What is inside this Vintage Pottery Mould? Mould 61

- This is the series where I reveal what is inside these pottery moulds I found on Gumtree.
To check out the Mouldy Bisquits DIY Pottery Painting kits head to
www.mouldybisquits.com.au
The story goes, I found a listing on gumtree for pottery stuff. When I arrived the seller said 'I have all these pottery moulds would you like them as well?' and I said 'why not'. On the way home, I had the brain child to do a social media video series revealing what each mould is.
The mystery is in the fact that I had no idea what I had said yes to, some of the moulds are labelled and easy to tell but some of them are a little more difficult. The beauty is that all of the plaster moulds surprise you no matter the presentation of labels, titles or identifiable surface inside.
So come join me as I dive into this series and share the mould fun. I would love to hear any information you may have on the moulds and to let me know any stories you have that the moulds remind you of in the comments.
Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!
Heaps of love,

These owls are so cute! I actually kind of like how they look without their feet - it's like they're sitting down on a branch and fluffing up because it's cold, so it makes them even cuter.
Yes! I agree with you! They look all nestled and sweet! I think the feet make it more like a cartoon character.
You should investigate glow in the dark pigments for your glazing. It would be so cool to have little owls with glowing eyes! (I suppose GITD powder in resin would also work.)
After glazing you could use GID paint on eyes
I love it! What a wonderfully creative idea! Thank you for inspiring me!
Omg I would love to see that! Or maybe thermal pigment? You know those that appear when you pour hot water into a mug and disappear when it cools down.
The black outlines on the one owl really made it pop, love it!! This is such a neat mold because it can have a handle and be used a mug or take off the handle and it’s an adorable succulents planter. Favorite mold from the series for me so far!
I agree! It can be adapted and changed each time you make it! I also love that you can have so many different colour combinations with it as well!
I hope you do more painting on your own, just for yourself. You can see that you were just in the moment and following your heart. It’s my favorite out of all of them.
I absolutely was! I am so glad you could see that! I just had a little bit of fun and its really hard to document/ film that process and sometimes I just want to be in the moment and not thinking about filming that. I still wanted to share the results of that regardless of not seeing the process to get there. Thank you so much!
@@ShelbySherritt I’m so glad you chose to show us. I may not speak for everyone but I personally would rather you enjoy the creative process and create some pieces that bring a light and a spark to your heart and then peek at the results rather than you stressing to show us everything. Anyways, love your stuff. Follow your heart and swim in your joy.
I thought the blue was going to be my favorite because it usually always is, but the second from the last was actually my favorite! I do always love it when you paint the flowers and mushrooms and things though. Super cute!
Same!
I was thinking the same thing! It was hard to know how dark the colours were going to be on the ombre effect as I had no idea how many coats of colour I had added due to the sponging. I always love the little painted details.
I’m from Fresno!!! We still have a few moulds, here, but they’re mostly used for pottery painting businesses like Color Me Mine, now. The creator started the company and it’s still owned by her family.
That is amazing! I think this craft is really tricky in todays world as people don't have the space to keep the equipment stored like we used to. The pottery painting businesses are so important to keeping these pieces alive and allowing people to still have access to such wonderful creations. I am so glad they are keeping this craft alive and to hear about Fresno! The home of such wonderful pottery moulds hehe!
The owls are precious! I would love to see a patchwork pattern, or swirly floral filigree design.
Oh a patchwork would be so cute! Love that idea! I haven't tried filigree before but I am keen to do some research!
@@ShelbySherritt I definitely feel like patchwork is more your aesthetic, but thought I’d give options. Haha
Love these, I would use the footless owl for pencils or utensils.
You really saved the best for last, so very very pretty
Yes! Excellent idea! I thought it would be cute as a succulent holder too! I was meant to prop a cutting in there for the reveal but I totally forgot as I was too excited to post the video! Whoops but you can imagine what it would look like as a planter!
You could make the one with the holes a planter one 🥰
Yes! It would look so cute with a succulent! I should actually test whether it holds water with those little holes!
The blue owl reminds me of the owl from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood!!! I love it!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your joy and enthusiasm for this owl has bled into my being. They are surely adorable and so in your style. Whether mugs or pots the ombré works well and your flora are great as usual. However the black outline stole my heart, if you put that detail on a monochrome bird or other small critter it would elevate the design. Thanks for being your sunny self, cheers from frigid Chicago Illinois USA. 💜
Aww thank you so very much for your lovely kind words! They mean the world to me! I am so grateful for your encouragement. Eek I am all warm and bubbly now!
