- It's a Goldtop day, 1958 to be specific - this is a top notch 'dark back' guitar with a fantastic pair of double-black PAF pickups, and its lightweight as well at 8lbs 4oz! The body has expected wear for it's age, and has a great worn in feel without any real issues. The tuners had been replaced at one point but the originals are back on and work great. Today we've got Aaron Hiebert taking the steering wheel with the excellent 1996 Matchless Chieftain amp we've been featuring this week!

The guy playing the guitar, just plain rips! Well done.
After watching your videos I’m convinced these matchless amps are the best I’ve ever heard 🙌
God dam it. I could listen to Aaron play these amazing guitars all day.
Beautiful guitar and fantastic amp!
That "burst" has it's own unique tone going on. But well within the flavor of the period. Great player, guitar and amp. It is so amazing to see these iconic instruments played by someone with so much talent. It really shows off just how special these old gems were and are and why they command the big buck.
Agreed
Great vid. I've been viewing these since the 'lock down' and seen many guitars I dug.
This is the best.
One of my dream guitars. Great playing
It sounds amazing. Beautifully played.
Lol I recently met a guy who had a 1958 goldtop in a guitar workshop. he let me play it a little, was awesome...
Those PAFs sound just beautiful!
Nice!
Somebody please buy that beautiful amp already!
if someone buys it then we don't get any more videos of this guy shredding through it
I really wish someone didn’t........
Ok now we’re talking... this playing is appreciated
If you throw in a re-fret, and give me 120 years to pay it off, it's a deal! LOL
Right but this 58 sounds amazing but us po folks will never have one but we can get pretty close with new guitars....
Jesus that sounds good
Love your videos of les Paul's there a thing of beauty I'm only a lottery win away from owning one 😢😢😢
Pssst buddy!Get one of the 2020 Epiphone standard gold tops like I did and with a new set of strings and a set up it's lookin', playin' and soundin' just as good as this one!
Nice combo
I'd never be able to afford this guitar but the video absolutely sold me on the amp.
Of all the gear I owned, I miss my Matchless HC30 the most. Such great amps.
Willies American Guitars has one. czcams.com/video/bkmrb9Nk0-M/video.html
I miss my Lightning too!
Sounds a little hotter than most 50s LPs I guess that's the Matchless Super sweet guitar
Made it sound great
Nice play! Sounds Killer! The beast doesn't choose any amps. Wanna try it.
I know it's high, but that isn't a bad price for a 58 with PAFs.
I could have swore i saw his hair stand on edge when he lifted up the case and peered in at that les paul.
A 58 goldtop? Was it made at midnight or just that rare?
04:50 is that a piece of a song or just something?
Ain't no poor man gettin their hands on that thing
The only difference betweenn a 58 goldtop and burst is the finish so why would it not stack up to a burst
Holy shit boy's she sing's and scream's......
Gold top Epi through a Bugera V22
I am a poor man.
How much?
Those pafs are killer and whats poor considered in Seattle's pioneer square? so what are we talkin 10,000 50,000 I'll give you $13,000 for it
a cheap one today...
did you get my email about the fake PAF's on ebay i want you to look at them i would hate for some to get burned
So easy to fake I got burned on some 20 years ago but only1150. But still a lot of money
You don't need paf's Gibson's custom bucker's or get some throbak's
I don’t think you can call these guitars a poor man’s anything nowadays lol
better to hear it in original year bassman, or train wreck ,dumble. then we would hear it hum
I don't know how far you guys are from the knuckleheads there in Seattle, but stay safe. Authorities will be taking the city back shortly.
Go away.
@@keseysvenisonchili You go away fruit loop.
Are you referring to Chase ivania? Knuckleheads that's an understatement of the year. Oh wasn't Chase a 1980s so so didn't make it rock group?
How come it's so dark in your shop? Can hardly see the guitars for the darkness! Or are you in Chase ivania? If so hope they don't steal your shop I'll hold you for ransom I know it has nothing to do was mr. Floyd whose life was taken from his loved ones so early in his life.
No they won't - they only do that to ranchers in Oregon.
@ 3.11 You can see how old the strings are! Are these period correct Or are they black plain strings? Give your viewers or potential buyers due respect and restring the guitar you are painfully over selling..........
This amp sounds like crap. Slash should that guitar, by the way.
"this guy....this guy....this guy"....blah, blah, blah. Well, I guess "this guy" isn't as bad as the relentless "she, her, she, her...." What ever happened to "it"???
