Bryn ... you are honestly the most informative ferret momma on youtube I cant wait for your videos to upload. I'm 30 and just got my first two fuzzbuts. I just wanted to thank you!
Oh by far
Fuzz butts lol
For what it's worth, I have a trick that seems to help even for transitioning a ferret from their imprinted kibble to a better one. Simply grind up some of the old kibble and dust it over the new food for a time to give it a familiar scent and taste.
Before even trying to transition to raw I tried just putting some chicken trim in their cage and both of them devoured it lol been on raw ever since
Originally I was going to feed kibble but I found your videos just a couple weeks before I got my ferret and managed to flip it around. Now I have 2 ferrets doing very well on frankenprey, thank you :)
Eviolus - I wish I would have found her before I bought my to babies ! They are very sweet and playful but they are Marshall Babies and are on dry Marshall and Dwsong ! Having hard time with getting them to even try anything els 🙁
JoLotto1 She suggests you sprinkle some kibble on top of the raw meat to encourage them to eat
@@JoLotto1No, one or the other
Chris Hockenberry try to slowly incorporate it into there kibble
Where do you buy your meat
Okay, I am wondering a few things:
1: How much grinds do we feed them?
2: How much bones?
3: Should I still add egg yolk and salmon oil?
4: Where would I find it? Grocery store, Online, ect.
5: If there should be atleast red meat, should I get multiple grinds? If so, what portions?
Note: I am thinking I just mix lets say chicken grinds with meat grinds?
Thank you for your time! :)
The the ridito is 80/10/10 80% meat 10% bone meat 10% organs if u add egg only yoak or mix well you can find the meat online or grocery store but they might not have important meat like gears and other organs and have 2 pink or soft meat I don't the name and 1 type of red meat
Hello! New ferret owner bere staring tomorrow 😄 I was curious as to where do you find the complete grinds or grinds in general? Could you find this at walmart in their deli section or other grocery stores like that?
@@yoursxtruly_x there are websites that sell grinds !! www.rawfeedingmiami.com/ is one. i'm not sure if you can find them in walmart, i haven't been there in a while
Yea she missed a lot of info
Tbh I'm extremely relieved to hear that there is a perfectly balanced premade raw food for our babies. Cuz I was really worried about having to make it and screwing things up.
thanks so much for this video i’ve been wanting a ferret for about 3 yrs now and I’ve done about 50 pages of research! I’m so excited because i’m getting one for christmas and I’m feeding it raw so this video helps a lot!
That's so exciting! Be sure to check your local shelters and ferret rescues to see if there's a fuzzy in need that is close to you ♥️
Libbylooper I’m getting from a shelter :)))
Loved the video! Great content, Bryn! 👍🏻
You are the best ferret mom I’ve ever watched! Thanks so much!
You're the first person I've found on youtube who has actually provided answers to *all* the questions I had on feeding ferrets. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for doing this video I have just now started my ferret on raw she is my baby so I want to make sure I do everything she needs!
I might get a ferret or two, but I was researching this, your grind helped me so much! I am a little discusted by raw meant still, but I will do it for the health of possibly 2 cat snakes! Thank you!
This helps so much thank you!♥️
Thank u for doing all this research and sharing with us!
This video was so helpful! I’ve watched all of the others on the raw playlist. I’m adopting two boys in the beginning of December from a family who can’t take care of them any longer and they’re currently eating Marshall brand kibble. We’ve got a long way to go 😂
Aaa thank you so much!! Your so helpful.❤️❤️
Thank you for this, its very informational and i love all ur videos!
Hey there! Quick video suggestion in case you have an idea block! I'd love to see you review different people's ferret diets, such as making sure the ferrets have a balanced diet, (good quality kibble, the balance of raw foods throughout the week.) and helping us ferret owners improve our feeding! Perhaps it could be in the format of the cage reviews, but that's up to you! I'd personally love your feedback on the way I feed my fluffies. Thanks!
