- On Monday we took a quick daytrip to Las Vegas to pick up an incredible 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard 'Burst', brought it back to the shop, and the next day had our dear friend Aaron Hiebert run it through its paces for you all! Things are starting to ramp back up after the holiday season, so more guitar adventures are coming your way soon!
Finally, I love clean tones from a burst instead of the over used distorted tones. What an amazing player and those harmonics on that burst sing
Damn right. Some of these dealers will take a vintage Les Paul that has the standard recipe 10,000 winds PAF's in them, which gives you 7.3K range PAF's that are just too harsh in bridge especially, so to cover that up they'll use a modern amp with gain channels and master volume or even PEDALS to make you think it sounds great, when ones like that don't sound like that ;-) Much of my older demo videos with vintage PAF's were done with a '73 blackfaced Fender Vibrolux, so you can actually hear everything those pickups do, instead of being masked.
I was just about to type this.... so sick of everybody playing em distorted I wanna hear THE GUITAR I always love when they're played clean... but it's harder to play clean you can't hide behind anything
I am SO glad to get to hear Aaron speak and have some input. He’s such a great player. That guitar is to die for as well…
Truth. Was absolutely spellbound by his playing, what a talent. Thank you Aaron!
In Total agreement with you there. The Tone out of that Beauty was amazing and he knew just how to get the best from it.
Aaron Heibert what a player! 🎸🎸🤘👍👍👍! Great job ECG crew!
Always a treat when we get to see Aaron
omg…this middle position…one of the best - if not the best - bursts on this channel
These are the Stratavarios of guitars...there is just something in the DNA of these beautiful instruments that is unparalleled....🎸🎸🎸
Its mainly due to aging of everything as well as the 62 year old glue that’s like glass now
Stradivarius.
Oh, please. Stop mythologizing these guitars. Yes, some of them sound amazing, but the level of craftsmanship ranges from good to downright sloppy sometimes. Some, like the neck pickup on this one, don’t even have the strings centred over the pole pieces. PAFs are famous for not having consistent numbers of winds between different examples. The finishes are famous for fading in all kinds of odd ways. On and on. Yes, they are beautiful guitars, but the craftsmanship is not comparable to Stradivarius violins.
Love this. Bring it on home baby!!! ❤️🔥❤️
Great to hear Aaron speak and give his perspective. He is a lovely player - more please!
Wow, great playing and the Allman Brothers sound too !!!, Clyde from Houston
really cool!!!!!!!!! thanks .....these old guitars are so great and you guys really do it right!!!!!!!
Very nice guitar, #aaronhiebert does it justice! Keep them coming!
Wow. My favorite burst I’ve heard along with Tom Bukovac’s.
Your great playing really reflects how fun it must be.
Thanks for playing this without all the overdrive most players seem to do. Beautiful instrument & playing.
Incredible and Aaron is killing it!
Fun journey! Great explanation Aaron and of course stellar playing. You always demonstrate all the glorious tones of each guitar you pick up. Thanks from always running through clean to dirty. ✌️❤️
Awesome to hear Aaron talk a bit!
Another fantastic video and an absolutely KILLER guitar! Love this channel!
Man that 60' Burst sounds amazing. Might be the best 60' burst I ever EVER heard !AMAZING !!
Beautiful guitar! Great mini doco!
What an amazing player, man... And that subtle nod to "last train home" was a real treat... Keep it up, Aaron!
Simply Beautiful!!!
Lovely Video. Travel, People, Fantastic Guitar and Wonderful Player. 😎
Win!
Azzzzaaaaaa! Great to see and hear you sir!
👍🇦🇺
Wow! What a beautiful guitar! Sounds incredible! Awesome playing!! Thanks
Amazing instrument, and a great demo. So good to hear a terrific player playing a guitar like this clean. And then, what awesome driven tone! Droolworthy.
That is a great sounding lp
Glorious, just glorious....
.....I agree,,,I have not played a1960...but my good friend,10 miles away,has a 1969,natural dark finish Les Paul,,that is the best we have ALL played!!.....it's a bell....like hearing this one,,,it is miles above the rest,,,,,....that vid,here!...........tnx,pat...land o' lakes,wi.
