How to fix "CPU Fan not detected" errors and warnings

- In this video I'm talking about what to do if you've built a PC but then you can't install Windows or you can't boot your machine because of a warning about the CPU fan speed not being detected.
This is often a simple fix luckily. If you've installed an all-in-one CPU cooler, then chances are you connected the pump head to the AIO pump header on the motherboard. This leaves the CPU Fan header empty, which some motherboards don't appreciate! So the solution is either:
1 - unplug the AIO pump cable and connect it to the CPU fan header instead
2 - head into your BIOS settings and set the CPU fan monitor to "ignore"
Either of these options will work and should solve your problem.

THIS was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I just built a new PC with this AiO and got that error message! Really silly and strange that MB's theese days can't understand when an AiO is connected to the pump header and then disable the need of something plugged into the CPU-fan...

I have a Lian Li ALC 360. The lights on the pump come on, but the fans do not nor does it recognize the CPU Fan or the Pump in the BIOS. It does however stay at about 37 degrees. No recognition of coolant fans at all. My only issue with this new build.

I put my input into AIO pump. My question Is it better to put it to AIO Pump instead of cpu fan!!????

Hi! Im having an issue where i plugged my aio onto the aio pump header and the fans onto the motherboards fan header, but the fans on both the pump and the ones connected underneath the radiator arent spinning at all. Even the rgb colors arent turning on even though its plugged into the rgb header as well
I'm having that issue saying i have a pump failure. It was plugged into my cpu fan header i've removed it while it was on by mistake and cant get it to go away now even tho its plugged into the cpu fan header now and i know the pump is working any ideas how to fix?

I have this happen with the Corsair h100i and every blue moon or so my motherboard doesnt detect it and give me cpu error. Turn of psu and reboot a few times and works lol what?

I don't know what to do anymore, I installed new fans to the AIO cooler and others too, none of them work I've tried it all different connections reinstalled cpu, PSU everything. Old fans work as if nothing is wrong but when I connect them they won't spin nothing no RGB, I'm honestly out of options at this point. It's 6 of them all the same model 4 120mm and 2 140mm. I don't know what to do anymore

My problem is that it'll detect the fans but they're stuck at one speed and they're not responding to bios or fan control. So I'm stuck. I'll connections are good. Even have my cpu some fresh goop since it's been a year.

Hi, need help please. I just bought Lian Li LCD 360 AiO (non Sl-inf), very good cooling in Cinebench R23, 37042 points in Intel stock limit on 13900K. The problem is that Z790 Hero's bios detects my aio fan speed, but in the Lian Li L-Conect3 app, it doesn't. The rpm reported by the app is 0 even though the fans are actually spinning. I reinstalled W11 64, drivers, app, bios change to ignore and back. Any suggestions? Tanks
Any advice for if the fan isn't showing in the bios at all. I replaced the fan in the end with thermal paste thinking it could be an issue with the fan but it's sadly not been the issue
Welp here is something that might work that helped me. Not sure what setting I hit, but I did something. Anyway to fix the problem for me. When in the bios and you see the cpu fan, it should show it kick on for a couple seconds than turn off. You just hit f10 when the fan shows its on. That is if you manage to see the fan kick on and off in the bios. (Witch I’m assuming you will see it if your fan isn’t the problem) If it’s not running at all than idk
i have an lian li galahad ii trinity aio, i connect the pump to aio pump connector and on the controller i have another connect wich i connect to cpu fan, but i still get this error, someone can help?
I put cpu fan on ignore but when I save and reset it resets and goes right back to bios, if it makes anything different I have a custom pc
God bless all your videos! Can I ask though, i have my aio fans plugged into CPU fan, and the aio pimp plugged into aio pump. So, if I follow u correctly, you’re saying to plug the aio pump into CPU fans instead. What do I do with the aio fans connector in this scenario?
If you're already plugged in like that then you shouldn't even be getting the error. It's usually because CPU fan isn't populated. Anyway the easiest solution is turning off the speed monitoring in the bios

Sounds like your CPU cooler isn't installed correctly. Check the connections, reseat it and check the thermal paste etc
I still have a problem when ignore CPU it goes to blue screen?
it's weird mine doesn't working it's just same , usually my fan make noises when playing game now it's gone and my game so slow
@TheProvokedPrawn would appreciate it please if you could gimme your opinion on this because I bought a custom built computer and it worked fine booted/restarted without any issues, but when I decided to flash the bios to the newest update I got that error you showed on screen and doing what you did fixed it also not to mention yes cpu_aio pump rpm speed shows up in bios but do you have any idea why that error would happen and I'm assuming it's not a bad sign?
Updating the bios probably reset the settings to default. You'll probably want to check that XMP is on and resizable bar too czcams.com/video/XHsDsa2ECBE/video.html

