      Indrani Das I must say that before the show I believed that our song would be more appreciated by the jury than by the public (you know, because people like pop dance, plus they sang in Italian etc)
      Instead it was the opposite 😂 and Ermal and Fabrizio always said that they wanted people to understand the meaning of the song... So I'm so happy they reached their purpose!

      Because it's actually not political. It does mention terrorism but it's actually a song about going on with your life no matter what and having hope. It's an oda against fear and an invitation to not let bad people and bad things bring us down.
      It's very saddening that this song is often summarized as "the song about terrorism" only because it mentions the attaks in the begining because that's not the point.
      Also, the "no political songs are allowed" thing exist to ban songs that might generate a diplomatic conflict because it's lyrics attack another country and ESC was created to bring Europe together. This song does not generate tension at all with any other country so there's no reason ot should have been disqualified.

    The director of toy interviewed to an Israeli newspaper, and said that they came to Lisbon clear favorite, and suddenly all the press from all around the world didn’t fancy Netta anymore. It was like they were searching for an underdog story - a black horse that comes from nowhere to win the trophy. He also said that all the journalists adored toy at the beginning, but after two months they were searching for something new to excite them. Eleni from Cyprus was the perfect one for that. Seeing the reaction now in the video- it seems quite accurate what the director said

Netta is a gift to the world and important for so many reasons.Thank you very much for this Netta! The more people talk about this, the faster things will change. These days Metoo, Netta and comments like mine--are all contributing to awareness and change. The goal: within a few generations, it will be obvious to kids that they can’t be someone’s human toy, and they can’t have a human toy. I was always proud to be Israeli - even more tonight. nil erra the international jury has been in melfest since 2009, so theyre not the problem, i just think that we keep sending the same package and people are bored by it, this year i think benjamin was the best option, i watched with my mom and the first thing she said about felix was: omg it looks like he tries to copy salvador, and then i was like, omg we cant send him, if my mom saw it then rest of europe will too, but björkman is determined to give us a 7th victory before he resigns in 2021, and i believe in him!! This melfest year wasnt that strong, but 2016 and 17 was extremely strong, we just havent had a clear winner like måns and loreen was, but i think we get it next year, and about changes, what needs to change is how the appvoting works, if ur given the opportunity to give everyone free votes u will, so what needs to happen is that u can only like give 3 songs votes or like give 12,10,8-1 points to ur favorites, etc etc, to give more power to the public vote, cause right now its simply to even

    • @nilerra8181
      @nilerra8181 Před 6 lety

      I meant the International juries have so much power since 2016 with the App.. that's an issue. There's no gaps with televote. I agree what you said about the votes and the App.
      For example in 2017 Nano was what Swedes wanted and he couldn't even win even tho he came second juries xD
      I think Sweden needs to stop playing safe and trying to be perfect if you want the televote on your side cause people feel that your entries are too calculate and cold. Even Måns couldn't win the televoting. I'm not sure Bjorkman will be the one to bring you another victory.. you need someone with new ideas imo but we'll see :)

If i would choose one song to listen to at home it would be dance you off considering i like that type of vibe..but the performance was too long, to repetitive dancing and i didn't like the sounds comparing it to his melodifestivalen performance..i think his voice is good so i don't understand why his backing vocals were sometimes louder than his voice.
    I am swedish and i think the jury was crazy to place him number 2. He should have been number 5-9 by the jury or maybee even lower considering the jury should judge voice, song and professionalism more than show, looks and dancing in my opinion. So maybee even place 9-14 from the jury and place 4-7 from the televoters, because it's easily one of the most enjoyable song to listen to, atleast according to me.
    I think Israel had a good song, but not a single other person i've talked to personally thought her song was good, they were like"this is a joke right, how can a joke song win?" but i mean it's mostly the chicken sounding ridiculus. Austria was my favourite. Check republic was really good but the song was a complete copy of Jason Derulos song Talk dirty to me, so i couldn't see past that. Germany was really good too, and I liked lithuania i think it was. And cyprus!
    It was too bad people hated swedens song or his persona or maybee they even hate sweden as a country, maybee they just liked others songs better and that isnormal ofcourse, or they are just tired of seeing sweden get a good score...which maybee is understandable...but that was insane, without the jury that would have been swedens maybe third lowest placement ever. And i don't think Benjamin deserves that. But many other contestants did good so I'll just applaud them.
    But it was a chock to hear the televotes, i thought sweden would end up top 10 for sure, maybee not top 5 but def top 10. On the other hand how did Moldova get so high up?? :O their song was my last one, along with slovenia and portugal.
    and why was Australia so low?, and Finland, i thought others would love her :P haha so random. all difference of opinion i guess.
    I wish for sweden to withdraw all involvement behind the scenes besides maybe financial aid for the future, i mean Christer björkman and other big names should stop being apart of it because i feel like people are really starting to hate sweden and are suspecting fowl play, which i swear that the swedes no nothing about. So yeah please just stop being involved and let sweden send contributions we want to send.

