THIS is when black music was GREAT.
Truth Indeed AMEN
That's because these women didn't need videos to show there talent. They just relied on their incredible voices, Aretha, Diana, Etta, Gladys, Patti, Martha, Dionne. I'm sorry if I missed any singers, but these were tge women that truly bring me back to childhood/youth. All talented amazing singers whose voices take you to memories, get you moving on glorious ways and fill you to many wonderful emotions. God I love it.
this is when 'music' was great...............
RIP John (mosogotam) and thanks for ALL of your extended versions and making Motown songs even greater - we fans all miss you!!!

Everything about this is just off the charts.
The xylophone, the drums the harmonies, Ms Ross lead vocals...... EVERYTHING 🎼🎶🎵🎵🎼🎶🎵🎵🎼😎
It all works perfectly!
Killer🔥 I watch this extended version regularly. So good. Motown perfection. 🎵🎵
This song was arranged so, so perfect. I can imagine the fun many of the Motown artists had creating all of this legendary classic music. This song has so much energy. Wow 🤩
This should be the Motown anthem. Never a better a better sound.
And Mike’s Bari
This song .....🔥 and the Funk Brothers. I never get tired of it.
❤
That bass guitar line is killin' it
The great great Funk Brother James Jamison

We will fight for your rights to exist in peace. Thanks for teaching me your lessons & sharing your AMAZING MUSIC with us little young whiteys in our hood. So PROUD OF OUR FRIENDSHIP! 👍👍
Check out some Joe Tex awesome stuff
My favorite song by The Supreme! Momma and daddy always played the Supremes jams around the house when i was a kid! The joint was jumping! Whan an incredible sound! RIP to the beautiful, the incomparable, and the vivacious Florence Ballard! 😁😁💘💝💖
RIP to the beautiful Mary Wilson! 😢😢🎈🎈🎈🙏🙏
DEBS,I'm a Manchester twisted wheel 1968 mod. The original was a great favourite in that all nighter well before the Wigan casino was even going. You've got good taste 👌
God bless you, lot of widnes girls and boys got the last train from Warrington 'Carlton club before running for the last train to Manchester.
RIP Sis Mary Wilson(1944-2021) thank you for keeping the Supreme Legacy alive.
These earphones are garbage ! Lol, gotta love Diane !!!
Wow never knew she was dead so sad 😞 Rip
amen! heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still sad. god bless. good friend.
Wilson was the only stable personality in the group. If not for her the Supremes might have fallen
apart a lot sooner.
True history 💞R.I.P😎
I've been a fan of Motown, for 55 years.
I'm still a fan. Thank you Barry Gordy.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This was when you was really in
Love the real thing oh yah baby Love! Been here for 51yrs
Why can't ANYONE write music this great anymore???? Wow! Incredible.
They can't scratch it.
Because no one modern can perform it.
True. 60s performers had so many great songwriters - HDH at Motown, Bacharach and David, King and Goffin, Laura Nyro writing for others as well as herself and others. There are some good songwriters today - I like Troye Sivan - but most of today's hits sound like they were done by a computer programmed to "insert hook here" and so on.
@@Furry67THATWAS A GOOD ONE :)
Amen to that they all copy the great ones
Now this is my favorite of the Supremes. The Funk Brothers are the BEST!!!!!
Ain't it just COOOOL. Imagine being in Hitsville studio just digging the vibe when this was recorded. No click track no Sinclavier just amazing musicians feeding of each other's creative talent. Awesome.
Mary Wilson, you were and will always be a Supreme lady.
It is true death comes like a thief in the night and it hurts so bad.
You're so right, Therone. And to think she looked and sounded great in a CZcams video 2/6/21, just coming up to 2 weeks ago. I was shocked. At the end of December the same could be said for Dawn Wells for did a video just days before she went, BUT she had Covid. Mary (as far as I know) was fine. You just never know in this life.
@@robmcgowan4034 I cannot shake this pain of losing Mary Wilson. I lost my mother 5 years ago and this pain feels just like that pain when I lost my mother .
I had the pleasure of meeting her twice. She signed her book Supreme Faith. She was warm and friendly and beautiful.
@@theronedawson3236 Ms. Wilson was the glue to the Sups. Her passing was like a close relative.
