  • Today we have a massive combo for you - a 1959 Burst and a Dumble Overdrive Special! The Les Paul is all original, has a great history and is one fantastic instrument - great sound, excellent playability, and a beautiful look all around. The Overdrive Special we're using today has been modified from a combo to a head and dual cabinet setup, which was tastefully done and looks awesome! We've got Trevor here to tell you all about these two before Aaron Hiebert plugs them in tears it up!
    For more information on the guitar or amp, please give us a call as these are not on our website yet!

    No Klon in the chain to complete the trifecta of unattainability?

    • @TCMx3
      @TCMx3 Před 3 lety +3

      Klons, in the old box, are still kind of being built and released. Also there are WAY more Klons than Dumbles, though why Dumbles command such prices is beyond me. Theyre not that rare and most of them only sound OK. 10 grand will ply even the best vintage super lead/bass out of a collector's hands and unlike guitars modern amp makers simply make better sounding products :shrug:

    • @brandonkruse6412
      @brandonkruse6412 Před 3 lety +2

      @@TCMx3
      All models of the Klon are out of production, this includes the KTR and “old box” Centaur. That’s why the originals are reaching unrealistic prices. For a guitar pedal, they are pretty rare.

    • @TCMx3
      @TCMx3 Před 3 lety

      @@brandonkruse6412 sure they are. the big box centaur has been "out of production" for ages except for all the legitimate, verifiable new ones that kept popping up on ebay for years. either way it doesnt matter, there are more of them out there than the price demands.
      but thanks for the history lesson, whether you it's correct or not.

    • @brandonkruse6412
      @brandonkruse6412 Před 3 lety

      @@TCMx3
      The Centaur hasn’t been in production for years and the reason why more keep popping up is because the market demand brought them out. We know the exact amount made, it’s less than 9,000 plus the builder has already said he’s not taking new orders on them.
      If anything, we may see more batches of KTRs but they are made so few at a time. There’s obviously a large demand for this circuit for a reason, it’s the best overdrive out there.
      If there was more Centaurs on the market than the price demanded, the price wouldn’t be increasing every few months.

    • @TCMx3
      @TCMx3 Před 3 lety

      @@brandonkruse6412 you are very sure of yourself for someone who is unfamiliar with the basic facts. A small number of new centaurs in the original enclosure have been being made for years and released through a friend of Finnegans. If you want to buy into the market hype more power to you.
      There's always a "reason" why doesnt mean it makes sense in the long run. People are paying huge money for 70s Fenders now too despite the fact that there are a bazillion of them and they werent very good, too, and they tow the same line.
      This market crashed HARD in 2008 when the last set of optimistic folks got caught with a bunch of stuff that didnt have the fundamentals behind it (while good Fenders, Les Pauls and Marshalls held strong).

    Wow, a lot of negative comments. I have actually been dying to hear if these amps could play hard rock or metal, and for the most part every video has them playing jazz fusion lite or some tame and tidy blues, it's actually left me screaming turn that overdrive knob all the way up! It is called an Overdrive Special after all. I don't believe Howard Dumble built his amps to be limited to blues or jazz.

    Just my opinion, amplifiers are one thing where modern technology is miles ahead of most vintage examples. Dumble’s reputation was made in the 70s and 80s by a handful of players and the price is driven by their scarcity. That Les Paul would sound better through any number of off the shelf, production line amplifiers made today.

Not through a “Dumble” but a 633, modern high-end British amp. My “Dumbles” sound even sweeter.
