- Join me on an unforgettable journey to Kinard, Kerry, where I delve into the heart of Ireland's rugged landscapes to capture the raw beauty of the wild Atlantic coast. In this captivating video, I take you behind the scenes of my latest photography adventure, showcasing the dramatic seascapes, towering cliffs, and crashing waves that define this breathtaking location.
From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by ever-changing weather conditions, from moody skies to clear horizons, presenting both challenges and opportunities for capturing stunning imagery. Armed with my trusty Sigma 150-600 lens, I ventured along the coastline, seeking out the perfect vantage points to frame the powerful waves and iconic sea stack of An Searrach.
Throughout the day, I share insights into my photography process, from composition techniques to adjusting shutter speeds to freeze the motion of the crashing waves. Witness the intensity of nature as I navigate the rocky shores, always mindful of the ocean's unpredictable power.
As the day unfolds, I adapt to the changing light and conditions, experimenting with vertical compositions to showcase the dynamic energy of the seascape. Despite the challenges, I'm rewarded with breathtaking images that capture the essence of Kinard's untamed beauty.
But the adventure doesn't end there. Stay tuned as I continue to explore the Dingle Peninsula, immersing myself in Ireland's stunning landscapes and sharing more of my photography journey in upcoming videos and blogs.

Loved this Darren. That thumbnail image is gorgeous. Love the dark tones of the images and the brooding music.
Thanks a million Jon! Delighted you enjoyed it
That sea staack is a great feature and the waves were awesome. Great images throughout. Thanks for sharing

Excellent job Darren.👌👌
Thanks a lot , really appreciate that
Smashing images! I do love a good telephoto shot of the sea!
It was so awesome to be able to pop the camera out the window of the van!!!
Thank you very much Pal! Reason 47 for why it’s great to have it 💪
Well done Darren can't wait for retirement when I can head off on a whim when the conditions suit. Thanks for sharing
It’s the way forward :-) :-)
Thank you very much Delighted you enjoyed it
Thanks Darren, makes me want to go back there again!!
Thank you very much John! It’s a great spot
Fantastic as always & enjoyable drive. 8 metre waves would have been good to watch from a safe space.
Nice to see big lens out & about😊
Thank you very much Ann! The Saturday was crazy for sure
Hi Darren, these long focal lengths work really fantastically for this kind of photography. I like how you got the details out, e.g. in your shot at ~14:04. Awesome storytelling of nature forces. I love it
Thank you very much my friend ! A fun adventure for sure
Thanks for watching Delighted you enjoyed it
Contrary to gotohave's comment I love to hear your setup and the reasons you use it, I have followed you for some time and think you are excellent at explaining everything. Please continue as you are the best.
Thank you very much
Delighted you enjoyed it
I’ll have to make my speeches even longer so :-)
Can't agree with you more kev4393
Great job Darren, some fab telephoto shots, very enjoyable, haven't been to Kinard for years, looks great in close up!
Thanks a lot Damien, Glad you enjoyed it. It had been a while for me also, but glad I went, Looking forward to seeing your Scotland Adventure continue
Great images Darren, currently saving up for a Sigma 150-600 for wildlife and an upcoming trip to Orkney in September. Hoping for some wild seas whilst there 🤞🌊
Thanks very much, That should be a great trip .. I wish you the best of luck
I Borrowed a 150-600 for the eclipse (I didn't wind up using it, it was a beast to wield) but I did take pictures of lighthouses, birds and such with it. The lens' reach is incredible
It’s a superb lens for sure ! Borrow it again 💪💪
Great shots Darren, I live on the East Coast of England which is pretty flat, things at the coast don't get interesting unless you cross the country and hit Cornwall or Devon, although the East Coast is spectacular for different reasons I guess, nice video mate.
Thank you very much ! I’m lucky to have this more or less on my doorstep
Thanks for watching Delighted you enjoyed it
So many quality shots from the same subject; a photographic Masterpiece!
Thanks a million Rick
Lovely shots of angry water.
Thank you very much
Some really spectacular wave captures, but for some reason I just don’t find this particular sea stack to be compositionally appealing. Maybe if the light were different. . .
Thank you very much Michael! Can’t win them all I guess 😂🫣
@@DarrenJSpoonley Well, *I* can’t, that’s for sure. 😝 And I hope my opinion didn’t come across as snide or overly critical (photographers can be the worst). If I didn’t like your work, I wouldn’t bother to comment at all.
@michaelhall2709 absolutely Michael! Never felt it anything other than it was intended 💪
Very informative and interesting. One bit of information about this video( never really seen many of your videos before but must have as I had already joined) I think your explaining a bit to much your setup for the shot as I’m hanging waiting to see the shots and then I get to see your fantastic shots. All in all very well done.
Thank you very much welcome aboard Thanks for watching