I started listening to some of the best R & B when I was a kid. I began playing classical piano at the age of 8. I had a 6 1/2 octave voice-before Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma took away my upper register last year. To this day; I remember every Supremes, Stylistics, Smokey Robinson, Temptations & Marvin Gaye song. However, Diana Ross spoke to me through her vocals & her angelic beauty & grace. So very sad we have lost half of the irreplaceable Supremes group.May Flo-and now Mary-RIP. They will never be forgotten & their musical legacy lives on!
still sad. masks! god bless!
Seriously....NO ONE writes anything even CLOSE to this EXCELLENT today...also the FUNK Brothers- and Holland- Dozier-Holland .....incredible geniuses....all of them. Makes this old white chick Grandma....so very happy to rock on and on and on!!! Thank you!
The drum beat, the bass line, brass stabs, vocals! If this doesn't do you, nothing will
Yep. I almost cred when I saw The Documentary about The Funk Brothers. Even now I listen to Motown Song and when I do I try to figure out who performed on it.
It's been doing me about 35 years, when I first discovered it. I did not know the song when it originally came out, though. Just a tad too young!
The Vibes and Guitar licks are on the money and deep in the pocket
@@TheIridium6 shot mom
@@laminage I was absolutely in tears when they ended it with the concert and announced the funk brothers that were already gone
CLASSIC Sixties. Proud to be a product of the '60s.
Rip sister mary Wilson you are truly missed1😥😥😥😥🤲😘
Holland, Dozier, Holland deserve the credit for the success of so many artist. The Funk brothers as well. Almost impossible not to succeed with those two camps in your corner.
Loved Standing in the Shadows of Motown
The true epitome of motown groove. This is still a smoker in the underground clubs
Magical... simply magic.... what a mix!
Don’t understand how 164 don’t like this music...scratching my head. This was & still is the best music that came out.. MOTOWN Sound , sound of young America & then... FANIA,, yeah baby!! What a beat... funk brothers... the best
They are Jealous IDIOTS SMDH
Fantastic driving beat. Can't get enough!!!
Wow!!!! I can remember blasting this tune, having a few adult beverages and tearing up that rug. At least I thought I was and great mix.
This song reflects the spirit of Detroit in the best days of GM for me!!
I can just picture those folks pushin' those ol' cars through the lines!!
My man worked the Cadillac plant back in the 70's!! Good ol' times...!!😉😉🎉✝️⚜️
Funk Bros at their best ...sheer class never to be forgotten
RIP Mary Wilson, passed away Feb. 8, 2021. My favorite Supreme. Your music lives on forever in the hearts of Motown fans.
What an incredible group they were. The Supreme signature sound was so original and unique. With a lot of those girl groups from that era sounded similar but with the Supremes there was no mistake who it was. No other girl group in any era come close to these ladies. RIP Mary and Flo; you ladies are so loved, and thank you for your contributions to one of the greatest groups EVER. Peace out. 🎼🎼🎼🎼🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
Couldn't have said it better......
"MOTOWN" the epitome of making /producing Black music all of these other record companies are [inferior] they produce inferior soulless SH!T💩💩💩💩
❤️❤️❤️🙏😩 XX
Very true. Extremely distinctive
Motown put out some of the best music ever. I grew up with it and it's great that I can enjoy it whenever the mood hits me.
I’m still here, Mogo! Half my back gone & now cancer. But I have your Motown tunes remixed ! I’m already in heaven !!
60,s 70,s 80s, can't.be ever ever.ever.oh my God . touched.no chance in hell.
This comment should have more likes it's the truth 😅😅😅👑
The Funk Brothers knew how to jam, but more importantly Holland, Dozier, and Holland knew how to write.
Exactly right & that’s the real issue. What happened to song writing? It just vanished!!
My words exactly. Funk brothers were incredible and so were HDH
Ee
They were one hell of a combination!
@@mariahewitt1841 Exactly, there a few decent singer songwriters around, though not the kind who win Grammy but most of today's pop songs seem to have come out of a computer program - insert hook here, etc. 60s you had HDH at Motown, Gamble and Huff in Philly, Bacharach and David, Mancini, Carole King with and without her husband and I could keep going.
