- Welcome to this vlog on Mother Shipton's Cave, a mystical and historic attraction located in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England. This ancient site, nestled along the scenic banks of the River Nidd, is renowned for its association with the legendary prophetess Ursula Southeil, known as Mother Shipton. Born in 1488, Mother Shipton was reputed for her accurate prophecies, including the Great Fire of London and the defeat of the Spanish Armada. The cave itself, coupled with the nearby Petrifying Well, which turns objects into stone through mineral deposition, creates an aura of enchantment and mystery. Visitors can explore the beautifully maintained park, marvel at the geological wonders, and delve into the fascinating tales of Mother Shipton’s life and predictions, which made it a perfect blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue.

Simon I love Knaresborough!! Could live happily ever after staying amongst those lovely tall trees. I find it so cute that everywhere you go you light a candle. Our lady of the Crag and all the different Caves are hidden gems. Really liked the statue of Mother Shipton with the cauldron and owl.

This was so beautiful, the walk through the trees and hearing all the birds singing 🥰 I loved the hare sculptures too, especially the ones at the little house. The Petrifying Well was amazing and the cave was absolutely brilliant, really cool and I love the stories of Mother Shipton, the castle ruins looked cool too. The guidebook looks like a really good one, love the look of the Prophecy book too! I bet I would love the Patchouli incense sticks, it’s one of my favourite fragrances. The beauty of Knaresborough is just wonderful, you were very lucky to have been able to go 😍❤️

Thanks Simon I loved it. What an extraordinary place. Parts of it did remind me of Wookey Hole and Cheddar Caves. Next time you are in Glastonbury, have a trip to Cheddar Gorge and the Caves if you haven’t done so already, it’s not far.

Thank You Simon for showing Knaresbrough so beautifully. Mother Skipton is so special, did you see her seat statue in the Market square to pay homage to her. The cave has such healing property's in it. Jk Rowling used some of the concepts from Mother Shiptons cave in Harry Potter, wonder if you can guess.
