For anyone who wants to land the plane, ignore the flashing prompts a lot. Just match the proper alt and speed in the middle, but keep from stalling
Not sure if the misleading prompts are a bug or just poor design.
From a design perspective I would have made the numbers turn red yellow or green instead, letting the player adjust as needed

Man the lion king WAS my childhood. I had it on our family pc and I remember being stuck on different parts of it for months, but I also remember a point where I finished the game on a daily basis. There were so many good level though, and adult simba was badass. Oh the memories
i never got past the monkey puzzles as a kid. prolly only rented like 2 or 3 times though.
It was hard, but also consistent and the controls weren't bad, so you could learn it if you tried enough.
Dragon's Lair is NOT a bad game, its amazing. Edit: Oh god the SNES version.

Landing the plane was a boss moment from Shelby's part
I remember that I got through the "I just want to be king" part once, to be killed by the stampede and never getting that far ever again.
Another Disney game that is hard as hell, but is a little fairer at the start, is Aladdin (the Genesis/MegaDrive/MS-DOS version, not the SNES one). There things go uphill pretty fast in the dungeons and the Cave of Wonders.
My two favorite games on my Sega game gear ! Ahhh brings me back. I have a strong urge to get the switch versions but I'm hesitant to ruin my fond memories.
@@laurens4951 I have played the PC version of that collection and they play basically the same. They're still hard as hell and borderline impossible, but now you can rewind a few seconds and use save states (if I remember correctly).
Aladdin even comes with a "final cut" where they add back some planned stuff to the levels that were cut because of time limitations back in the '90s.
People have even extracted the Final Cut ROM to play in their preferred emulators
I remember getting super good at Aladdin just so I could defeat Jafar with apple throwing.
Gah, Cave of Wonders... Never got past the carpet ride out.

Yeah I found the comparison between the two era of games a bit off. In the earlier ones those actually were features, not bugs. Doesn't mean they weren't frustrating but the underlying causes and complaints are different.

I always got the same feeling with this channel as with Razbuten's series about what gaming is like for non-gamers. I love how Shelby started off with little experience concerning video games and grew into a full fletched gamer herself.
Yes I totally agree. The " I made my girlfriend play" serie from Monty Zander has the same feel as Razbutan.
I absolutely love that when Razbuten's wife actually started playing (like Shelby) that she actually used 'lady I live with' as her name.

Another good one for that type of content is Boy meets Girl, they have a great system where he analyses what he learned about game design from forcing her to play games and she talks about what she discovered about their relationship by playing games for date night.
Also yes Shelby and matts chemistry has a very similarly energy to Raz and the Lady he lives with.

I came here after hearing what happened to you two and I want to say that my partner and I are both so sorry that happened to you. Not everyone feels that way at all. Please don't feel alone. I know that I personally would feel pretty bad if it happened to me because I genuinely care for people and it would hurt to hear someone say those things about me or my partner, but I want you both to know that what you do on this channel is wholesome, you are not bad people for playing hogwarts legacy and you do not have to question for a second if playing the game is wrong. We love a beautiful universe and IP and there is nothing else to say about it. Playing Lion King is one of my favourite gaming memories. It was super hard, but reaaally fun. What sucks is that I had borrowed it from a friend so I never did get to finish it in the time I had it. So yeah... mission accomplished, Disney.

In my very humble opinion The Lion King is NOT a bad game, but I can agree that it has some poor design choices here and there. As soon as I saw they released it on switch. I bought it very quickly. Iâve been playing this game on and off for years and it still makes me very happy and yes frustrated at a few points. Love your videos :)

The Lion King was a typical pretty graphics platformer made from popular cartoon, we had ton of them: Chip & Dale, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Tom & Jerry, Jungle Book, Aladdin, Mickey Mania...

Though I was obsessed with games back in the days, had a lot of time, and also I was obsessed specifically with flight sims, and in flight sims landing was my favorite part, so...
I usually wanted just to play fights in flight sims, but when another game found its way to my hands, it turned out that either I sucked at fights, or game sucked at making fights entertaining, but landings never disappointed me.
Lion king was so good. Playing it as a child was crap but i killed it as a teenager. prolly the best memory i have of my teens lol
it mirrored the movie perfectly and thus had great atmosphere and adventure. If it had been easier, it would not have been fun.

Well of course it was gonna hit 1 million subs at the very least - I mean it's literally a good looking woman with dark humour and sarcasm narrating entertaining reviews about games - with a unique perspective. And who plays games the most? Guys. First there's the channel's name itself, then there's Matt who gave the direction and editing, and Shelby pulled it off with her singing and acting skills (now they each do a bit of both). The two make a great team. It also filled a gap in the market; i.e. no other channel was doing this sort of thing at the time. This channel was always gonna be a success because of these things. Depending on what choices they make from here, they'll easily end up with 2 million subs before the year is over... or it could go a different way entirely if they try appeasement to tyranny.
Don't let these people upset you for playing a game that you want to play.

I still refer to games as "8-bit" and "16-bit" difficulty when they are really tough. There was a SEGA Megadrive side scrolling spaceship game called 'Hellfire' that I loved...I made it to the final boss twice. Never beat it. It was basically like Dark Souls, but with no save games, and if you wanted a chance to beat that last boss, you couldn't afford to die once or you wouldn't be powered up enough by the end.
The Lion King is literally one of the best games on the SNES! Loved this game as a kid and the 2nd game I ever completed

I always struggled with one of the later monkey throw sections as a little kid (which is still very early into the game), just couldn't progress past that point. Fast forward another year or two, having become 5% more sentient, I beat the whole thing. It's been a little more than 20 years now geez.
You would punish yourself over and over just to see a bit more of those beautiful sprite graphics.

I was relatively neutral in this whole fiasco, but attacking and harassing one of the most wholesome gaming channels on the site have completely turned me against the boycotters.
