this ship seems to have a lot of power in her gut .I wish she would be better armed though, but she is beautiful

A good start I guess, I do agree, they should have built her a little larger, for additional defensive and offensive capabilities.
But I believe that could be done in the future if absolutely necessary through a big upgrade.

What a timely class of ships. The Polar 5 classification might be enough to allow them to operate year around in the NW Passage in a decade or two given the rate that the Arctic is warming. Good stuff (not the thawing part.).

Nice ship but to lightly armed for a military ship of this displacment.

Its armament is a a tiny 25mm cannon, the type that is usually mounted on small wheeled APCs. No missiles, no air defences of any kind, apparently no antisub capability aside from whatever those repurposed civilian Sikorsky helicopters have I suppose... less armament than a 900 tonne WW2 corvette. It's nice looking but It's not really a warship, Seems like more of a coast guard vessel that was given to the navy for some reason.

Hopefully these are fitted for but not with proper armaments. So when the frigate replacements are cut by half we can arm these up to Corvette level

Our sailors warrant better defences should they be confronted by a less friendly northern neighbour.

Now retired Admiral Norman was not impressed with its pathetic arsenal. So why should we??
Especially considering the 12 Kingston vessels had thier 40mm removed 2014 & replaced with nothing.
Plus on west coast there are 8 Orca vessels that have nothing on board. So its either a coast guard fleet or a school for sea cadets.
Four submarines. More dangerous to thier crew than any hostiles.
But we got 40 admirals. WTF