These are perfect for your style! They are so charming and quirky. I really love how the black lines looked on that last one.
Thank you so very much! I agree! The black lines really make it pop!
I love these owl mugs! I would totally buy one...my favourite was the last one too with the black outline, but they're all gorgeous...great job! 👍
I love the owl mug. What a great mold!
Its so wonderful!
These are all so stunning, I'd love to own a dozen! Also, the feet aren't necessary, they're just tucked under his feathers. With and without feet are epic! 💚
These are stunning!!!! I love the illustrations with the outlines, im stunned on how you got them so thin as well. This mold really suits your style 💜
I must admit I paint so much better off camera as I don't have a camera in the way ahahaha! So I can get a little bit more up and personal and focus on the line work better. Thank you so much for your love and support!
I really like the way the pigments look before they are baked too. The pastel blues and pinks are so adorable
I am a sucker for pastels too! I need to find some way to preserve it and keep them food safe before firing!
Adorable, I really love the results you got with the more illustrative one, it must have been a lot of extra work but it really was worth it!
It was! I just was in the flow and sometimes its hard to film because I hold the piece so close to my eyes! I loved how it came out, it was a lot of work but sometimes its nice to just sit down and let the idea flow!
I loved the last one so much. So adorable. Who doesn’t love owls!!
I love how whimsical they are 🥰
They are so charming!
These are so adorable! I like the black outlines, glad you’re going to do more. Maybe turn that one with the hole into a planter? It’s got a drain hole. 😉
AHAHH! Yes a pre planned drainage hole!
I love them. Especially the free drawn Woodlands one. ❤
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this!
Ohhhh this is my favourite. I want an owl mug so badly. Amazing. Congratulations!
Thank you so very much! They are so much fun!
I love the pops of bright colours on the last one you painted. What a cute mold, I love owls 🦉
Thank you so much! I am so glad you like these pieces.
This mold is so darling! I love these cute little owls and the ombres were lovely.
Thank you so very much! You can really do so much with these pieces which I love so I am glad I had the theme from the comment this week to make the creative decision making easier hahaha!
They are so very sweet
The last one especially reminded me of strawberries so I'd love to see you make one covered in a patchwork of fruit patterns
Maybe it's summer setting the mood for fruit themed things?
Oh that is such a good idea! Thank you for this suggestion!
Oh my God, yaaaas. More black outline work. It all looked so good. Well done!
YAY! Thank you so much! I am so happy you liked it! I will have to try it again soon!
Love the green one the most as I don't like cutesie stuff, and the orange beak goes amazing with the green colour!
What I do love about this mould, is how much you enjoyed working with it. That for me is most important really.
Thank you so much for this lovely feedback! You just gave me a little reminder that it’s ok for things to be a little more on the earthy natural side! It’s reminded me that it’s ok to not be extra every week hahaha
I could watch you painting that cup for hours!!!
Thank you so very much for that feedback! I am so happy that part of the video was enjoyable!
Wow the black outline! I'm obsessed with owls!❤💙💚
I am so happy hearing this feedback on the black outline one! I am so happy you liked this weeks piece!
Hands down my favorite mold so far and my fav one was the owl you did off camera. They look great with their little feet and without them. Love it!!
Thank you so much for your feedback and love of these pieces! I am so happy you love them and you loved that little experimental piece I did off camera!
Love all the warm tone ones, especially the little strawberry tum on the "illustrated " one. Should do a brighter green duolingo Owl!
I love how that has become the strawberry owl unintentionally. I didn't even realise it looked like that until these comments!
I've just found your channel and I've been curious about creating pottery for years. I've no idea how to start or where to start but your channel is slowly giving me the confidence to start. Thanks for the content.
This makes me so happy to hear! Just out of curisoity would you be interested in a 'How to get Started doing Pottery at Home' video? And if so what would you like to learn from the video?
@@ShelbySherritt oh yes very much so. I'm completely blind to it all, it's just always been on interest of mine and now that my children are getting a little older I'm finding I have more time on my hands. Maybe an overview of the basics of how I can go from clay to a glazed piece? The glazing fascinates me and how the colours change from pre and post "cooking" are fascinating.
I love the whimsical owl with the black outline. The little owls are all cute.
The one with the outlines is my favorite. What a cute look with all these little details to explore.
