    Love this era of 2204's -2203's. Some of the best amps Marshall ever made.

    See, that's the thing right there! Marshall's midrange is perfect. It records perfectly. It cuts through the live mix perfectly. The bedroom amps are deceiving. When you're playing by yourself they sound great and feel great. Take them out of the bedroom and they disappear. This amp will sit perfectly in the mix once everyone else is playing and be inspirational. You won't be wondering all night why your amp doesn't sound like it did when you were at home.

    Exactly how a pissed off OG Marshall should sound like. I miss my stock ‘77 JMP so damn much man. Great clip, cheers 🍻

    Amazing tone! Had you ran a tube screamer in the mix...my eyes would have rolled to the back of my head and my toe nails would have shot off my toes and stuck into the wall across the room! Love this sonic beast!

    My favorite rock tone ever, I’ll hopefully be getting a 1977 soon

    Such a usable bedroom and recording amp now, thanks to the Boss Wazacraft Tube Amp Expander. The tone of this one is just a monster. People are going to start snatching these beasts up now.

    Nice. Have a 78, myself. They really come alive about halfway up the master volume. Thankful for the Suhr RL!

      @blakemansfield2356  Před 4 lety +1

      LPMojoGL Yeah for sure- around 11 for this one is where the power amp kicks in heavily which is RIGHT at drummer levels so it’s perfect. Still sounds great with the volume lower honestly. It’s just super meaty, honest, and raw. I’ve thought about getting jmp 2204 to compare but there are so many other amps I want to try.

    • @LPMojoGL
      @LPMojoGL Před 4 lety +1

      Ha. I also have a modded 4010, and used to have a JMP 2204. They all sound a bit different. A good 2204, imo, sounds huge and has more of a singing mids thing going on. What else are you looking at?

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  Před 4 lety +1

      LPMojoGL Had a horizontal 800 2204. Sounded great but so damn loud. I mean crushingly loud to get the sound filled out. Looking at some high gainers at the moment- Mark series. JP2C possibly an OG C+

    • @LPMojoGL
      @LPMojoGL Před 4 lety

      Nice. I played a c++ that was stupid great. The JP2C rox, too. Looking forward to more great vids. Cheers!
      Oh yeah, have a go with a Naylor if you ever get the chance.

    I have a friend at NASA who works on Fighter Jets, and he says even wiring length is crucial to performance. Things like this must be kept consistent in order for top flight machinery to function within parameters. Like the exclusive use of the 4n7 bright capacitor. Nuances such as this and others give this Marshall it distinctive KERRANG sound !!!

      Would be cool if they did, but it's schematically so similar to the 2203 that they already make. I don't know if I see it happening, but I'd like for you to be right.

    • @xthexadvantagex
      @xthexadvantagex Před 4 lety +3

      They still make it. The JMP 2203 and the JCM800 2203 are schematically the same. The only difference is the manufacturer and quality of components.

    • @rickking5370
      @rickking5370 Před 4 lety +1

      It would be totally cool, if they reissue this 1980 Marshall head. At one time I had four of them at one time. And I wish I never got rid them.

  • @speedunknown
    @speedunknown Před rokem

    Sorry, but absolutely nothing beats the Marshall JMP or Plexi 1987. These amps were built with singleness of purpose. Screw flexibility or any type of multi-use ideals. This is the amp for “Hard Rock.” Almost had one many years ago, but it was sold out from under me. I later bought the 2204, and it was in the form “of a very early JCM 800, it 3:10 was not the same at all. The nuance of the wiring and amp design makes the JMP unique and powerful. “Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.

  • @sjb454
    @sjb454 Před 3 lety

    How I wish my 77 JMP combo sounded half that good. Input 1 has about 1/3 the gain that thing has. I use a Friedman BE in input 2 to get gain.

    • @rokkebill
      @rokkebill Před 3 lety

      You have to turn up the master too, then you get that gain.

    • @0megalul309
      @0megalul309 Před 2 lety

      mid 79's had more gain on them

  • @8bitBarry1
    @8bitBarry1 Před 2 lety

    This is so far removed from the sound of a stock 2203 / 2204 amp - you must have some mods or plugins going on here

  • @paulkielt9301
