Man did I luck out this weekend. I just picked up one of these for $700. It's a 94 with OEM 92 fairings (black and grey) 20k on the clock. Guy said it "didn't run" and at that price, I was happy to take it and sort it out. The only thing wrong with it was it was outta gas. Unbelievable.

Dream bike, I’m in love with the eyeball headlights and the analog dash. It reminds me of my Miata in those aspects. Modern day digital dashes are nice but something is beautiful about the classic gauges. Those headlights give it a cute look in my opinion

Trust me man they're no slower unless you've got two pros on them.
I've owned 6-7 other superbikes including 167rwhp 2002 gsxr 1000 with a yoshimura catalogue spec motor.
These will still try and kill you.
One of my favourite quotes to friends when they ask me why I've sold most my other bikes except my two sc28's.
" I love my bikes like I love my women. Loud , few previous owners, from the 90's and trying to kill me. "

They’re just fantastic. It was one of the most satisfying ownership experiences I’ve had. It’s difficult to articulate just how great these are. It’s much like owning a sports car of the 90s: responsive and powerful, but it does things smoothly. It just pushes along through the revs. Comfortable. And it has a suppleness and a lightness to it. I would love to have another someday. Great video, loved the 90s outro too lol.

    Very good Video.
But for a 60 year old rider ,they are not the best.
i come back from rides with nothing but aches & pains. But i still love this old girl.
I have a 92, with only 20 or so thousand miles on it, with it all being Standard apart from has you say from the rear shock.
But the best thing is, that i can take mine up into the Yorkshire dales for a steady run & get 60MPG, and thats with the occasional blast
    to get it cleared through.
    Keep up the good work.

Great to see some practical sport bike review again! Great review of such a gorgeous motorcycle! You are right about fairings and other bits and pieces! On my VFR400 NC30 UK Spec from 91’ it is really difficult to find genuine mirrors, license plate and side blinker brackets as all the genuine ABS fairings! When you do prices are just absurd! Also the stickers are almost impossible to find in case you want to re-spray the fairings! You can find decal replicas but not same font, size or colour most of the times! Besides, back then fairings didn’t have clear coat on top of decals, with exception of gas tanks. So yes, better a non runner but cosmetic complete and clean bike than the opposite!

You are right about the plastics becoming brittle with age. It is absolute pain on modern classics of this era.
On one Honda I have from this era I have replaced one particular panel three times in the past year because the fixing points disintegrate. While I am fortunate in that the panel is still available and can be bought 'new' from a Honda dealer the last one I bought was actually manufactured 23 years ago. You can see the production date on the back of the panel.

A very good review thank you. I had a 1995 Urban Tiger, which I used as a daily driver for 5 years in a UK city and it performed admirably. Lightweight, comfortable, very manoeuvrable in heavy traffic. The only small criticism I had was that the alternator had a smallish output in winter months when headlights were on (most of the time for safety) and the battery had a tendency to go flat without noticing. I added a voltmeter to keep an eye on the input. Otherwise, a fabulous machine.

      @nunyabusiness896 Před 3 lety

Dude, hell no. First of all, the last thing you want to do is bang up a classic bike on a rookie mistake. Second of all, this is a quick bike even by modern standards and has no electronic assists or ABS. Best case you'll nervously putt around for a year, worst case you'll give too much throttle/brake/etc. and destroy it and maybe yourself, too. If you really want to ride it, get some cheap Ninja 250 or CBR300 and when you can flog that around with ease, then start riding the CBR. Just keep in mind when you go from a beginner bike to the CBR that you can't just crank the throttle or slam the brakes, faster bikes have much more powerful everything and inputs need to be light and deliberate, hamfisted inputs will get you thrown off the bike before you know what happened.

5:56 People raving about 'radial' front master cylinders clearly haven't got a clue what they're talking about. There is no difference between them with respect to braking performance, the lever pivots about a fulcrum with a pushrod a short distance from that fulcrum to prof=vide a mechanical advantage. The only two things that matter are the pushrod mechanical advantage of the cylinder bore; guess what, they are bout variable no matter the type.

axial mounted calipers, no inverted forks, weird tire sizing lol. Power is pretty good for today... if you're on a 600
Might be important to mention that the reason you want to change coolant every 2 years is because it becomes acidic as it oxidizes and can corrode your coolant system... not because it "wears out" and doesn't work as well from use.

You don't have to rejet after switching to after market exhaust. I rejeted mine thinking the same thing and ended up going back to the original jets.

Depends on the exhaust. Technically, you should dyno tune it to determine the optimal jets, or at least get recommendations from someone who has dyno tested it. Some exhausts are similar to factory but are just louder, others have substantially different flow properties.
