I got in, but if you got deferred it’s not the end of the world. Y’all can do it!!!
By the way, you can imagine that every year schools like Michigan get lots of 4.0 students with lots of activities. I would think that admissions officers understand that students of your beginning caliber have filled out more than one application, if not the common application. Therefore, if admissions is a game, don't worry about deferment. Deferment would be like moving a pawn out in chess, just to see if the opponent is interested in it. You see, if they defer you and you are still determined and available, they'll have more confidence in their decision. In the end, you probably got admitted / deferred to many universities, right? You earned options, right? Okay, then. Deferment helps admissions officers keep their options open, too.
Otherwise, only students would be able to game the admissions con. This way, admissions officers can do the same thing. Yes, I was admitted to Michigan Engineering in 1996. I was not deferred, but deferment is nothing more than a ploy to see how interested you are. You, with all of those earned options. Don't sweat it. Hate the game. ;-)
I got in to UMich! I’ll be attending this fall
Congrats!
I got in with the best financial aid they have to offer but still did not end up accepting. Even got flown out for this past LSA Transfer day. It’s too bad because even with the maximum and the 20k scholarship it’s still not enough to graduate debt free. Easy to say no when you have other places offering you a full ride.
I got deferred from UMich. I applied as an international student so the process was already overwhelming and when I found out that I got deferred from University of Michigan my dream school the emotions got me. Now I feel that I get a second chance to impress the admission officers but I really don't know how and what to write in my continued interest essay , pls guide me as to what I can do or say so that I stand out and possibly get in.

I based my LOCI off of this!
How did everything work out?
I watched this video years ago when I was first interested in umich. I'm a high school senior and just got in and will be a wolverine. Love your channel!! GO BLUE
Yay! Go Blue!
Did you put gymnastics awards in academic honors section? Because I have some good honors/awards for soccer but I don't know if it goes in academic honors section. Thanks
I got deferred :( it’s my dream school. Hopefully I still have a chance! I skipped a grade and applied at 16 so it’s probably because they need to see my fall grades
I'm eager to get into UMich Ann Arbor and I'm really unsure if I'll get in.
For one, Covid really wrecked my profile, I couldn't go for any extra-curricular activities and my academic profile dipped somewhat as well. Somewhat recovered from all the stress during Covid, but now I'm nervous because I haven't as many achievements as you did.
You never know!
Hey I just applied in October and was recently admitted for next school year. I have WAY different qualifications than her (as in worse for the most part) and I didn’t even get deferred so I would like to give you another perspective. That being said I don’t feel comfortable sharing all my details on a public comment so if you have some way for me to contact you that you don’t mind putting in a public comment, I could give you a better idea how yours will be looked at considering my admission had to deal with covid complications.
@@alainarouse9670 Hello, my name is Kalimah Gardner and I’m planning to apply to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor next year. Im applying as a transfer student which has a higher success rate however, it’s still very difficult to get in. I did two years at two different four year institutions and got all A’s and I’m finishing my associates degree at a community college. I was wondering if you have any advice to ease my anxiety or if I could contact you for more advice, thank you, I appreciate your time
I got accepted on the 28th, go blue! 〽️
Congrats! Go Blue!
I got deferred too :( Michigan is my dream school
I am wondering when did you request to see your admission file? When deferred? or When you got your final decision?
Is it polite to request for admission file when deferred ? ( sorry I am an international students and I do not know a lot about US manners).
Hope you can give me some advice about what can I do now please.
You cannot access or view your admissions file unless you are a student enrolled at the university. I heard about my final decision about 2 months after I was deferred.
take all four jabs. also take the gre and get a phd after you bachelors.
I think they come out Friday, I'm so nervous! It is my dream school!
Good luck!
Did you get in?
might be because I am OOS
Did you get in?
Did you know in high school that not all A's are the same? What was the lowest score you could get and still earn an A? At my high school (West Chester East High School), 93 was the lowest A you could get.
Interesting!
I’ll edit this comment when I get my decision, so anxious! Edit: I GOT IN!!! 🥳
Good luck, I’m nervous too! Can’t wait to see the decision though!
Edit-I got in too!
@@grantkovacs2132 Congrats!
@@MaddyKim thank you! I’ve been watching your videos for a minute now, and they’ve only increased my excitement about going to umich!!!
The admission files seem really interesting. Can I request to review them in freshman year?
Idk but you can email them
Do you think the in-state acceptance rate is higher?
Not sure, sorry!
Yes it is, since it is a public school they have to prioritize in-state students
@@husnakhan6944 ok thanks
Can one change major from Chemistry to business?
You could, but you’d have to apply to cross campus transfer from LSA to Ross after your freshman year. It’s a competitive program so tough to get in!
Were you in-state or out-of-state when applying?
Out of state!
When did you email them for your file?
you can do it whenever
@@MaddyKim ooo (what if I have been accepted and I have enrolled but my term starts in fall 23)
@@mimillama I mean if you got accepted it's in the files so... prob have to be fully enrolled with your UMID and stuff tho
dude, I got deferred
I was too! They just make you wait longer lol but hopefully they'll let you know soon!
You’re so cute 😍
