    So finally a company has developed a pair of headphones that adapts to the way your ears like to hear things. Someone gets that no two people hear things the same way. Did Nura pull off a masterpiece or is this just a gimmick? Enjoy!

    Hey mate - Tuning in from Australia here. I bought these headphones and have been absolutely blown away and really proud of this awesome Aussie company. If there was any justice in the world you would be outdoing UnboxTherapy as I found this review to be the fairest and most accurate. You taught me about the perforations to keep your ears cool, which I had no idea about - although I had noticed that my ears were heaps cooler over time. I'm not sure if you got an earlier pair but they included four different ear sizes in my box to cater for smaller ears. I'm definitely going to subscribe to this channel based on this review alone. Well done.

    Just a heads up to those that decide to get these. They are Lease for Life headphones. Nura will send you new headphones every 2 years, BUT if you ever cancel the service you have to send ALL the headphones back, and if any are damaged you will be charged for them for full price regardless of how long you have had them. I found this out the hard way. Hoping to save others from the same surprise. You also have to pay for all the shipping of the return of each headset.

    I love this review! I desperately want to try them. But I want to make a bit of a distinction for anyone who, like me, finds this review so far after it was posted. Assuming that the headphones do EXACTLY what they say they do, and that the calibration process works PERFECTLY, then every user who uses these WILL hear exactly the same thing. What it is doing is measuring the sensitivity of the cochlea to the vibrations of different frequencies, and returning a signal that is orders of magnitude smaller than the original tone. The signal is so quiet that in order to detect it, everything needs to be very silent, hence being in a quiet room and ensuring a seal around the ears. EVERY frequency played will produce a return signal, and depending on its intensity, will tell you about how sensitive the ear was to it. All the headphones do from that point is adjust the entire frequency range to compensate for regions of the sound spectrum that your ear is more sensitive to, and those that are less sensitive, essentially bringing all levels to flat. It has absolutely nothing to do with the way you like to hear music, or the way your ear "likes to hear music". The reason they sound so good is because eq can be added to music, and since it will be corrected to accommodate your specific ear, you will hear EXACTLY what was intended, even if you have a bit of hearing loss on one end or another (or in the middle too). So to be clear, It is not going to magically know that you prefer more bass and dislike highs, or that you like heightened midtones. You will still have to tell it that by means of things like custom eq on your music, or lowering the bass a bit.

  • @Rondoggy67
    @Rondoggy67 Před 6 lety +19

    Great review...but with one serious error: The headphones don't create a "personalised sound" for you that is different from other people.
    In fact they do the opposite; they measure your hearing and apply a correction so that the headphones sound the same to you as they would for anyone else who has had their own personalised correction.
    The idea is that there is a "best sound", and the profiling makes it possible for anyone to hear that best sound.
    The only limitation is that some people have severe hearing impairments, and although these headphones will help they won't give you back "20:20 hearing".

      I've had my Nuraphones for about 6 months.
      Your comment is totally fair. I've experienced the same but as their site says, over the first hours of use, the silicone will become more malleable which has been my experience.
      I found that the more when I listen to my bass heavy music, the ventilation works much better when on the top half of the Immersion and higher volume as the cups move more.
      I came from a well loved pair of QC25s and I REALLY wish the cups weren't silicone cause it holds the oils from my skin and looks gross and needs to be cleaned periodically. Also, if they are colder than room temp, they will take a little time to become soft enough to create a full seal. 5ish mins is normally enough.
      I love EDM and have never found headphones that have me enough bass until now. I'll continue to be a fan and recommend to any wealthy audiophiles or bass heads. :)

    I own the nura phones, they are for bass heads, and yes the bass is insane with these, while at 50% immersion the highs and mids are not sucked or drowned out by the bass, these headphones are all about the bass, i am confident that the nura phones is one of the best bass head headphones you can get out of every other headphone in the world.

    I have the Sony xm3, the nuraphone and now the audeze penrose x. The nuraphone still sounds the best off all three. I can wear The nura for 8 hours straight. From the start it feels weird in your ears but the sillicon Will be softer each week. No sweating nothing. The sound separation is from another world. The penrose just sound to flat for me. The nura also have great highs and mids but also a strong clean bass if you want to. Try the nura for a few weeks and you Will Never listning to another headphone. Only downside of the nura is the special cable iso a normale 3,5 mm jack. You have to buy it if you have the hard case. If you have the box with the soft case they include the 3,5mm. I bought the nuraphone for 269, best headphone for me. Iam not an audiophile and i do not want to be one. I hate it when music is to flat.

