      Right there with you. We're fans of immersive music in Dolby Atmos and 360RA, particularly over speakers. It's actually kind of surprising that none of the streaming companies offer a music streamer with an actual HDMI output with decoding or passthrough of Dolby Atmos and 360RA. There are plenty of Dolby Atmos music tracks on Amazon Music, Apple Music and TIDAL and very few high-quality streaming devices to play them through. Mostly video streamers like FireTV Stick or AppleTV 4K. We need a high-quality music streamer that supports immersive/spatial audio and we think WiiM would be a great company to deliver that. And don't forget to support 360RA while you're at it. :)

    Hi from Toronto ☕️Steve !
    I’m currently running the Wiim Pro feeding via optical output to my
    new Denafrips Aees 12-1 DAC and it’s glorious!
    I’m looking for a streamer that rivals LUMIN or Rose from Wiim with the i2S output,as I said I’ve already got a decent DAC .
    Great product and love the software.
    The screen is a nice touch ..but the app on my Apple IPad Pro is great.
    Looking forward to see what you bring in the remaining 24’ .
    Take care 👍

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem +2

      Not aware of too many affordable streamers out there with i2s outputs, other than the Mercury V3. But if WiiM gets enough requests for i2s, they'll probably consider it.

    How about mono block feature for the WiiM Amp Pro that would be really nice. By just adding a toggle switch to the back to run in mono mode for those of us that need more power. Is this doable? Thank you kindly!

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem +1

      Not sure if WiiM's Class D amp topology would support bridging to mono. Maybe someone from WiiM will comment at some point. But even if they added this feature, they'd also need to sell a companion monoblock power amp based on the same amplifier design so you could get a stereo match. And that seems like a stretch to me. I think it might just be a better idea to go with an unpowered streamer like the WiiM Pro Plus or the WiiM Ultra and match it up with any stereo power amp or integrated amp, or a pair of monoblock power amps if you like. Lots of good sounding integrated amps and power amp choices out there these days.

    is the Ultra Roon Ready? if so, does the Roon software take the place of the Wiim software?

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem +1

      The WiiM Ultra is Roon ready. All WiiM streamers other than the Mini are Roon Ready or are pending Roon Ready certification. You don't have to replace WiiM Home with Roon entirely. You could use WiiM Home for streaming apps and just use Roon for local digital music file access. Like most streamers, WiiM needs a uPnP or DLNA server on your home network in order to access digital music files on your home network. Roon takes care of that. The other option is to install a uPnP or DLNA server on your home network to access local digital music files.

  • @MakeItWain
    @MakeItWain Před měsícem +1

    I feel like WiiM doing a full like 7 inch touch screen streamer (like the old Logitech squeeze box touch or like a Raspberry Pi Streamer) would sell like hot cakes. One made just to stream music and go to an external DAC.

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem +1

      That sounds cool, but since WiiM doesn't sell external standalone DACs, and selling it without a DAC would make it more of a niche product, I think it would make more sense to include the DAC in it. I still have a Squeezebox Touch and use it up in my summer home. It is nice to have the larger screen sometimes.

    • @MakeItWain
      @MakeItWain Před měsícem +1

      @@ecoustics for sure probably a niche item, just thinking about how they could reduce cost. I think a lot of people may already have their own dac/amps but just want that touch screen aspect. imo anyways.
      Even just the wiim mini hardware but a larger touch screen is perfect too.

    0:31 Is it down mix multichannel Dolby digital to 2.1 with lfe information .. and have option to cross over out signal to amp and sub ?

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem

      The current WiiM platform is stereo so I'd assume any output from the Ultra streamer is going to be stereo (2 channel) even if the signal it gets from the TV over HDMI is DD 5.1. As to whether WiiM keeps the ".1" as an LFE channel from the source or the downmix folds the LFE channel into the stereo mix, I can't say, definitively. But I expect it's folded into a two-channel mix. The WiiM streamers that have subwoofer outputs (like the WiiM Amp and Ultra) do include bass management so you can adjust subwoofer crossover point, high pass filter, gain and phase right in the WiiM Home app.
      Since the WiiM Ultra uses HDMI ARC (not eARC) it's not going to support multi-channel music like Dolby Atmos. There are some edge cases where Atmos can be passed over HDMI ARC (if the DD+ streaming bandwidth is 640kbps or below) but *technically* you need HDMI eARC to pass Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to an external decoder. We haven't seen a single music streamer from any company that does immersive audio (Dolby Atmos/Sony 360RA) yet.
      Since the Ultra isn't out yet, no one but WiiM can really answer any detailed questions about it other than what's in the published specs. But WiiM did publish a Q&A about the WiiM Ultra here: faq.wiimhome.com/support/solutions/articles/72000630074-wiim-ultra-questions-answers

    • @kvrhifi
      @kvrhifi Před měsícem +1

      @@ecoustics thanks for replying. All I want .1 channel lfe information for movies watch so that I can enjoy deep rumbling bass with grater dynamic contrast. So single piece for music streaming, movies with bass management.

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem +2

      The Ultra will support that, as long as you've got a stereo or 2.1 channel speaker system. The HDMI ARC port connects to your TV and will carry any sound from the TV's tuner, connected devices or internal apps to the Ultra for bass management (and soon room correction, too).

    • @ecoustics
      @ecoustics  Před měsícem

      That will be cool. I know CZcams Music historically didn't work with 3rd parties but now you can get it on Garmin Smart Watches and even on Apple Home Pod speakers. So hopefully WiiM will deliver it soon, as the WiiM rep stated. Until then, you can access CZcams Music via Chromecast on every WiiM streamer other than the Mini.

      WiiM Amp Pro is already in progress but it won't have a screen and uses the same amp module as the Amp with with a better DAC and a PFFB (post-filter feedback loop). WiiM Ultra probably won't have an amplified version any time soon, but it could happen eventually. www.ecoustics.com/products/wiim-amp-pro/

      @@ecoustics people love the platform and the aesthetics, wiim has a loyal community. Some are seeking more power (250w+). If you guys made a class d unit inside the chassis of the ultra or even existing amp, people would totally match it to your streamers.