I'm having this error with my Lian Li Uni SL120 V1 fans connected to a Corsair H150i LCD AIO. I have the AIO Pump able plugged into my Motherboards (ASUS B650 E-E) AIO Pump header and then I also have the Lian Li controllers 4 pin PWM cable plugged into Motherboards CPU_FAN Header. I still get this error and don't know why as there is a PWM cable plugged in. Any idea why?
Maybe if you've not turned motherboard sync on in the L Connect software? I'd just set it to ignore tbh

I'm running an AMD 7900x with a 360mm corsair AIO, front mounted with 6 SL120 fans in an intake position. I have 3 SL120 fans on top as exhaust and 1 more SL120 on the back also as exhaust. My GPU is a 4080 and all of this is in a corsair 5000d airflow. For some reason my CPU is idle at ~85 degrees which is way too high for idle. Everything is secure and thermal paste was applied correctly. Other than my previous comment, any idea why this is being such a pain?

I have no idea what to do at this point.
I have a Lian Li ALC 360 Coolant System and a Gigabyte B650 X AX V2 Motherboard (note: the Lian Li pump cable only has a 3 pin socket that still will fit on the 4 pin motherboard header. I have the pump plugged into the system pump 4 pin on the motherboard. I have the other cable of the two plugged into the CPU Fan Header on the mother Board. Nothing is plugged into the CPU_Opt. The lights on the pump come on, but the fans do not move nor does it recognize/detect the CPU Fan or the Pump in the BIOS. Both says N/A. It does however stay at about 37 degrees. No recognition of coolant fans at all. My only issue with this new build.
Does your cooler also have a sata power cable that connects to your PSU?
No, the cooler has two cables. One kind of has a split off that has the RGB 3 pin connector. That one is really a 4 pin with one of the middle blocked out.
The two man cables are the 3 pin, which is the pump cable I suppose.
The other is the CPU Fan cable which is a 4 Pin.
I have the 4 Pin plugged into the CPU Fan Header
I have the 3 Pin cable plugged into the 4 pin Fan 3 System Pump Header.
Non of my Motherboard Headers are AIO. The Fan3 System Pump Header is at the very bottom of the MB where as the CPU_Fan and CPU_Opt is at the top right of the MB.

I only have one of two aio fans spinning and I get this message aswell, I did change in bios to ignore the warning but like I said there's only one fan spinning, is it broken?
You've probably connected them incorrectly

my cpu temp is averaging around 78°c, i have the same detection error, i switched the cable to the cpu fan, and it still shows up. my pc keeps randomly shutting off as well, could it be due to the error plus cpu temp? everything else runs just fine, i could install windows 11 no problem although i did get a system32 error, ive ever since reset my pc and left it alone. i own an rog strix b650e-f ryzen 7 series, and i own corsair h150i elite cappelix fans

Wait do switch from the aio to the cou fan on the motherboard and then go in and make the changes or just go in and make the changes and keep it hooked to the aio pump on mobo?
Well I tried it but it didn’t work. However I can only get into the bios to make these changes on my Hyte Y70 Infinity lcd lol. My normal monitor does not boot with everything so can’t go forward to install windows etc etc.
It's one or the other. Changing the cable is sometimes easier.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Ty for the reply. I tried it both ways and still didnt work. I did get to use my lcd screen though as I mentioned lol. That was different. I ended up sending it back and ordering another one. Hope that was the problem and not the mother board. It kept giving me the 99 error code. This was my first PC I have built in like 13 years. So stressful. I really hope this works. I really love my Hyte Y70 and that 9s what led me to build instead of getting a prebuilt.

I'm not saying you're wrong as this is precisely what the BIOS tells you to do, but I don't know when ignoring a problem has ever been the proper way of solving a problem lol. I just hope all is well afterwards.

Just remember if your using a corsair commander your going to get the boot message as no fans are connected to the motherboard.
The pump should still be.

Did you connect it to the fan hub. Make sure the cpu header is connected to the fan hub and the motherboard make sure the fanhub is connected to a usb 2.0 on ur motherboard
