Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage, released in Japan as Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Flowers of Oblivion (ベルセルク 千年帝国の鷹篇 喪失花の章, Beruseruku Sennen Teikoku No Taka Hen Wasurebana no Shō), is a hack and slash action video game for the Dreamcast.[2] It is based on the popular Berserk manga by Kentarō Miura and the game is set between volume 22 and 23 of the manga; right after Guts and Puck depart for Elfhelm with Casca (chapter 182), but before Farnese, Serpico, and Isidro catch up with them (chapter 190). The music is composed by Susumu Hirasawa, who also composed the anime series' music.
Released around the same time as Shenmue, Sword of the Berserk is notable for its early use of quick time events (QTE). It used these to determine the different non-linear paths the player would take, depending on whether they succeed or fail in pressing the displayed button quickly enough during a QTE, allowing different ways to complete the game.[3]
I played it yesterday before watching this , I agree with everything :D I think the plant baby was the best thing in the game :D
This was a thoughtful, well considered, and comprehensive look at the game. Your calm and mellow approach to analysis helps highlight the bittersweet flavor of the game. It's a pity that a property like Berserk can spawn products that so sufficiently embody the definition of "Meh." But we'll always have the manga, and though it's continuation has troubled for a while, the quality of what we've managed to get so far is still a masterwork despite all else.
Though you can be at times curt, your content is still well produced, good quality, and enjoyable overall. And I look forward to seeing how you grow.
Same to you man. I'll be going over the sequel and so far I like it alot. It's like pre dark souls, it has a parry system and even a partial parry, different animations for parrys it's insane how ahead of their time this company was.
I do find that I say something that annoys some people, it's usually the one thing people point out as a sore spot.
The US localization of the game reeked of 16-bit era bullshit which really hurt the game. In the original Japanese release you did far more damage to the enemy, had a better save and continue system, and the berserk meter built up far faster allowing you to overcome the annoying sword collision issue way more often.
If this is a game you simply cannot tolerate but are a hardcore Berserk fan, I recommend playing that version instead. It makes unlocking the extras way more enjoyable, something I could never be bothered with on the US release which is a shame cause they're fun.
Also, a tool was recently released which should allow for an English subtitled Japanese version soon. Coupled with Reicast upscaled textures and a moderate ReShade to fix the washed out colors on modern displays and this game will finally become "good".
How did I not have this game back in the day when I had dreamcast? I just downloaded it and it is really good. I'd say it's the first Devil May Cry. 3 stars out of 3. A must have. Pacing myself so I can enjoy it and even stopped your review so I don't spoil it for myself.
I found the game to be pretty unique and interesting mostly, like an oddity. But yeah, I've never made my way through the devil may cry games much. But I want to!

I swear this dynasty berserk game is my fault. Forneverworld dropped a vid. When he was like this gaming company is giving you the power to make anime games. I immediately thought of berserk as I was watching and reading it at the time. Then I thought how this with a slight dynasty warriors feel would be fucking great so I sent in my request and we got this
"all you do is drawing some pictures". "Game development is way harder than drawing manga". How many roles of multiple people are you forcing into one? Is Miura and his 2 or 3 assistants equivalent to a studio with hundreds with the cutting edge of tech at their disposable VS Ink and Pens?
Because of the incredible focus and amount of work that one and only one must envision in manga, leads to people like Hayao Miyazaki saying that the Nausicaa manga was the hardest thing he ever did. And that he can't help to be throughoutly impressed by those who do it for decades.
@@BinaryDood It was a little bit short sighted of me and I knew it would ruffle some feathers, but come on. It's been like 30 years. Entire franchises have started and finished by the time we got off the boat. I said it just a sense of scale. I do appreciate the time Miura puts into Berserk, but he's going to die before it's finished.
@@NobleAbsinthe Yeah, I understand. But I never know what's going on behind the scenes. Live and let live. If it dies it dies. I think nowadays everyone has a backlog bigger than their own lives anyway.
I just think there is some behind the scenes stuff that is messed up that we simply will never know. Vagabond had a similair fate, and HxH. But there is just nothing we can do, it doesn't matter comparing it to anything else.

"Worst" compared to what? The other berserk games which are also good? Bad thumbnail. The game is good and its issues are mostly the fault of the dreamcast controller and the era the game came out.
It was a clickbait title to draw attention. I never really bash the game...