Mine is a reissue 1960 Tobacco Joe, it plays like a dream........great video
That is a good one.
Great demo!!
Great video once again, gents!
Sweet tone, excellent playing! 😎
I love a a well worn early 70's Les Paul Deluxe. If you are a strat guy the mini humbuckers are a cool option.
Beautiful playing Aaron
Would love to see more of Aaron on the mic. A video of him going through and playing all his strats would be great 👍🏼
Glorious!
Been waiting for this vid to drop
Magic.
Sweet tone
First time I have heard Aaron talk . Cool
Emerald City Guitars needs to find a way to make that happen for Aaron! Maybe loan it for an extremely long extended period of time or something. Find a way to work with a bank for the money in some way. Idk, u just think it would be awesome for him to get his hands on a burst to have. Lol Aaron is the best!!
One song?!!!! More!
Thanks for your wonderful videos. Room Miking in your videos is incredibile. What mics do you use?
Put some locking tuners on it, bareknuckle pickups, strap locks, Callaham ABR-1 and stop bar, graph tech nut……
I’m just kidding 🤣🤷🏽♂️🤪
ECG was kind enough to take a burst out of their glass case and let me play a few phrases. Very cool of them.
Would love to see what the pots etc look like in this one.
They actually look amazing for a 64 y.o. guitar. Solder joints solid and all the pot codes correct. Black Sprague caps look absolutely perfect.
Good for you
Yeah, babe! Hits the spot! I want that bite and tone!
In the same way people buy Stradavarius' for great players to use, give Aaron access to a burst!
I feel for players like Aaron. They’ve gotten a taste of the Burst and now nothing else will do when it comes to LPs. I primarily play Gibson Les Pauls and will NEVER touch one… unless I win the lottery. 😏
If this man doesn’t own a Les Paul… after this vid Gibson should send him a nice R9 or R0 burst.
I played a 60 burst once. It was a weird feeling holding one object in my hand that's worth more than my house.
Guarantee those flight weren’t cancelled for weather.
Cool. What amp? Deluxe reverb?
SU-WEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
I would part with limbs for that LP.
I've played a few. 59 and 60 models, to me the 60 era ones have a better crunch bite on the high end,
Not bad!
...for a Les Paul ; )
Why are you not showing the bass side of the neck binding any more .we recall one had no dots above the twelfth fret a refin or poorly rebound ??
Does this suffer from a neck angle issue? Or what is the reason the pickups are that close to the strings? The bridge pickup looks like you can stick a pick between it and the strings and it wont fall out.
Damn I thought I was gonna go to Vegas to win a burst. Huh well your player sounds like me Starts off with I play strats but..
$289 with case.Looks like the Beano Burst.
What amp was this played through? Unbelievable tone
I am muscle-brain.
I saw a Murphy Heavy ageing and it looked like shit to me, lightly aged is fine, a reissue is fine, I even have an
07 cherry burst that hits the tones and feel with its weight reduced, but hes right about subtleties are there.
Damn, that’s nice!
That’s an incredible guitar but it seems to have a certain sadness somehow. Some guitars have a real personality - I’d like to know it’s history
What's the name of the background music
What’s that first intro song ?
and the weight is ?
So how much will Bonamassa buy it for?
350k to 500k Then after JB tours with it, it will be worth a Million.
Is this the equivalent to “first” on this channel?
@@screamingstrings76 Almost.
Bonamassa needs an Epiphone. For that pentaronic practice might be just right
@@paulholod9902 No chinese products please. At any savings.
when you re-adjust your mask every 5 sec *relatable*
What am is that? @ 2:37
Carr Mercury V
There's a cruel irony to the fact that you've probably handled more bursts than most people alive, and yet you can't play them the way you'd want to cause you're a lefty...
Aaron has become one of my favourite players, really all natural. He has a rude playing style.
demo kind of sucked but ok not being rude a little short
Bullshit. My brand-new china guitar can do that. Prove me wrong.
Ooh 😮 I’m calling the China guitar critic
Lol
You won’t get ”that” sound, you might do cool things but that’s crazy stuff
I'm crying now:((((((((((((((