Thank you so very much! I am so happy you liked that piece! It was so fun doing all the little details and just seeing where the idea would go!
@@ShelbySherritt ❤️
The woodland design on the owl is soooooo beautiful.
Oh my goodness! They are freaking adorable! I love the Orange ones and the two with illustrations on them. The one with the outline is my absolute favourite! God bless. You Shelby and your other half.
The purple and blue absolutely my favourite.
I am so happy you love them!
I love, love, love the owl. They turned out beautiful. I want some of those.
Thank you so very much for your love over these pieces! They really are so special!
These are undoubtedly my favorite mold so far! I have an owl mug collection and these are the sweetest!
instead of an owl in a woodland, you've made a woodland in an owl! love it
Yes hahaha! That is exactly it!
Love the one with the outline! You've got such a deft hand with the fine lines.
Wow thank you so much! I am so happy you like that one and thank you for the compliment!
So cute. Without the handle it makes a perfect little planter!
It absolutely does!
So cute! The final one is my favorite, but they are all precious!
Thank you so very much! I am so happy you like these ones!
I love this mold & yes I could watch you paint all day but like 30 minutes in or whatever-- I start questioning myself of why i'm not doing this type of stuff myself... one day when I can rent a spot or have a kiln and small work shop at home I definitely will
Absolutely! Live vicariously though these videos for a while. Its tricky getting started but once you have a kiln or a space you can hire, it makes it so much more achievable!
This is 100% my favorite mould so far in the series!!
I am so happy you adore this piece! Thank you!
I love the owl! I would totally buy one of these! Everything you touch is magical Shelby!
Aww thank you so very much this means so much!
I actually went to high school named after Erma Duncan (from what I know, she founded Duncan Ceramics) in Fresno! I get so excited when I see it's a Duncan mold!
Without feet it looks like an owl. , with feet a chicken . Love them both ways, so cute❤️♥️
YES! It totally does! The feet prong out really far! I think it looks more like an owl on a branch with its feet missing!
Those little orange feet are so adorable🤩🤩🤩 🦉🧡 and the whole range together is 🌈
It was an unintentional rainbow (almost) maybe that is what I should do next! A rainbow collection!
I love the illustrated ones the best.. and the last one - its tummy looks like a strawberry!
I didn't even realise the tummy looked like a strawberry until your comment! I love that! That was very unintentional!
The no feet ones are so cute! ( as are the ones with but for different reasons) they look so puffed up and ball like, like little baby owlets! Like pigwidgeon was described in the Harry Potter books 🦉
YES! They look like little fluff balls waiting for cuddles! Oh gosh did I miss an opportunity to do a Harry Potter inspired piece?
@@ShelbySherritt you could even have done a little grim in the bottom! Oh well I'm sure there's something a little less obscure for a Harry Potter makeover in those shelves. 😁 love your content and art style btw!
This is one of my favorite pieces. I love the colors and the illustrations.
Thank you so very much Don! I am so happy you like this one!
As a Central Californian, I feel called out :D. It's nice to hear Fresno in a positive light. I really do love the owls.
I absolutely love Owls!!! This is my favorite mold so far!
Yay! I am so happy to hear this and I am so happy it is your favourite so far!
Very cute, without handles they make great pencil holders or cutlery holders 😊❤️🇬🇧
I think so too! Imagine a collection of coloured pencils! So cute!
I think all the hours were gorgeous but I'm partial to the one without the feet great job 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I love the owl! It’s like it’s saying “Hey! Hey! Look at my feets!”
AHAHAHH! That is so cute! I read that in a cute little voice! It absolutely looks like it is saying that!
Absolutely love the final owl with black outline! 😍
All cute as usual but my favorite is the green one. Amazing as always. Thank you.
Love the black outline on that last piece! That pattern is so beautiful.
Thank you so very much! This is so lovely of you to say!
@@ShelbySherritt you’re welcome 😊
I love this piece! The black outlined one is my favorite!!
I am so happy that you love this piece! Thank you so much for your encouragement!
If you left the handle off it would make a adorable little planter as well! I absolutely LOVE these so freaking cute! 🥰🦉
HEHE! I love that you said this because I didn't say in the video but I left some without handles for planters!
Love the mold and love all the was you coloured it. I would totally buy all of them. They would also make cute pots for flowers or other plants
Yess! I totally agree. After I stacked them I thought, its going to be hard to seperate all these little dudes!
These are my favorite! Beautiful job coloring them!
