time (he passed away on Feb.24th, 1994... just 74 years old).... and Still is, in the hearts and minds of those who ever witnessed his unbelievable shooting skills and speed with homemade slingshots.... and Rocks!! Keep up the good work with your video's.... will be watching. Thanks again.

At first, I thought my slingshot frame was defect but over the time I keep practicing using it, eventually I get the trick to hit the target.. Currently I can hit the target as far as 20 meters with the target size as big as jam can with that wrist rocket slingshot even without using wrist rest on it..

Just after writing the previous comment I decided to go ahead and order.
Started looking at the WAAO and a couple others and after reading way too many reviews decided on the Axiom Ocularis for both of us!!
They are very reasonably priced and I feel good keeping the business right here at home.
The system seems like a winner and though I didn't go for the cheaper route, I feel this is a great frame for the money and still a good choice for starting in this new sport ;)
In the future I can see adding several custom hand-made frames...cause ya are who ya are!!

Preferencefor all metal frame because it doesn't flex under pressure, survives fork hits very well, won't shatter as theframe gets older. Some wood/metal hybrids can break under pressure over time especially if the handle is wood and is bolted onto metal forks. If frame and handle are all one piece of metal, far less .ikely to break over time. Also look for easier to install band mechanisms.

Watched it. Agree with you. But….
As a beginner I bought the Simple-Shot Cleaver Pro. A $125 slingshot. To me, that qualifies as expensive. And it immediately improved my accuracy.
Now I should add that I think the reason for this is that this model has several holes that allow for different configurations of the wrist strap. A little experimentation resulted in my finding a configuration that provided an extremely stable grip. Not only that but because of the way this slingshot is designed(???) to be gripped, I can allow my hand to completely relax while reloading without the grip changing AT ALL. I can even hang my hand down by my side in a relaxed position and the grip just does not move. This means one aspect of a repeatable technique, the grip and orientation, is always the same.

If you are shooting a heavy band set try going lighter and see if that will stop the issue. Question; Every time I replace a band on my sling shot, same length size and all, my aiming point on my fork changes. So I have to shoot it and find where it’s at all over again. Any reason to why that is?

    • @canvandal4503
      @canvandal4503  Před rokem +1

@@joshuasmith2107 great question. There could be a couple things. One. Are you using the same brand latex? All latex is not the same. If you’re rotating different latex brands, although the tapers and thickness may be the same, they will perform differently. Also, when you’re switching out bands, even with the same variables, a newer band will shoot a little different than one that has been used for a while.
Another thing to look for, is make sure that you are using the same anchor point. You can have all the same variables with your latex, but slightly adjust your anchor point, and that can throw off the trajectory.

@@canvandal4503 I would be glad to watch your video on how to properly aim at 10-25 meters and how to release. I'm doing something wrong.

Not going to buy accuracy. Gonna’ buy ‘cool’.
It’s a minor hobby. No sweat.

You can buy inaccuracy, a shitty slingshot is shitty.

I would have to see an example. Show me the slingshot and I’ll show you somebody that can shoot it. There are some really skilled shooters in our community they can basically take anything and get on target with it. Just my opinion. Thanks for stopping by brother!

I compare it to golf clubs... Buying the most expensive golf clubs is not going to make you the best golfer!!!