This literally sends shivers up my spine
One of the coolest songs of all time
How can anyone dislike this??? Just blows my mind, such a great song from The Supremes!
Irregardless of the drama between Diana, Mary and Florence their CHEMISTRY was unmatched. Thank you LORD for the Supremes and Motown. They gave the world more LIFE.
Sorry, but their is no such word called "irreguardless.
@@alanwilson1820 Thanks, I know. I am making a point -- 'regardless' of what you think ;)
Love this restored version, more than ever!!!!Phenomenal performers, positive energy!!!
Those were the great days....1960's had all the great songs of the Supremes...rock all night long.
the youth of today don.t deserve the music we had in our youth. we had manners and respect and the music then was ours. . NOT MANUFACTURED . PURE MOTOWN.
Thank you so much for this extended version. My dad taught me how to dance to this song and now he’s really sick and can’t walk anymore. He’s one of the best dancers I know so listening to it does break my heart but it reminds me of how blessed I am as a dancer and how blessed I am to have two amazing dancers for parents.
Divining...I appreciate your kind words...my best to you and your dad.
I was a child in the 1960s.
Living in the " ghetto ".... inner city...life was magical then, being a child, ignorance was bliss✌👍
Motown Magic This funky sexy music helped shift the American culture and influenced the planet Love this!! The mix is excellent
Lord Have Mercy....Such wonderful memories!!! My senior graduating/class 1966, at George Washington High School in Los Angeles!! Last year, 2017; we celebrated our 50th Year Reunion! I remember doing a dance called 'The Charge'...and of course the 'Philly Dog' to this jam!!
This was by far the funkiest of all The Supremes songs! I'm flashing back to 1966. Me and my Mom sitting on the fire escape on Washington Ave, Bronx listening to this over and over! 2:55 wasn't enough!!
It was smokin' and funky in Detroit back in 1966 too!!
I was listening to this I the very early 70swhat a time that was for the tamla motown label
Yeah- the Bronx in ‘66. -🙂 happy times!
Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard, The Supremes. The greatest girl group EVER!
And the Emotions
Much preferred Marvelettes,
Marvalettes by a landslide!
@@thumper3063 those chicks aren't even in the conversation.
@@alanwilson1820 That was a great girl group.
I am well over seven to years old it gives me sheer delight to see the comments from the younger generation. How much they love the Motown sound it has an African beat the funk Brothers really put the funk and Motown music. I should hope that the Young generation that listen to Motown music pass it down to your offsprings it's in a DNA mother Africa.
Still here & listening to your great mixes @ 68 yrs old
anybody who loves motown like you is our kind of people.
Love our work.
Motor City Motown This music brings everything back What a time to be young 4th grade I guess Love this!!! Love This Mix

My heart ❤ is still itching, and I'm 64 years younger,!!! Groovy baby..GROOVY

Haven't heard this song since I was 8 years old. It and percy sledge were the first albums I got. My sister and I sit on the living room floor and listened over and over. Just like I listen now. 😀💙😄
THE FUNK BROTHERS AND HOLLAND DOZIER ALWAYS
PRODUCE EXCELLENT QUALITY
MUSIC FOR MOTORCITY'S FINEST
RECORDING ARTIST
Those old songs and the saxophone. You sure don't hear that anymore. Classical
R.I.P
His extended music echoes in eternity !
The Funk Brothers really knew rhythm. I especially like the drums because I was a wannabe drummer in high school, college and in my own rock & roll band. I dance the same way!!!! With rhythm. I am a drummer on the dance floor. I don't miss a beat. Believe me, I do know music.
I love great northern soul / Motown. This has it all. Always loved this track. Extended version superb.
We were dancing in the street down in Tennessee country. At 14 yrs old to this song.
THE FUNK BROTHERS ALWAYS PROVIDE GREAT QUALITY MUSIC
WITH MOTORCITY'S FINEST, LIKE
THE FINEST VINTAGE WINE.
THAT ONLY GETS BETTER
WITH TIME.
Love this song
Always was my favorite of all their songs.... The xylophone sounds incredible !
Heard this today in the grocery store I didn’t stop til I found it ❤️
These gals were all so perfectly fine and gorgeous. Can't find many like that these days.
