Manor Lords city building gameplay is just crazy good, and in this video, I thought it was time to throw down the gauntlet for real, and show you my favorite creation thus far - the grand city of Nidaros in all its glory. One of my favorite things to do in Manor Lords is to build authentic-looking medieval European villages, towns and cities, because I feel like it gives me so much joy of life to see these creations come together. It all looks so real and beautiful already - so why waste it by making square-shaped grid cities?
But creating these behemoths, especially when you're surpassing 500 inhabitants is no easy feat, and that's why in this video, I'm not just showing off how beautiful Manor Lords can be, but also offering a little Manor Lords city builder tutorial, showing you the most important first steps, and telling you exactly what you need to look out for to create the Manor Lords city of your dreams.
We also take a third person walk around town, which is such an awesome feature! I hope you like seeing everything up close.

I strong suspect if the community didn't kick off so hard about Thrones of Britannia being focused to one specific region and ignoring the plethora of mechanical innovations that came with it we probably would have gotten Medieval 3.
@@chstensCA is really good at not doing things that would print them money. Make a Medieval 3? Nah… going to make some Egypt campaign game.
That's what I thought too, I was looking forward to making Amstelredamme. But it seems that there is no water such as rivers and lakes, or that no canals can be built. It's early access, so maybe that's scheduled for later, fingers crossed.
This game has shown the AAA studios, the demand is still there while the supply has stopped.

Might not even be DLC, as the game is Early Access. They could just add it to the main game.

Despite this game not being island and ship/water focused. And is set many 100 years before the setting of Anno 1503. There is something about the atmosphere and feel of this game that just screams Anno 1503 vibes and I love it! There was always something special about Anno 1503, something about the immersion which newer titles didn't have despite also being great. I'm so looking forward to this game finally being released in a few days:D

That's what updates are for.
DLC's are just a way to make a barbones game, and sell the stuff that makes it into an enjoyable game for more profit.

Fuck CA but this game is not the same as Total War. Comparing the two is doing both games a disservice. This game is a city builder first.
This launch is having abit of a Helldivers 2 moment with the Total War community though, I have been waiting so long for Medieval 3 or even Empires. Any of the main line titles tbh. It not just me, the demand for a historical medieval strategy game is so high. I cannot wait for this game.
Just imagine the future with mods. I’m sure someone will make a mod or feature that will make total war fans happy. Maybe a just battle mod and one map. Hopefully multiplayer
I’m 25 years into my current campaign! My large city stretches across 3 territories.
Main territory population is 1287, next is 402, 358, 158, 102, and the last little village is only 24 people 😊 but all together, it’s pretty awesome! My army is huge, bandits no longer stand a chance. The enemy is down to one territory and I’m just having fun before the last big battle. Those first 3 territories are self sufficient at this point. I just add houses and guide them along slightly lol
All my retinues are customized in red/white with one person decked out in all yellow to be the Lord.
This game is so much fun! It’s gonna be fun to see it expand and get perfected!
Hopefully we get a bigger map, and bigger enemy armies! That would be really nice :) bigger armies in general… but nothing total war level… maybe 1,000 on each side for the last final battles of the campaign… that would be epic. Maybe an occasional event with an invading enemy army that’s abnormally large….

now after 1 week im thinking they should had let streamers and youtubers get the access in the last week or 5 days before, because now me and lots of peeps know everything about the game and what to do, it will feel like it isnt the first time playing the game when it launches because of that.
I even talked with a friend about that, he didnt knew the game and i showed him, he sayed that after watching some hours of the game he liked it but already knew on how to play it and it their interest in the game has decreased from knowing what to do.
For example, when you play for the first time you make mistakes, but if you saw some videos you will avoid most of them
trust me, you'll mess up either way. And why did you watch if you didn't want to become familiar with it? I never watch videos of games I don't want spoiled, but that's mostly for story reasons. There's no story here. I'm 100% sure this won't be an issue lol
I made a 700 people town but with a constant stock of 0 or 1 month of rations, lol. I can't help it. Level 3 homes just look so nice.
This reminds me of Lords of the Realms 2, i'll definitely get it
One thing I truly don't like is the map orientation, north south. Most of the time players look into the sun, which means we see most buildings from the shadow side.

