Grew up with an early 300 that had the auger crank outside the cab. Had to get out an climb around behind the cab to crank it in and out. Thankfully a few years later upgraded to another 300 like this with the bigger cab, quick change header and amazingly a working AC.

Nice looking combine. I had a late model 300 I had a 22 2 row wide head and a 13' grain table. It was a good machine just small. I shelled corn and cut beans and small grain and I combined clover seed with it too. I had a 550 and I sold it to the neighbor when I went to just making hay. Massey had good combines and easy heads to get on and off. Nice 100 dollar purchase.

I farmed a half section in southern Minnesota, and, I had one of these. I picked my corn, so I only used it for beans and small grain. It was a terrific combine for a small farm. I used a pickup for small grain, we swathed our grain. That slant six was a great engine, ran cheap, and very reliable.

@@tmonteIH I usually had about sixty acres of beans, and, about twenty of oats or wheat, the rest was corn and hay ground. I picked and cribbed by corn, and, then shelled with a MM 1200 sheller. It was just the right size for my farm. If I had stayed farming, I probably would have switched to a corn head and a bigger combine, but, I went a different direction with my life.
