I've been in many (dozens and dozens) small New England towns, its amazing how similar they all are. Central MA is filled with towns like this. Some people might think this auditor is a little rough, but believe me in Massachusetts this is exactly how you have to talk to people in local government. Great job.
I have never once had a bad experience with any town I've lived in. Everyone I've worked with (granted, only 3 MA towns so far) has been great.

I'm just really concerned about all the hate and rhetoric getting thrown around. I don't see how we can have a unified, functional, productive, happy society if we cant talk openly. I guess thats one of the reasons I have such a hard time with Press NH's tactics - being aggressive and insulting, and wasting a ton of the town's time. I think he had a terrible experience in Brookfield. I think there was some serious unprofessionalism in some of the town employees. If I was the warden I would have had him chucked out long before it escalated to that level. Good point on the locals, in my town some of the employees refuse to even go to free training.

I look at auditors this way, they are choosing to exercise their rights in a manner that creates problems for other people. We agree that's a negative approach to a problem. However it illuminates the larger issue, government officials are responsible for upholding your rights, even if they dont like them. That includes local, small town officials at a polling station. Is it necessary? Maybe not. Is it appropriate? debatable. Is it an accurate statement to say that the result is, the people in this video, who are supposed to ensure his rights didnt, yes. That's the problem. He can do it, but should he do it? I get it, its rife with potential negative outcomes but if people dont do this what rights can government officials chose to ignore next?
This is absolutely ridiculous. People take calling the police way too lightly. This has been caused in large part by the go along to get along crowd. They have bowed to these peoples self-appointed authority to the point they now just expect it. And the lady that was crying is absolutely ridiculous and childish beyond belief. The "reaction" you give others is completely on you. People really need to learn that others do not have to tiptoe around their subjective feelings and comfort level. You shouldnt be calling the cops on fellow Americans because you are offended or uncomfortable etc.
