- Let's get this started! Today, for the first classic Gibson from the vault, we have an incredible 1960 Les Paul Standard - with double white PAFs to top it off! This one is a very early 1960, essentially a '59 in spec, with only a few of the plastic bits having been changed out over the years. We've got Jay on camera today to give you guys all the details on this beauty, before handing it off to Aaron Hiebert for the demo through the excellent Matchless King Cobra we picked out for the series!

Music: The Hollers "Zeb" (Instrumental)
I feel like Aaron is getting better and better. What a smoking demo
Ya he’s growing some balls, I’m sure the ‘60 burst helps 😉
The playing is next-level good !!
But the tone of that Les Paul and the Matchless is beyond incredible. Starting at the beginning, first few seconds,..That guitar tone is better than anything on the planet,..which shifted on its axis right after that.
Not Bonamassas, it was Brian Ray's (with Paul McCartney). He's flipping it very quickly after purchasing it from the guy I, know in Copenhagen, who's mentioned in the video.
This is a great idea to share these great instruments with your followers, I for one appreciate it.
What a sweet old Les Paul! This thing screams! Love it! You can’t beat the sound of an old PAF!
This is by far the best sounding Burst you've demo'd. Wow.
What joy! To behold guitars & amps that I will never be able to afford!
This video shows our true American Heritage! What a fantastic Guitar and Amp. To me it does not get much better than this. Period. Thank You people for lifting my Spirit today.
I am so SOOOOOO ready to follow this vault series of videos & attempt to talk ya'll out of a few .. when I win the lottery
what a monster of a guitar. such beautiful production in these vids too.
That sounds amazing!
Another great demo- thanks!
Thanks for sharing these.
Cheers
Sounds just like the new JC era (post 2019) Gibson 50s & 60s Standards. Inflation loves nostalgia.
Although I've played Matchless amps for decades and have three currently , they're quite bright , designed for Strat-type pickups and don't give a Burst it's correct tone . A good Fender Tweed or a Marshall JTM gives my Burst it's best tone . Your video quality is first rate and few put the effort into the correct lighting to show case vintage items to their best . Well done !
Differ on opinion but that match less sounds like my jcm with the mids down and presence up with bass up.
Man, correct is in the ear of the beholder, and that sounded sick
Wow. Just incredible.
What a beastly pair and player.
oh man the bridge paf pole screws had never been tweaked!factory 45° setup
good demo
DAMN !
Fantastic! If today wasn't tax day, I would take that King Cobra.
Everyone talking about low wind being the secret to PAF tone. Listen to how hot that bridge is. Probably 9k
Applause!!!!!!
It's got a nice scream to it.
Whoa. Felt some new hair sprout on the ol’ plums at 7:40
RTags77 Yep. Very Early Adam Jones inspired.
FUUUCK!! THAT SOUNDED AWESOME!! 👍👍👍👍
HOT DANG!!! My foot is still tapping.
Didn't Slash put out a video on this guitar? I think he said it was the very first 1960 burst Les Paul?
nice
7:24there goes my HERO... watch him play this Burst
because the first guy obviously can't play at all...never seen him play ever, pretty pathetic
Hm, has the same cockeyed peghead as my ES-125, which is, as I understand it, one of the ways you can tell it's genuine.
Double whites too. Yeah that is a very nice guitar.
Guy in LA we all love? Hmmm. The 59 hoarder? 😂
Got to be Joe Bonnamassa.
I don’t like him. He’s a bouffon.
If it came from Joe, they would say it outright (usually do at least), I wonder what other collection it could have come from?
Not Bonamassas, it was Brian Ray's (with Paul McCartney). He's flipping it very quickly after purchasing it from the guy I, know in Copenhagen, who's mentioned in the video.
Matchless: being without matches and having to ask someone (usually a stranger) for a light.
How much??
Cool guitar ! Only.. $320,000.00. Im lottering next saturday
Like “Yeah Man”! Wow “Man”! Oh “Man”
“Man” !
Good God I need this amplifier. Nice 60 burst but totally non attainable for me.
I may be a believer in uncovered pafs now
I know they sound better and brighter but I am not going to unsolder the covers to take them off so, whatever.
There’s the hairsplitting 😆
I've seen this guitar before somewhere... Anyone wanna help me out here?
In your dreams
Must be a regional thing, I never heard anyone call the pickups white. Most everyone I know calls them creams. I'm from the Motor City. It's a beautiful guitar however you describe it.
wow - just like an fat old LP *should* sound !! v. nice :-)
Put it through a Marshall !
400,000$
I know those chevrons. the claw
fine playing again..this one sounds more "open" and nasty than the 59
Yup the 1960 guitars mostly had alnico V magnets. I've listened to enough late 50s Gibsons to notice that they got more aggressive year by year as Gibson changed magnets. Early humbucker guitars are more balanced and less in your face, the 59s are full bodied but brighter than earlier guitars, and the 60s are balls to the wall scooped out rock machines with screaming high end.
that man can play a bit
So effectively a ‘59 with a 0 in the serial number....
There is no way anyone can look at a guitar and judge by eye that there is enough fret material to allow another fret levelling?
Yeah there is lol. I have two guitars I can tell don't have enough left for a level and crown job. They're both from the early 80s and have original frets and a lot of play hours, I couldn't guess how many hundreds of each guitar. Lots of wear. That's how you know it's a good one
Joe B is off loading gear again.
Great video! But the only thing i would change, is the guy who plays
nah, I'd rather buy a house...
@@Dagger_323 so? buy another

Crying...
why spend oodles of cash for this when you can spend far less for an Orville, that is just a good quality..and long tenon neck joint for killer sustain
I don't care.
Why is it every single demo is Pentatonic scale whenever you get so called "experts" playing.
60 less Paul's are CRAPPY 59 was the best ever made. no guitar is worth more then seven hundred dollars. :) don't get took.
That amp sounds like shit the way its set , like a previous post , its thin
