  • In this video on making money with stock music and sound effects I will talk about my main strategy for this year to increase my income from stock music and sfx and make sure to have an ongoing stream of income in this area.
As some of you might know, I mainly use Motion Array for stock music and sound effects and have so far been very happy with the platform. For a lot of people stock music is a nice way to make their first money from their music or sound effects. It's also a great way to test whether the quality of your assets is maybe good enough to pursue other opportunities that have a different barrier of entry.

Please do a video designing cinematic impact percussion like the stuff from NI Action Strikes. That would make my day. Thank you for the quality content you’re pushing out, keep going! Earned a subscriber and will share your videos with my peers 🙏🏼

I love this. There’s not enough realistic options being promoted for making money with art/music, probably because it’s not flashy.

Thank you! Yes, I think a lot of people who view themselves as artists think the only way to make money with their music is by putting it on streaming platforms and hoping for the best. But stock music is a great option to actually make quite a bit of money with a relatively low barrier of entry where marketing/ self-promotion doesn't matter that much.

It can vary quite a bit. I would say usually 1-2 weeks. But when you are first applying it will take a lot longer. I think it took around 2 months in my case, but once you are accepted it's down to a few weeks depending on the category and how many assets they have in their queue (music will most likely take longer than SFX because there seems to be more music submitted and it also takes longer to approve a full track than SFX). Hope this helps but let me know in case you have more questions. :)

    Great video! What about Artlist?

Thanks a lot. Artlist is one of the platforms I'm looking into; I don't really have an artist profile (something that's necessary for Artlist), so I will have to build that up first. They also don't accept music that's registered with Content ID because they have their own Content ID system, so I will also have to compose some new fitting stuff before applying to them. But overall it looks like a really great platform (and they bought Motion Array). :)
