Tone Demo of a Marshall JMP build by Mojotone. I added custom mods in the circuit (more gain and much more). All tones do not have post EQ except for the last riff.
Guitar: Les Paul
Boost: BB Preamp
Cab/Speaker: Greenback Style - Hudba
Before i started working amps myself, 20+ years ago i had a JCM800 50 watt split channel. Took to guy to be refreshed and new filter caps(those tall blue ones. LCR?. So when i got the amp back it was nice n quiet and all, but the sound was very spongy overdrive, and didnt have that "Punch"! He put in those small size( but same value) Ruby caps. I got the old ones back and put them in... Bang!! There was that bug powerful Punch again! Just want to share that info. Certain circuit parts overlooked can definitely change the sound and performance of an amp.
The blue caps were Daly caps I think
@@Johnsormani LCR or other names. Basically just the tall blue ones that Marshall's used in all their classic amps.
That's actually really interesting, I wonder if it had something more to do with the manufacturer. I've found that F&T can caps are really great replacements for the old dalys, despite the size difference. In fact I felt like my marshalls got alot of their response back when I renewed the caps.
Great Tone and great playing too! Rock on.
Sounds killer !!! Nice job
Great playing and tones.
That sounds killer👍
SICK!!!! I want one!
Your micing technique is spot on. Everything you record sounds good.
Nice!!
Just the video i want to see. Im ordering this kit.
| Just made the schematic for the mods. It is imbedded with the actual Mojotone schematic so it's easier to follow and compare. Let me know whats the best way to send the PDF file to you and I'll send it @antilaw9911
Just emailed you. Thanks for the awesome video !!
Any demo that starts out with "Cat Scratch Fever" automatically gets a thumbs up.👍 Hell Yeah!!!!!!!
Ok the first song is by an obscure Canadian band called Goddo - song is called sweet thing…
Can you do some captures of your mods for Neural Amp Modeler, please? Would be awesome. The schematics also could be posted on the Google drive or upload on mediafire website in case if you want to skip your email box. Thanks brother, bloody awesome work on every amp.
I won’t be doing any Nueral or Kemper profiles of anything because I tested the data myself. The digital capture of a tube amp such as this does not sound and behave the same. There’s much more sonic information from a real amp than any digital capture can get. A lot of it has to do with the nature of high voltage.
Amazing! What's the intro riff? I have forgotten and there is no way for me to recall the name!
Cat Scratch Fewer.
@@yevhenfedorets6509 Thanks a bunch
sounds more like a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister than a JMP but still pretty good
The amp was modded so…
Sounds like a Marshall to me and I have owned many.
@@chrisjones8592 no stock marshal has this much gain
my marshall has larger ballz than the average marshall :D
That first song wasn’t cat scratch fever it was by a band from Canada and I can’t member who they are… The front man was a bass player… And it was a power trio… Gotto or Gatto
Like it!!! How can I order it with complete?
I believe you can ask them to build you one 100% done, but they won't put custom mods in it, it would be bone stock. You would have to talk to them on the phone and fill in the order from there. If you want the head shell like mine (original with the center pipe line in the middle) you have to ask them to make it like that too, cause they have their pipe line raise where the plexi heads are.
Thanks for information that very helpful, I will follow this up.
@@MaximusBakerGuitarI’m going to order the stock amp but go with a legendary tones Mr scary mod in v2. Super excited now.
What mods did you do?
I'm going to be building the same one next year. Is it pretty brutal to put together?
If you understand electronics it’s a simple process.
What mods are in it? Sounds great! Did you do the mods yourself?
I did the mods myself, its all hand wired so it was easy to perform. In basic, whats going on is there's a capacitor early in the gain stage thats been swapped out with a smaller value which gives it more gain like adding another tube but no tube. The other mod or more like (spec) is the main voltages are lower, more like the early 1978-1984 800's, which gave them a more clearer open sound, unlike the 1986 and newer 800's have a much higher voltage which makes them sound more muffled. Some of the bass has been reduced early in the circuit and later added back with a fixed depth. There's a small electrolytic cap somewhere in the circuit, it gives it more balls to the sound. I would have to do a separate video talking about the schematic if theres enough demand for it.
@@MaximusBakerGuitar Thanks.. I'd love to see a video on you explaining all that. I'm thinking about building one of these. Yours sounds great and so does your playing!
@@MaximusBakerGuitar which caps and what were the value changes? I’m probably going to build one of these and would want a similar amount of gain.

Mods did you do to it ?
You can email me or dm me on instagram if you are interested to see the modded schematic
@@MaximusBakerGuitar Yeahh man how do I do I want to start a amp build maybe you can help me understand the circuitry
What speakers?
Greenbacks in a 4x12
@@MaximusBakerGuitar Nice. That's what I use.
To compressed!
It’s not compressed, you’re hearing tonal balance. Not booming bass resonance because the cab was micd like crap.