Thank you so very much! I am so happy you like them!
Your videos are such a wonderful way to decompress after I watch the news and start my day with foreboding and worry. I don't do pottery, although I do a hundred other sorts of crafts. The surprise and enjoyment of discovering what's inside one of your many molds (US spelling, tee hee), are keeping me sane at the moment. Thanks for being my psychologist! Love you!
Oh my goodness I can't deal with these mugs, they are so bloody precious 😍
Aren't they! Precious is the exact word! Thank you!
This is my new favorite! I love that happy little own! The last two are my favorites!
Loving the illustrated owls.
Thank you!
This is super cute love the sunset colour and the blue. Plus the one u did off camera is so nice the black lines add to it and all the little details you've painted on so nice
Wow thank you for all this love! I think out of the ombre I love the sunset one the best! It is so warm and reminds me of the summer. It almost have a fruity feel to it which I love! Thank you for the love on that one! I had so much fun playing around with little woodland motifs!
Such an adorable mould! And I love the woodland painting
Thank you so very much!!
This channel is so delightful. I adore watching creative people work. Thank you so much for sharing!
I really love when you put plants and flowers on things. It's my favorite of your decoration styles
Thank you so very much! I love it too but I sometimes get comments saying 'you always do flowers do something else' hahahah! I don't care for those comments but I take it as an encouragement to try different things but flowers reign supreme in my books!
Love these! The one with the black outline is my favorite too!
I am so happy you like it! All the support for the black outlines has me excited and inspired to do more!
These are all so fun and beautiful! My favorite is the one you had black outlines also.
I love this! This mug would make me smile so much when drinking my morning coffee!
I love love love your owls.
Thank you so very much!!
Oh I love this one..... with and without feet!
Thank you so very much for the love!!
I love the mugs. The pot bellied one and the owl are my favs!
I always prefer the pieces you illustrate with whimsical flowers, etc. love your last one best.
I have a few mystery moulds from my time in college. One turned out to be a vintage 80s Care Bear mould! Nothing on the belly so you could make them all!
Oh my gosh!! I would love to find this mould! How cute is that!’
Soo cute. I would love these to be added to your next release. So chubby 😊
They will be hehe I just need to decide whether I am going to keep one for myself or not hehe!
Oh my goodness, these owl mugs are just the cutest 😍🦉
These turned out great. I especially like the last illustrated one. Thank you for the video 🌞🌞🌞
The black detailed owlette is my favorite, too!
I love the little blue one! It would be a cute plant holder if you pop out the glaze in the "window" or just as a catch all for a desk....
I think it would work perfectly for those suggested ideas. Thank you so much!
This mold is absolutely one of my favorites you’ve done!
They look wonderful! Really love them.
Thank you so much!
Sooo cute! I love the outlined owl! ❤️🦉
Eek, thank you so very much!!
that owl is adorable! I'm actually excited to see something from Duncan in your video as my foster father used to work for them at the time you said it was made. It's truly a small world.
Hi Shelby, this has to be my favourite of all the mystery moulds you’ve done. I enjoyed the reveal of all of them but especially the last two and hope that this mould ends up in the shop 🦉. Thanks so much. 😊
Aww thank you so much Louise this is so lovely of you to say! Thank you! They definitely will make an appearance in the shop! So keep your eyes peeled, should be the end of Jan!
I love these! I think, I prefer the ones without feet, actually and your forest/illustrative style is soooo cute.
Thank you so much! Its so hard to pick a favourite! I cant decide whether I like the feet or no feet yet!
omg i love how derpy the little feet on the front look. these are SO cute!
😍OMG, i'm so in love with this wonderful owl mugs😍🦉😍
It is so cute!! Did not know I needed an owl mug until now hahaha!
@@ShelbySherritt 🙃😁I would take one, but i'm so far away- Germany 🤪🙈
Love the one with the black outline the best, but they’re all so cute. Definitely one of my favorite moulds you’ve done so far. I just love all your videos!!
These are so so so cute! I love their little smiles and feets! Again another mould that fits your style so well.
I agree! It matches in with everything! I love it and there are so many different colours and combinations you can do with these which is wonderful!
those black outlines are marvelous!!!!!
Oh my goodness! I currently live and was raised in Fresno, CA! And my Amah loooooooves owls how awesome is this! Super cool! 🦉
Love them! They work with and without the feet and handles!
The outlined one is my favourite! Super cute. :)