Hi I’m a new subscriber. I’m really excited to find a new ferret ytber. The one I used to watch got busy with her website and hasn’t uploaded in a while. (Ferret world)I really want a ferret butI know I won’t be able to get one for a few years I have a whole notebook of research but I’m still looking stuff up about themI was sad to see ferret world girl but I needed a new one to watch so thank you for continuously uploading!
This video was alot of help ❤🐾😊
I’ve been a fan since March of 2019, and your videos have really helped guide me through having my first ferrets! I have three, and since my one ferret suddenly got sick (he’s finally better now after two months), I have wanted to raise them healthier, so I really want to switch to raw feeding. These videos really inform me to know how to feed them safely and which method of raw choose. Thank you so much for informing us new ferret owners about these things! It really helps.
Edit: I just realized I have a question. How do you store your frozen meat? Once you open it, do you keep it in the fridge or in the freezer? Also, how long does it last in the fridge/freezer? I am a vegetarian and don’t really know how to store meat.
thank you so much for this video. very informative 🥰
This video helped me so much. I’m so thankful I found you channel. Your ferrets are soooooo cute to! I have two and their names are scooby and shagy💕
Just got a 4 month old male and was hoping to feed it raw foods. Glad I clicked on your video.
Ever since ive seen a ferret ive wanted one. My parents say no, my gaol now is when i live on my own i will get a part time job and then have money to afford teo ferrets you are the best person giving me so much advise
Just wanted to say thank you:
I just got my Ferret April! Thank you! I have a better idea what to feed her. Will be visiting your channel often! 🙂
I was looking for info for my dog but stumbled here...
I have to say it's adorable.
love love the video, want to start my baby ferret out with raw and transition my older ferret to raw.
I'm happy dis vid won the pole
your videos help so much i want 2 ferrets so i wanna make sure i research a lot
I have a few questions:
-How long do 5 and 2lb containers of whole ground prey last for you? I want to get a read on how much I need to get if I decide to buy bulk.
-Is it better to feed one type of animal a day? Or multiple?
-Is there anything I should watch out for in locally bought meat? Specifically from grocery stores.
-Besides fish, are there any other meats I should stay away from feeding too often?
-Are there any other soups you'd recommend? I don't really want to support marshall, you know?
I'll be watching the other videos in the playlist after this one, so I'm sorry if you've already covered these.
--------
Your videos have fully convinced me to switch to raw.
The hardest part will be convincing my mom. But I'm about 99% sure she'll comply once she knows the benefits!
For people in the UK, Sure4Pets does pretty cheap whole prey grinds
This is an awesome video, thanks so much for the information!
I do have a few questions though...
1) How much eggshell powder is okay for them to have per week? Two eggs?
2)Can a ferret contract salmonella or other raw meat illnesses and pass them on to you?
3)What should someone do for hairballs? As they are dangerous and cause blockages or do the bones take care of that? If you're not feeding with bones what is the best treatment to prevent hairball blockages? I am really concerned with this because I can't a healthy remedy by store brands.
Thank you for your time and insightful information!
Could you recommend some good ferret facbook groups? I am having a hard time finding them 😓
Thank you so much! I am a fourteen year old moving to arizona. Can you make a video called: The Ultimate Guide to Putting Together your Ferrets Home. Iknow it’s complicated, but I’m doing every bit of research for EVERYTHING. I know a lot of it thanks to you and your helpful information. I love your channel and it’s the best one out there! It’s a shame that you got no ads in it🙁 I might get a ferret, but I want to see if I have all the items for my set up and a vet that also treats ferrets within 30 minutes away. If there isn’t, then I’ll have to forget about the ferret.
Ayyy! Arizona is amazing. (Despite the insanely hot weather and the “scenery”. It’s pretty for the first few weeks, then all you see is dried out trees and cacti.)
Alright boys we going with the ferret food
(No expert, just sharing my good news & how I personally did it)
My first step was to just simply get them off of that horrible Marshall's kibble they were given, period! lol! As soon as I got them, it was my goal to get them off of ANY ferret-marketed kibble, and I transitioned them specifically to the *Instinct Raw Ultimate Protein* chicken cat kibble! ... not any other version or flavor of the instinct raw brand. Specifically just the "Ultimate Protein" chicken one, because of the ingredients list!
