Drug driving is the same as drunk driving. Keep your car in park if you’re high on anything. What an incredibly selfish thing to do could’ve been a mother walking her kids down the street anything could’ve happened.
Honestly driving under drugs is worse. Drugs affect a person in many different ways.
My state legalized weed last year. Every parking lot now, all you smell is weed from people hotboxing. They think they're fine to drive because "it's only weed" but they're not.
Funny you mentioned that, a drunk mother k/o herself and kids in an SUV on this same stretch a few years ago too. It had a whole rolo down Cleveland.
@@bwofficial1776 It was EXACTLY this way years ago when Washington legalized it; suddenly every single parking lot especially around the high schools was full of hotboxing cars, and every other day you'd see an Escalade or Camaro get pulled over because they were DRIVING while hotboxing and probably could barely see the road out the windshield. It's obviously calmed down now as the 'novelty' wore off but it was very bad for a good year at least.

Nearly 4 years ago this was me. I rear ended a family of 4 on vacation. Of course I was uninsured too. Luckily it wasn’t a serious accident. No one was injured and both cars were able to drive away. (I had a valid insurance card on me but it wasn’t paid up so that was found out later on.) Even though I’m about to have 4 years next week I only just got my license reinstated a couple months ago. Finally paid all my restitution from the accident and have made things right. I hope this man is able to do the same. Opiate addiction is so hard to kick. But there is meaningful life after if he (or anyone else stuck) can find and hold onto recovery. Methadone is the only thing that worked for me. And I’m so glad it did.

Loss of license, 6 month rehab center, without early release. And 1 year of weekly reporting to a P.O. ,ankle monitoring and random drug screening. Where P.O. can show up to screen you any time.
Probation officers dont "show up and drug test you" for random drug testing. They give probationers a number and/or color, and they have to call a phone number daily to see if their number/color was the one picked for the day. If its their number/color, then they show up at a place that does drug testing for the courts. But yes, i hope they have some strict consequences that will help motivate them and give them incentive to stay clean and sober.

I use to have an opioid addiction years ago and I OD few time so I'm lucky to be still here on this planet to tell my story and let me tell you it very hard to get rid of that addiction. but why driving and put others in danger, I really hope he gets the help he desperately needs... Same here,since 1990 I've did mostly pills but a few bags of H a couple times. Never shot up either,what stopped me is expense & I didn't get hi anymore. Plus once fent came on the scene that was it for me. I accidentally got fent one time & it was too much for me plus I want to live. Congrats...

Drugs is a big problem all over the US. Near me on Route 23 in Wayne NJ a driver high on Heroin passed out and crashed into a gas station and killed a Father & Son parked at the pumps and also the Gas station Attendant. He survived , Route 23 is called the Heroin Highway because that is the route to go to Patterson NJ to get the drugs.

I work in a shop and we had a lady hit a retired cop’s vehicle with her brand new SUV and she had to pay about $23,000 out of pocket because insurance wouldn’t cover it thankfully

I knew immediately the guy w/body cam wasn't you, he was not 1 I'd want to interact w/the public. Some folks just aren't able to communicate with or to the general public. And they nearly always Will have a job that interacts with the public alot, yet practice doesn't make perfect in these cases. Idk if it was his tone or just they way he responded to the scene. No hurry to save a life, scan & assess the scene,or provide duty of care even to drunks, drug addicts, etc Sorry but that's the way he made me feel, he just isn't you. You interact with the public so well.

I appreciate that interaction where the medical responder and cop both have an understanding that the confession of drug use would be handled only once the cop left. That’s an example of systems operating properly.

Even when the driver refuses to submit to sobriety tests can’t the police make it mandatory for a blood draw when Narcan brought this person around with a positive result ? If it weren’t for the paramedics aid this guy might have been a DOA ……hope they throw the book at him, first offense or not !
He was charged, but there's no mandatory test unless they have recent prior convictions, or if they cause a serious injury.

This could have been very tragic.
The 911 operator had a tough job to do. The caller kept saying the car "flipped around" and that almost implies the car literally flipped or rolled over.
So that's what was given to the units.
The calltaker may not have had time to ask "did the car actually roll over, or do you just mean the car turned around backwards"
Even though as we can see via surveillance, neither of those things happened at all.
They're such a menace to society.
I hate how literal people have gotten in understanding. The reporting caller said the car flipped around after hitting the 2 poles. This cop coming up reports " there is no sign of a flipped car". I notice it on the internet too, words only have one meaning, so communication gets missed. Th reporter would have to had to say the car spun around, for the nessage to get through old literal thinker. Sigh.

Saw this happen near Beverly Hills once with a young woman driving a Rolls Royce.
Except the traffic was heavy. So she ended up tapping numerous cars at low speed.

He totalled my car.
But the really bad thing was that a disc in my neck blew out.
I have had 3 surgeries, and now i have a titanium plate in my neck.
Now, i need a multi level fusion in my lumbar spine.

Wow ended up right in the Columbus Police Sub Station on Cleveland just south of 11th!! Right down Cleveland Ave from me...well about 3 miles still but DAMN! Drugs and driving are a bad combo just like drinking and driving ,,,,,both of them are STUPID!! Come on people if you want to ruin your life with drugs or get plastered with booze....STAY HOME AND DONT PUT OTHERS AT RISK OF DEATH ALONG WITH YOUR BAD IDEAS! You may not know it but some of us love our selves and our families so dont get high and drive.....PERIOD!!! Its real easy choice!!

The Cota Stop at Oakland Park and Cleveland going south to Downtown just had all its glass shot out! Been a shell without glass for a month or so but then again it is Linden so there are little wanna be gangsta's who dont want a nice area!! Thats why CVS is not closed right there except the pharmacy is open still. Kroger left along with others its pretty sad the only place near to get groceries now is Save A Lot (only they save on the quality and choices cause their brand only) or the IGA on Oakland Park and McGuffey but that is high priced crapola to!! lol Sorry I went on a tangent there totally shitting on my own hood!! lol

He was lucky that he didn't kill anyone or himself. If the ambulance didn't get there fast it could have been too late for him.. I know what heroin or fentanyl does to your life I was in a bad motorcycle accident and needed to have one surgery heal before I the next one and was on painkillers the whole time at the time they didn't have the warnings of how addictive they were and after I couldn't get anymore painkillers I went to heroin it was cheaper and easier to get worst 5 years of my life I've been clean for 12 years now. I tell people who don't know what it does I WOULDN'T WISH THIS LIFE ON MY WORST ENEMY ... It's very easy to get addicted but very hard to get clean now they finally got the warnings and dangers of what they do. I hope he gets help and can stay clean it's tough but not impossible. It's a horrible way to live

On top of his criminal charges, there's the civil. He hit a white SUV and several fairly expensive street lamps. There's also the restaurant that will most definitely sue for repairs. Sometimes the civil costs are worse than the criminal costs. His insurance premiums are going to skyrocket, lol 😉