Love That Sax. That is a musician playing.
It's the "Funk Brothers"!
These extended motown versions are just amazing..makes me feel 22 again dancing all night.
Bob...thanks very much!!
Tallent, style, beautiful, and we're still listening. Simple, love from England 🇬🇧
I love these extended versions. It really gets you into the music.
Robert Hobbes agrees with every1. That backup keyboard/bass/xylophone/snare sound !! Definitely Motown '60s. I still dance to this tune a lot since I'm self-employed. Chills too! Definitely O.M.G. !!!!!!!!
I REMEMBER DRIVING DOWN TO ATLANTIC CITY IN THE 60S AND 70S HEARING THIS ON THE WAY......IT IS ATLANTIC CITY AND MOTOWN AT ITS BEST!!!!
💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 heyyyyy 2020!!! And this STLL ROCKS!!
The Xylophone loud and clear!!!!! Such a great jam!!!!
RIP Mosogotam John Perrone. You were a musical genius, and more importantly a great, down to earth personality.
Fantasic what a song and the funk brothers backing is top
What a beat ; blown away awesome, and the bass sax ; be still my dancing feet .....!!!!!!
Saturday night lockdowns .
Bottle of wine then jack Daniels with CZcams on playing through surround sound system full blast.
Magnificent 😎
That's rockin it...
One of the all time great hooks!! This may be the 50th time I've listened to this--good LORD!!!
The Supremes ..class act..unlike todays ..Holland and Dozier Holland were geniuses! Jamerson? YES!!
Yes INDEED AMEN
Berry Gordy had the best “ear for music” and put together the best talent we have ever seen. The Funk brothers are just a righteous group of incredible musicians…..an amazing guy at an amazing time in music. Berry, we love it.
If I was stuck on a desert island I'd want this with me. Just dance and dance.
This extended version is just brilliant. You took my favorite parts of an already great song and gave the version I can’t stop listening to.
A real jam session...
Some serious jamming going on right here. I love this extended version. I could dance all night long with this playing. Pure joy listening to it.
Absolutely STILL delicious!!!
My favorite Supremes song. I want to crank this up loud and annoy my grandkids!
There will never be another studio band like the funk brothers
They just did... THE DAMN THANG.....BIT BY THE LOVE BUG...OUCH WITH SMILES...❤❤❤❤
The Golden Age of music.
YES
i can listen to this bass and piano ....for ever
i could listen to this recording over and over, i LOVE this.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
WHEN IT COMES TO
"MOTORCITY'S FINEST"
FANTASTIC -- "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart" is my favorite recording by The Supremes.
The Funk Brothers had more number one hits then any other band including the Beatles in the history of popular music
*_I love this old school music...._*
That music is sooo damn TIGHT. The Supremes all time GREAT!
The Motown sound and it's singers still beats, by far, any of the modern rubbish played today.🕺🕺🕺🕺🎼🎺🎻🎸🥁🥁🎷🎷
This was the only song that Flo would sing and dance to that would really take her out of her depression. This was her jam!!
YOU CAN REALLY HEAR FLO....OH MY GOD......I LOVE THIS SONG..I SAW THEM SING THIS ON ED SULLIVAN BACK IN THE 60'S ...THEY BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN !!!!!!!!
Why was she depressed ?
Weight, early childhood trauma, alcoholism, relationship issues, problems with the boss and the music industry in general. Just to name a few.
This song really JAMS!!!
@@NOV123 Raped as a teenager !!!
How could you not want to dance to this tune?
We had great music that we enjoyed and appreciated, but we had no idea that music would one day get as weak as it is today. We cling to past hits like this because it's all we have as of 2022.
2nd fav Supremes song. It has a grit and toughness that no other record of theirs had. The throbbing bass line rocks! Shocked this didn't go to #1.
Piercing, but feminine. crisp, clear, articulate, loud but soft. Diana's vocals were amazing
Still it had a slightly hard edge that made the song really get up in your face. I love it and it will always be one my very favorites.
Oh...the fashions....and the black eyeliner...with the wing that went out to there!!
I’m thankful to have grown up in the 90’s and experience the music i did! it will never ever ever be the same again….But man I would have torn the 60’s up. Motown , Elvis … sign me tf up.