I only gave them this kibble for a couple months, to help them adjust & transition! It's still not perfect; but when looking at the ingredients list, makes "Instinct Raw Ultimate Protein" very close to perfect - Compared to other kibbles. And I went from this kibble, into a raw meat diet! This way I knew they were getting better quality kibble, until I could get them onto the best diet possible via raw meat!
All three of my ferrets were fully willing to eat "whole grinds" within two days! Both my boys went for it the first day! My girl decided to follow their lead, but it took her an extra day to be willing to fully go for it! I was thinking it'd take longer, I was prepared for it to take me weeks. But I got lucky, I guess, because it just took one to two days for all 3 of mine!
I did add a little water to it, and I used a fork to mix the water into it. So it was slightly soupy-ish, when I first tried giving them meat!
I feel transitioning them from a "real chicken" kibble, to a real chicken grind, is what helped make it possible to accomplish so fast! As well as the fact they are less than a year old, so they're still young. And how I made it just a little bit soupy to start out with.
Now, my goal/focus is to slowly incorporating other types of meats. (Rabbit, Duck, Turkey, Quail, and so forth) And I am wanting to gradually make it less of a grind, to more of chunks & legit pieces! We'll get there! I am only 2 weeks into this, so far; but I am *SUPER-DUPER EXCITED & HAPPY* at how well my 3 fur babies have done!

I like how this was posted exactly on my birthdate
How do you add the chicken wings into the diet? Does that work as a whole meal or is it added? I love your channel and I always look forward to your videos :)
Hewwo it’s me again. I was wondering where I could buy commercial grind? I wanna see the price of it and compare it to other options
Base Gaming I have the names in the video of the websites I use!
The FBI is everywhere.
Can you do a video of were can get raw meat plz it will be very helpful
Good vid. Thanks for the info. Looking for suggestions. I'm considering converting to a raw diet but don't want to break the back. Thinking about buying 2 whole chickens and 1 whole duck from the market and just putting them through a grinder. Bone, organ meat, and all. Mix together and freeze in ice cube trays for easy portioning for later. Thoughts?
i would use commercial grinds
Thanks so much! By the way. Do you know if it's okay to have a ferret completely free roamed if properly trained
Absolutely! As long as the space is safe for them to roam and you trust them to behave while they're out, of course they can be completely free roam.
I concur with Libbylooper. Mine have always been free roam, though I have a large, three-level cage with a ramp where I place food, water, and bedding so they are used to it if a time omes when they need to be confined for a while. They enter and leave the cage as they please and seem to like it as a sort of safe space for naps even though I have hammocks, tents, and other bedding all over the apartment. I also have some plexiglass "weezil-watchr" gates that I can use to confine them to certain rooms or sets of rooms when maintenance people or pest control need to visit. The ferret-proofing required, though, needs to be very thorough and detailed.
ferrets arent meant to be in cages unless you have multiple and one is sick.
The hazards of then eating something they shouldn't go up, just be sure there's nothing they can find... they are master explorers,
@@beefa1773 I agree. What I say to ppl is.. think of it like keeping a cat in a cage. The cruelty in that. I think ferrets are even more curious then cats. But it needs to be ferret proofed.
If u were to walk your ferret every day how much time should you walk them for?by the way I love your vids they are so helpful and entertaining to watch😁
Hi there! Your video is soooo helpful and informational! I recently fostered a ferret from a rescue who was fed raw previously. I feel that he has a problem eating bones. I chopped up some chicken wings and crushed the bones before giving to him, and he seems to always eat the non-bone meat first and then for the bone-in meat he actually leaves the bones out. Is there a good way to help him with the bones?
I'm trying to learn as much as I can before asking my parents to see if I can get ferrets and your videos are really helping me with cages, ferret diet etc. Also can you just start off raw or do you have to start on kibble and then transfer over to a raw diet?

thank you!