      You see, I love Sweden as a country, I wanted to learn Swedish ever since I have started devouring Astrid Lindgren's books as a child. If Sweden becomes a part of a "big 6" in the future, I have no objections. But when I don't like a song, it doesn't matter where it comes from, and for me, Benjamin's song was the worst in the entire final. Had I been in Lisbon yesterday, I would have cheered with others too for his televote points. Personal tastes aside, you can't "punish" anyone on the scale of televote, you can only vote for your favourites. And Benjamin simply wasn't that favourite for enough people.
      (plus I guess that that super rude video of his reactions to other entries did not help either, though I would see that more reflected in the jury score, so people probably did not know about it and it is just my personal problem)
      As for Moldova - you could always make a case for bloc voting, I guess, but I think their staging was indeed quite original, fully embracing the idea of "ok guys, let's see what we can do with no LEDs on a super low budget". It was entertaining to me, not a Top 10 song, but I can see reasons why people would vote for it.
      Australia so low - again, I don't see why people should vote for it. The song is just too much naive and of a "love love peace peace" kind. I find Jess very likeable, but I guess that "people who'll vote for a sexy diva" rather opted for Eleni.
      Finland's quite a mystery to me as well, but it could happen due to the running order and overall great quality of the final. Unlike last year, I did enjoy about 3/4 of the songs, so I am not disappointed after all.

      The song from Sweden wasnt BAD.. just nothing special either. It's like any top100 songs. Y'all basically sent the same Justin Timberlake type song twice in a row, which i guess the televoters are over with.
      My personal favorite was Estonia, the other people on my couch though really liked Israel, Czech and Moldova.
      Love from Norway :*

      Thank you for your response, That's how I am, when I like a song I don't care where it's from..so I completely understand and respect that Sweden was your least favorite. It was a chock for me to see that so many found it as bad as they did. ofcourse i understand that you can't really give someone a bad score deliberately in Televoting, just vote for the one you like. It clearly just means that they liked other songs better. It was just a chock to find out our score. And very disappointing and acctually insulting to see such a weird high score from the jury votes...what does that mean? I was so surprised that i started to believe the comments about sweden being overrated by the jury always etc, so i looked back 2016 and 2017 and i didn't see any big gap between the jury and televoting for sweden and one of the two years the jury vote were lower than the televote, so i don't think that's the case either.
      To be honest when i first heard swedens song i thought it was weak and too normal aswell, but it was a very bad melodifestivalen year this year so i thought it was the best we had. And then the song grew on me each time i heard it. I saw that rude video aswell, and it's not the personality that i have seen Benjamin have ever before and i've seen him in things since he was 10 years old so I honestly think he was trying to be extra and amuse some people in the room with him or something. And was just really rude, it was dumb to be honest. And i know he is sensitive so i can swear that he cried many times about the video after that.
      I didn't think Australia would win or anything but i thought it would be number 15 or something and not by the lowest of the televotes.
      yeah i'm not disappointed either, it was a good show!

    I think people forget, hardcore fans watch the semi finals and then general tv audiences only watch the final. So they only hear all the songs once. Hence I think that's why Austria did so well on the night. I agree with Sweden scoring low with televotes. The stage performance was like watching a music video, you didn't see the audience until near the end. The public like seeing the crowds reactions. Again with Australia most final night audiences wonder why Australia is in it, hence they don't get the votes. I didn't mind either song. Neither my favourites though.

      sd0977 berks Good explanation, only fans watch the semifinals and that's why Rybak won the 2nd semifinal, he's still quite loved among fans, not me though, all those teenagers who voted for him in 2009, are now grown adults who can afford to send many texts for him, but when it comes to the grand finale he stood no chances to win, however I admit at some point when he got 2nd in the odds I thought he was gonna snatched the victory.

    Sweden and Australia getting FAR more points from the juries than the televoters suggests that the EBU wants to slowly turn the big 5 into the big 6 (with Sweden) and someday into the big 7 (with Australia). ONLY THIS could explain how such poor songs with mediocre vocals could have scored so many points. I don't get Austria finishing 1st with the jury, but at least the guy can sing.

      yes, esp. the last 3-4 years. the latest act is to engage them to czech terms put them in an office in a different country, as if they would do telework and pay less as it is usual in the country they are actually in. even if it is a bit more as in their home country it is much less then they should get by law (e.g. in germany - a lot work in berlin offices). that is not fair to them and the also not fair to the employees in germany. I know that a lot went to other countries too. there were always czechs in other countries but lately even more concentrated in few countries

    • @nursen2106
      @nursen2106 Před 6 lety

      there is - but I would not say that all points are from czechs abroad. but for sure 30%. there are believe me. I am from a neighboring country and I see in my own company what is going on with employing them with less wages. that is a rather new thing. the last 2-3 years it got more. for sure concentrated on a few countries, but don't forget that as slowakia wasn't in, they got their support too. don't get me wrong, I think that it is fine and ok. I just think, that this did play a role and the discrepancy between jury and televoting is maybe half as big as it looks at first. still underrated by the jury. but nationality does play a part in televoting. I know, in the past that was always so with austria. I just don't understand what happened this year that austria got 7.place on televoting. happy for him, but I never expected that. maybe because he doesn't look like austrian? usually we don't get points from our neighbors - that is a sad fact. I always found that sad in years we had even better songs.
