  • The slingshot I am using is the Cleaver V3. A fully CNC machined, aluminum, pro model with clips and sight system.
    Once we are passing beginner stage things might stall. We change slingshots and styles and hope for a change, but then it becomes a mess. What to do when over the newb phase and accuracy reaches a plateau? Look for coaching tips. I have collected a bunch of tips and tricks that might help your improvement.
    You may recognize that you are already using these, but had no info about the experience of others. Or looking for some explanations. See it for yourself.
    If you are interested in self coaching ideas you may check my main resource for this video. KiSik Lee, Tyler Brenner: Total Archery - Inside the Archer.

    Hmmm…
    CZcams algorithm, perhaps is now to the point of reading minds. My SimpleShot Cleaver just arrived yesterday. And it’s shooting a little bit to the left. I am a newbie at the sport, which means I have a much better slingshot than I need. This is exactly the kind of information that I needed . I, too, want to keep the slingshot vertical rather than cant the frame. This is exactly what I need.

    Great tutorial Mark! I subconsciously let my shot off within 4 seconds whether ttf or ott. Starting from the draw (one), correct my Windage (2), adjust my Elevation from High then lower it (3), then release (4). Incidentally, I mix it up with rapid shooting just for my muscles to remember the whole process using the, believe it or not, Torque. I banded it up in such a way that it perfectly functions like the Xiaofork used for rapid shooting. Brilliant design and i'll send you a link if you want when I get around to posting the video :) Cheers!

    Wow what a great and detailed video, thank you sir! But I didn't understand something. Do you focus on the reference point when aiming and keep the target blurry, or do you focus at the target and keep your reference point kinda transparent? I am trying to enter your mind and imagine what do you see when aiming! I personally have learned to shoot a slingshot with both eyes open and focus at the target, but I wonder if I'm doing it wrong?

    What you’re describing related to conscious versus unconscious thought is very similar to visualization techniques used in other sports. For instance, playing golf. My visualization technique uses a routine where I go through relaxation. I visualize what’s going to happen I picture myself swinging in the way that it’s necessary to swing to make that visualize shot happen, and when I get up, I clear my mind of all the ideas of how to swing and except the fact that I have a swing inside me that will take care of that by itself. And some of the best rounds that I’ve ever shot have been when I have been able to consistently utilize that technique. But golf is also a social activity and if I’m mixing social activity with playing golf and using the visualization technique, it doesn’t always work out as planned.

    I've only recently started shooting slings, I have the Hammer XT and Scout X Pro. I have only ever shot OTT in my limited experience and was wondering if I would get on with TTF. I guess I will have to be practical and try out TTF on my existing Slings before I get the Cleaver Pro, but man, is that thing a work of art and just stunning to look at. I wish it came in red as well, but Black is just as beautiful. Well done on achieving this remarkable project of passion and for creating this masterpiece.

      Thank you very much Gavin! Try TTF, use reliable bands and small/light ammo. Try to shoot with both eyes open if you don't do it already, that can help a lot, and even more with TTF. I am really glad you like this design, and understand the concern as well. By learning new styles you can get so much from the sport! Thanks for your comment. Have a great day!

    • @markseljan
      @markseljan  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you! Practice and relaxed shooting is key as always, but there is something else that helps with consistency. I like to (and many others as I see) load my sling and stretch a bit the rubber while preparing to lift my arm to aiming position. Try to make this move as straight and simple as possible. The transition from this loaded stretched position should be very smoothly transformed into aiming shooting position. Basically just lifting up the hands and when your hands are lifted up you already should be very close to the shooting position. This helps a lot. Instead of lifting up hands and then pulling and then looking for a good aiming alignment and trying to control frame alignment etc. That is too much to go wrong. Even the head position should be set way before the hands are lifted up. Once you load you are already staring at the target and keep a focus. Hope this helps! Cheers

When using stronger bandsets I do slightly pinch in front of the ammo, when at full draw the fingers will be right above the ball. I always get forkhit when using cleaver. At middle of fork. What should I do?

    • @markseljan
      @markseljan  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi, It is hard to answer since a forkhit is usually a result of execution, but here is a list I can pull if the hit lands in the middle. 1. Check if the frame is near perpendicular to the target line. Also a good idea to record a video if the holding hand moves right after the release. A flicking motion may cause a trouble. 2. If the elbow is bent and not stable enough (holding hand) the lockout is not as firm as it should be. That can also generate problematic shots. 3. Make sure the pouch is not too slippery or used too much. Magnesia can help with this. 4. If using face anchor don't push too much against the face, that can cause unwanted friction upon release. 5. Too much angle at the wrist and forearm can result in a tweak that can add a speedbump. If the hit is in the middle the elbow may be too far out horizontally. A stance with front leg slight forward can help to rotate the upper body and give more room to shoulders and elbow to be in line with the aiming direction. 6. Uneven pouch hold. One side of the pouch is rolled forward. 7. Too much grip on the handle, hold it firm, but nothing more. 8. Set the thumbsupport, pre-draw and then lift up and execute the shot process. A pre-draw can help to maintain a good angle with the frame and if done correctly it make the shot easier with the Cleaver. Hope these ideas can help with the troubleshooting process. Kind regards, Mark