Omg, This is a lot of information. My brain hurts.
I'm planning to do a Ziwi Peak kibble diet for my future ferret when I move out and am older. Also, I'm going to have two of the same size bowls for the kibble and the water and place them directly by each other because the kibble is de-hydrating like you said. But about more bone needing to be added, I found that Ziwi Peak also has bones for ferrets and (I'm assuming) dogs. Would it be okay to give these bones to my ferrets? Or should I try to transition my future ferret after awhile from kibble to completely raw? Love the video! Your the greatest ferret owner I've ever seen.
Ziwi peak isnt a good brand for ferrets
Can you do a video on how to feed ferrets a raw diet with feeder animals? I've heard you can do that but it's expensive but I'd prefer it
Where would I be able to find commercial grinds? (Sorry if the question seems stupid)
When I get a ferret, I plan to let them free roam when I am home, and only keep them in a cage when noone is home, or at night. I also plan to feed raw because that seems to be the best for ferrets. I've been watching these videos to educate myself before getting a ferret because I want them to have the best life I can give them
Question, would you recommend rinsing the meat of with water before and/or after preparing it?
Thanks for your time :)
What you should do is make a video on ferrets choking and what to do the other day my ferret was eating raw meat at three in the morning thank God I was up and he started choking I took him out fast and hit his back very hard and saved his life you should make a video on that there’s only one girl on CZcams that has a video I think it would be great if you made one also.
I'm getting a ferret in February but I wanted to do my research before I just gave random food to my ferret I was going to just give him the marshals brand but I am so thankful for your videos I never would have known. But i was wondering if i do the frakenprey diet is it okay to give him pinkies for a treat on occasion
Absolutely! That's super great to do.
Im thinking about feeding my ferret Complete commercial grinds, would the same rule apply of letting them have access to their food allday?
I really wanted ferrets but I could never afford them:( this vid was very informative though!!
Can you feed kibbel and raw? Also I'm a huge fan 💖
I have a question.
For the comercial grinds i found some on raw feeding miami and can you just feed different grinds whenever you get them (like one week chicken and the next rabbit) also are raw feeding maimis grinds good and ok for ferrets to eat ?
If I do like a commercial grind withought bones could I just mix in the eggshell powder, as a meal I would give regularly
Can you add a list of what you feed and how you change it up so its not boring for your ferret please it will help me a lot oh btw I want to do fraken pray.🥺please I'm very confused add a list and show us how you make a meal.
Hello! Once they get used to the chicken soup how long should I feed them that before giving them slivers or bigger pieces?
does gizzard count as the other 5% organ. right now there on the holistic ferret forum soup recipe but i’m at the point where i’m adding chunks. aiming to do frankenprey diet
I’m interested in doing the full grind, but can I just go to my local super or butcher for chicken feet and the like or is there something with those that I should avoid? I personally have never eaten chicken feet but they’re not too hard fo get a hold of where I live.
How do you know which freeze dried is best is it like a complete thing or do you need to get like multiple ones like different proteins
So instead on introducing meat chunks to them you would do some grinds if that’s the method of feeding you want to do?
Hi! Just curious where you’re figuring out these numbers? Having a lot of trouble finding any research on ferret diets
Question if I'm feeding just kibble can I add water with it because you said they mostly get there water from the food they eat would that work
What freeze dried and air dried foods you would recommend
I have a question ... I am going to get a ferret soon and I wanted to know what my best meal plan could be . I can’t do it like your I can only give it the same foods over and over . But I obviously want it to be healthy . I would really want to have my meal plan like yours but I can only use 1 type of meat 😬
Hey Bryn if i where to get chicken legs from the store cut it up and feed it to my ferret would that be ok for the ferret?
Can ask you for some advice? We got a ferret from a rescue. I don't know how old he is. It took a few weeks to transition him to raw. I feel I still have to go back and forth from meaty soups to whole bigger pieces. I'm not if he gets bored or what. Anyway this was working for 2 months but now he's not eating either. I did offer kibble after being worried that he didn't eat for 1.5 days and he gobbled it down rapidly. I let him have his fill but then tried to go back to offering raw. Have I just ruined everything? Can I overcome this? Why won't he eat the raw anymore?
