I’ve been looking for the original version for years. I didn’t know the name of it until I heard DJ Spinna play it in a mix. He played the version I had back in 89 with the heavy baseline and guitar riff.
This is my SHHIIITTTT!!! To me...De La 'n P. Paul had took it to anotha level wit' the B-side classics...NOT TO MENTION that you had to like wiggle or skip the record player needle to get to this song on the B-side of the "Say No Go" 12-inch vinyl/single! That was crazy...
i've still never found another vinyl that had a third side like this. i knew it was special then, but did not value how special it still would be to me
Yeah we used to hunt down all the B-sides like this when they just came out. Brainwashed Follower etc.And I think it was that one that had micro grooves, two songs in the same track. Crazy
Jeff's back! This was a follow up to "Brainwashed Follower" which was a 3rd side on the Me, Myself and I 12" single. De La Soul was the only group I know who put a 3rd side on their singles.
3 sided records are rare on the whole. I had this one... sure regretting that I left my record collection behind (including this one) when I had to move... didn't have room to bring it with me ☹️☹️
Bro some of these lyrics LOL I used be friends with a guy who liked hard rock but I turned him on to hip hip. He loved this song and always wanted to play when he got high.
No it isn't. He is allegedly Dave (of De La Soul)'s cousin. You can see both Jeff and Chi-Ali in the De La Soul video for "Buddy". They appear in several shots, towards the middle. Jeff is on the left and Chi is on the right. At one point, Jeff holds up a sign that says "Native Tongues" while Maseo looks over his shoulder.
@@SheriffOutlaw Guess you know by now that all of De La's discography is now streaming....but just the LPs- not their B sides nor remixes. It'll be nice to have a deluxe or expanded edition come out.
Jeff, I told you, my name is JEFF! This joint is STILLLLL KILLING !!!!
gerniee3 surprisingly enough Jeff went on to actually kill a guy.
kiley davis Chi-Ali is NOT Jeff.

One of my favourite B-sides of all time. Great upload
💯 Bside to "Eye know". My brother played that record non stop when he first copped it!!

I think the 12" Me, Myself & I - U.S. release that has Brain Washed Follower was their only 3 sided record.

Brainwashed follower was a hidden grove under the me myself and eye and I remix
@@theoutabodies5653 It was a challenge to get the needle on the right groove...minor inconvenience but still cool to have.
@The Outabodies Yep. That hidden groove is referred to as the "3rd side".

This is NOT Chi-Ali...this is Pos' or Dave's little cousin!!!
i refuse to believe this isn't shyheim aka the rugged child.
Anyone know where that piano sample is from? It's killing me!
I think they played the piano part. The main sample is Hector by the Village Callers..