This is the answer to what 'Grand Ages Rome' could be from the Start. Thankfully with Mod makers and UE4 Ancient Rome Stuff might be present later and here ❤😊

Got a couple of questions about the battles if anyone wouldn't mind:-
1.) Can you pause the game during battles and issue commands? I don't want any git gud twaddle. I'm a 24yr TW vet. It's just a question.
2.) Are there campaign and battle difficulties? If so how does the battle difficult manifest itself is it just stat buffing and nerfing like in Total War?
3.) Do battles have time limits and if so can they be disabled?
4.) Mechanically how do retreat/withdrawals work?
5.) How deep are the mechanics relating to weather, season, terrain and night battles?
6.) Is there mounted warfare? Now again I don't want any smart ass fluff about it being smaller scale, levy-based, horses being expensive and more associated with social class and blah blah. I'm aware. It's a just a question. Does it feature at all? I've not seen any footage of mounted units at all so I'm curious.

If your questions are still relevant:
1. Yes, you can indeed pause the game during battles. However, it's uncertain whether you can issue commands while paused. Micro-management isn't as critical in this game
2. There are campaign difficulties available. The battle difficulty manifests itself primarily through adjustments in enemy behavior and strategy rather than simple stat buffs or nerfs. Enemies may become more aggressive based on the chosen difficulty level.
3.Battles in the game do not have time limits
4.Mechanically, retreats or withdrawals occur automatically when a unit's morale drops to a certain point.(It could be influenced by your Citizen Happines Level, but not sure)
Withdrawing units is jsimply moving them away from the battlefield.
5.There are certain Buffs vom the Enviroment for example: high ground can provide significant buffs to units, while archers may have different behaviors depending on their commander's settings, including the possibility of friendly fire or just Wont Shoot at all when there is a possible teamkill.
6.Currently, mounted warfare is not featured in the game. However, there are already horses present, mainly used for trade purposes. It's possible that mounted units may be introduced in a future update

Does soil fertility change every playthrough? I just saw other manor lords series starting in the same point of the map and the soil was almost completely fertile for all type of crops
make a mega city as big as you possibly can then do a walking tour around it
Would love to have the option for paved roads in the city centre. That said this game is pretty amazing.
Shame the lord couldn't ride on a horse through the town. Also I noticed some of the villagers walking through him at one point, hopefully the developers will fix things like that. But overall this all looks very good indeed. Make you add things like a monastery yet, with apothecaries and hospitals?

Imagine a Manor Lords + Crusader Kings 3 game, would perhaps be a bit to big of a game? But I would love to both build my cities and conquer far away lands, becoming both a king or emperor and manor lord of my capital

There is so much wrong with this statement, I don't know where to start, but only you and some other streamers have access to this game - marketing tool you are 🙂

i like when people prioritize beautiness above effectiveness, often the villages made for max efficiency dont look good
i didnt play this game yet , but based on the videos i have seen, the game needs other already established big kingdoms on the map, it needs a good political system, it needs a good trade system where you can establish a trading routes with another kingdom and have to protect your trades from bandits , thats said , the game as mentioned is in early access and lacks alot of core features
You are hardly a kingdom with 3 villages, its called manorlord for a reason, you are a small baron at best
@@kristijangrgic9841 yea i totally get it, and i love it, however there needs to be a big kingdom on the map alreadys existing and you play as a baron responsioble to grow your small village , and aid your kingdom by sending them soldiers in times of big war .. imagine the scale of that idea!!
where yopu are your army take a part of a huge battle controling your own small force on the battlefied while big armies collide, and here you have to be strategically using your unist to win the battle..

you either continue to be a baron and help your main kigdom prosper and deafeat its enemies until you conquer all the map, or you create your own kingdom and conquer all the map, something similar to bannerlords 2.
or you choose to play as a support role by focusing on trade and supporig your kingdom with soldiers military equipments and food / animals like horses
