Great demo. I had to smile when it came to the Zakk Attack '88 section. The Boss SD-1 can sound a bit meh with some amps, but into a 2203 it is pure magic.

I play a ‘79 JMP 2204 through a 60’s Marshall B cab loaded with 25w English greenies with Les Paul p90 guitars. Crank that amp up with a LP Jr. Hear that sound? That’s the sound of women runnin’ round with no panties on. Have mercy Miss Percy.

Clicked for Leon playing a Gil Yaron into a glorious Marshall. Stayed for the entire video, because this was completely amazing. Zen absolutely crushes it again with some of the best amp demos on CZcams.

I've got this amp myself. I don't think I will ever hear an amp that has a better overdriven sound than this one. I like it with all kinds of speakers except for the V30. This video confirms that as well for me.

That's the definitive rock sound. I personally think I prefer the 50 watt JMP 2204 version with a little less clean headroom. They are both also nearly identical to the JCM 800 equivalents, but much more pleasing to the eye.

Very nice video! Great sounds and playing! I´ve owned this same amp since 1985, new filtercaps a couple years ago and checking up on circuitboard and soldering. I recently got hold of a 90-s 1960AX cab with the 6402 coned greenback remakes and it made huge difference nailing those vintage rock sounds (used to run 1991 V-30s for a more "metal" sound) . A little lead-push from a SD-1 and a dunlop wah is all I need right now. Thank you for the inspiration!

Excellent video! I have a 1976 Marshall JMP 2203 MkII Master Model Lead 100W, and it screams. I have played JCM800's and I even had a 71 class A head. The 2203 just gives you great tone and everything that you want in a Marshall. I bought mine from a friend in 1980. It came with a 1960A cabinet all for the whopping price of $600.00. It has been my companion since. I had a 50 watt /switch put in for small clubs.

I have a 1977 and done the Friedman FAT CAP mod: a 330uf cap across the 820 ohm resistor that connects to the 3rd pin on V2 to ground. It thickened it up and gave it a slight top end boost as well.

Great video guys! I have a 1977 JMP and it is absolutely incredible. Lots of tone shaping using simple controls. Very loud amp but gives you all kinds of rock tones. It’s not a rectifier and it never tries to be. I run mine through a 1960AX with G12M Greenbacks.

ALL the clips sound great, but the Badlands riff was so spot on, it got me to wondering if that's the amp he used for that album. I assumed it was a "1959" style amp, but in that clip Leon nails it with the 2203! (it's probably 90% Leon and 10% amp and cab anyway)

The JMP 2203 Master Volume was released in the mid 70's. When the JCM800 series was introduced, many models were carried over mostly unchanged other than the cosmetics. So yes this is very similar to what most people think of when you say 800.
