i find it funny how some pagies are locked in a cage thats spread wide open, while theyre pieces of paper that could easily escape

I know this is from the makers from Banjo & Kazooie, but I didn't know they would feel/look/sound the same this much. I like it! Can't wait for the next part

i don't care what people say about this game... the fact that someone had a nostalgia feel to the banjo and kozooie games and made their own is worth the payment of a 21'st century version of it is fine to me and i'd buy the game if i had a ps4

@mayrana2 It maybe has something to do with the audience who bought it, maybe being very young who hadn't played in the era of banjo Kazooie, so to us who played banjo Kazooie would most likely see this as like a nostalgic tribute, however if you compare yooka laylee in this era with all cod and battlefield and rdr2 etc that is all in this era They would see this as a shite game, I don't know how I managed to type a long text explaining a simple perspective

It seems the only people complaining about the voices are the new generation of gamers who want everything to be perfect. No one complained about it in Kazooie or Tooie, so that's the only explanation.
Okami O'Donnell actually not it's not, older generations also thought those voices were annoying, it's not an older thing, it's a rare thing, and it was doable in banjo. Cause there wasn't text every damn minute, and it wasn't as loud and obnoxious
First of all time when something was made is relevant. Nowadays some stuff what were accepted in the past simply aren't anymore. But as far I recall people didn't like that aspect of Banjo Kazui from the beginning.

My advice is to roll through the first three hoops, let go of the roll button when you reach the flat green platform, adjust the camera, then roll forward to catch the last two hoops. If you don't get out of the roll, you'll just roll all over the place and won't be able to reach those aggravating final two hoops.
This is for us older gamers ....i looove this game. No health regen, auto lock camera, grunty voices...brings back memories of banjo

bean guru lmao same. I still have my 64 and both BK & BT, the voices just took me back to my childhood. The only complaints I really have is the lack of guidance due to how huge the levels are, I wish there were more quills placed in the game like notes were so I know where I need to go.
Also lack of save and quit option. Relying on automatic saving is a bit of a hassle when it only activates when you get Pagies

They aren't annoying in the Banjo games, They are very annoying in this one.
I'm not sure if "cause it was that back then" is relevant argument. Back then they cut costs and storage space. Now it is a pointless gimmick. And people are irritated for a reason.
No probably they just grew up its like watching old cartoons again when your older and realising why did i enjoy this when i was a kid it wasnt about who was in game there werent as much games like this openworld so its rareity a gem a treasure enjoy its atmosphere its probably one of the best games featuring a duo if every pig was perfect we wouldnt have bacon.

The one thing putting me off this game is the EHHHAHHHOOOH EHHH AHH EHHHH WAAHHHH HAAAAA speech

oh my GOOOOOOOOD YEEEESSSSSSSSS. Grant Kirkhope did beautifully in composing the music!!! if you listen you can hear parts of the opening world theme, mumbo's mountain, and gruntilda's theme (and many other pieces ) from Banjo kazooie!! you can also see #64 appear quite a few times in reference to the Banjo kazooie game for the N64! I love how the stay true to the original in terms of genre , gameplay/game mechanics, and quirky "voice acting" but keep the visuals and camera controls up to date
So, it wasn';t until recently that I found out to get the aiming sight press L3, cuz THAT'S not obvious... I usually forget that that's even a button.

Even if this game is good or bad (as long as the game is working and fun to play). We still need to support Playtonic so that maybe 'just maybe' they might earn enough money to buy Banjo and Conker back from Microsoft. I plan to get the SWITCH version. ;D
Microsoft/Rare might even just sell them the character rights' to Playtonic anyway because they might not care enough to keep them and might sell for a reasonable amount for a startup company to afford. Seems like all Microsoft/Rare care about now is Kinect. Typical corporate bureaucracy at its finest: You think short term and then don't do much long term to care, like a spoiled rich kid with too much stuff.
They want to make more of those ip's but are just understaffed so if you support rare than we might get a banjo or conker game made by more of the original group than Playtonics
Also rare is a subsidiary of Microsoft so they are owned by them but still separate and rare never made a game that uses the Kinect in any way and Microsoft still makes the vast majority of their games non-kinect (Kinect not needed but potentially optional) also the main use for Kinect since release is the built in mike and not using a controller for small stuff like turning on CZcams

I don't personally find the voices to be annoying, as I find them to be exactly the same as Banjo kazooie. But for anyone that do hate them, a patch will be released in the upcoming weeks to allow you to mute them. Also they are making changes to the camera, adding in the ability to skip cutscenes and dialouges.

If you've played and loves the old Banjo games then there's no reason you should try this one.
Otherwise, it's an ok game. At least 3/5 where most games, even AAA, are 4/5.

In Banjo-Kazooie and all other games in the series the voice bits used are an actual sentence but cut up and mixed such as "eekum oukum" and other voice clips from Mumbo-Jumbo being made from "come and have a go, if you think you're tough enough" with the only exception in the ip's history being "oomanaka" from Mumbo-Jumbo which is "ooh my knackers" put in as an inside joke for rareware (now rare LTD.) Because Mumbo-Jumbo's voice actor hurt his balls and yelled "ooh my knackers" and everyone including the voice actor found it funny enough to put in the game.
However in Yooka-Laylee the voices are 2-4 sound effects used multiple times per textbox when there is a lot of textboxes. I personally don't find them annoying however it is perfectly reasonable to get annoyed by them but not the voices in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise.

Daniel6254 There's too much dialog compared to Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie by far. It's also almlst like it's every syllable rather than word. To me, Laylee's voice is okay, but I was alittle unsettled at first since he sounded all whimpery and out of breath. Yuka's voice sounds super generic though, and almost like that jiggy god or whatever in Tooie since its all soft and almost echoey. I hate it...

If your still deciding then I'd say get it, I'm in love with this game and I got it because it reminds me of games from the 90's and it's a nice change from the first person shooters they game is challenging with lots to do and it's just a fun little game to play and feels rewarding
1) I think I'm the only gamer in the world that doesn't play first-person shooter games lol
2) I'm a completionist, so I feel like this game will keep me going for a while (until they hopefully release a Sly game on the Switch).