I looked on the website you put in your description. I saw different animals, and I saw rabbit, duck, and chicken all grounded whole, if i fed my ferret each of these would that meet her diet? Or if i fed her one everyday like one day she eats chicken and the next day she eats rabbit. I have tryed to get her to eat raw chicken and other meats but all the she will eat is the bone and she will get rid of all the meat cuncks I mix in with her kibble (she eats wysong kibble). The kibble she eats is know to be good but I want her diet to be better :(. Shes about 5 or 6 months now. Is she to old to try and switch over?
Hey! I was wondering if I just buy some whole prey chicks on Hare Today could I just feed my ferrets one chick a day or so I have to add other meats?
i have a question, I want to get a ferret and put them on a whole prey diet, how much mice/chicks should I feed them per day? also thank you so much you've helped me so much to find out about ferrets ^^
If males generally eat 2-4 oz, do you split that up between meals or is that per meal?
And how much chicken wings/necks do you feed per ferret?
Last question, how do you meal plan for complete whole pray grinds? Do you just measure it and feed different animals everyday?
Hi there! I’ve just gotten a small kit, I think it was taken away from its mum too early, however has been raised on high protein kitten food, (not my choice) I have bought some meats however they all go in the freezer because that’s all we are able to get at the moment! Is that okay for them?
Where do you find commercial complete grinds?? I’m really trying to transition my ferret
I have a few questions, when should i feed them?
Also when i feed them grinds do heat it up till its warm?
When you say whole pray, does that mean I could get a feed rat like I would give to my snake? (I give my snake live rats) or would it have to be dead? And I’m still pretty confused on what I would feed a ferret. I want the easiest route but the one that’s very beneficial for them. I don’t wanna do something wrong with the food part- but I feel like I’d have everything else down
Would you recommend the course while ground chicken from my pet carnivore
If you feed them chicken feet would it be better to get freeze dried or raw? And also how is there anything specific to look out for? Ik there is when u give them duck feet you have to be careful and check if the bone is too thick but i have no clue about chicken feet
What kind of kitten food is beneficial for them ?
I have 5 and they poop alot and have kibble in their cage with water available 24/7 now I'm thinking it could be part of the problem, would love your input 😀
Recommendation for where to purchase balanced commercial grinds
My pet carnivore, raw feeding miami are my faves :)
for grinds can you give them the ones recommended for cats?
Hey, I came across your videos and you seem to have put in a lot of time and research into ferrets. I just had a question as I'm getting a new ferret this week! I think I want to go for a raw diet for my new boy and I would like to try and begin transitioning him as soon as I can. So I was just wondering if feeding whole grinds such as those from mypetcarnivore.com, would be just fine. If I were to buy a few different meats so it's not boring for him is that alright, I know they need a certain of meat, bone, heart or kidney so I just wanted to know if these work as meals on their own. Thanks!
In your video you said you feed varieties... can you post a link to those? I’m looking at the website for where you buy the food, but it looks like they all come separate?
what portion sizes do you serve per ferret? (oz, grams, whatever measurement you use would be lovely)
When the grinds come frozen can the be thawed and refrozen
Can you do kibble+ add full prey a few times a week?
hello its me again wait things does every meal time need to have (ex : proteins , calcium ect )
where can I obtain commercial grinds ?
This might sound stupid but how do you get these meats from the schedule on that one feeding technique. I dont know where to get them
Will it help to get them to eat the ckn soup to add a little to their wet kibble?
When you say preserved in any way, is being frozen included in that?
Getting 2 ferrets and deciding on whole prey mice chicks and stuff
Where do I buy whole grinds? Seems like the easiest option. I just adopted a ferret. Or where the heck do I buy any of these weird meats? I’m in Fort Worth tx. And are any bones okay? Like chicken bones?
How do you grid the chicken feet? Do you put them in a blender/food processor?
It’s already pre ground up from Hare Today!