    Duuuuder! EXCELLENT Review and video! I REALLY want these headphones. Every question I had about them, ie: Sound, comfortability, wired/BT/ you answered not just perfectly, but with & in extreme detail, (especially the animated inner ear examples, the cut aways, & plus all the edits of demonstration) & that’s what we want/love to hear/see as consumers when in the market for...well anything really. Well done brother! The fact that they “adapt” to your own personal eq likings is both freakin’ amazing, but also freaks me out but only in a sci-Fi horror film kind of way, like, “how does it “Really” know and what’s being programmed in my head” lolol. Jk but it does cross your mind, but more for comedic reasons. I would love to have these, but would definitely have to put them on layaway, but in all honesty...completely worth the price in my opinion. By the end of it I was already planning the 1st songs I’d want to hear through these guys, 1) Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb 2) Beatles “Day in the Life” (“Tomorrow Never Knows”....you know I couldn’t just pick 1 lol) 3. Oasis “Champagne Supernova” - Remastered 4. Stereolover - “Madness” 5. Metallica - “Master of Puppets”. (#1 was the hardest cause knowing me I’d just end up listening to “The Wall” in its entirety, then go right into “Dark Side of the Moon” lol. Again brother, excellent as always, I’m gonna forward this to my pops, I think he’ll be finally able to enjoy music fully for the 1st time in 30 years with these. (Hearing impaired, but Dre Beats actually works “okay” for him, & I know hear would just bury them). Gimmie a buzz or text whatever, I wanna ask ya something related to these and those JBL’s I got. Thanks man, keep rockin! -J

    I've actually got a question, with the generic mode, have you listened to the headphones from an audio engineering aspect? Like, are they able to push that high fidelity sound through that mode and have it come through as objective and honest/flat as possible while still sounding great? I'd like to get into filming videos as well as producing music from my phone and I'm interested in using them wired as well as on bluetooth for consumer use aside from just using them for semi-pro stuff on the side, so if that's possible I'd be down to get them unless it'd be better to get a pair of Master&Dynamic headphones that can also be either wired or connected via bluetooth and produce good consumer grade sound that's still neutral and flat enough to be used for that purpose

    • @DoRC

    • @Leonhart_93
      @Leonhart_93 Před 6 lety +1

      I would say there is no excuse for them to use attached cables at all, but the majority of the lower price consumer headphones still have that. And also if you go to the very high end headphones, 90% of them will have proprietary connectors. I am not saying that what they are doing is fine, but a principle like that will limit you severely.

    • @araisikewai
      @araisikewai Před 6 lety +3

      Haven't tried HD1, so I can't compare but you certainly got them at a very good bargain.
      As for nuraphone, among all the rave review it got out there, let me list you some of the pros and cons so you can decide whether you should upgrade.
      First the pros:
      1. Price and what you get: you can easily get 20% off coupon from any owner, but the discount doesn't extend to any additional cables that you might want. They already come with USB-A cable that can be used with PC (it's better sound quality using USB-A cable compared to analog 3.5 mm cable), but not much else. If your Android capable to use APT-X HD, you wouldn't need cable because the wireless quality is just as good. iPhone might be better served with cables because they still doesn't support APT-X HD, but lightning cable are too pricy. There's also 30-days satisfaction warranty, so you can cancel the purchase and return the headphone if it's not up to your satisfaction.
      2. Sound, it's just so good... The bass is unbelievable. And the stage... There's a vast amount of soundstage that I can't believe it's a closed headphone.
      3. Mic: this headphone is so difficult to wear and take off that the mic it has for answering call is a God send.
      Now let's talk about the cons:
      1. Comfort: for most people this is the deal breaker. The unlucky few would felt that it's very painful to wear. But over time (about 1 month) it does get comfortable, because the spring molded with usage.
      2. App: it's annoying to use. If you like to tweak the bass depending on song, you have to use the apps. Thing is it can only be used with your phone and only on Bluetooth mode. So you have to unpair it or unplug it if you're using them with other source. And also the apps doesn't work offline, so you'll also need data/Wi-Fi connection.
      3. Mic: as good as the mic does it can only be used with phone on Bluetooth connection (unless you use lightning cable), it's quite useless with PC or gaming console.
      4. Cable: those dang cables, too pricy and too propriety that you can't risk to lose it or damage it.

    I have the SONY MDRXB950BT using on my rooted note 4 with Viper4arise fx sound mod and let me tell you...it makes the headphones a monster!

      IMO the pricing for the headphone is fair in comparison to other brands, especially since you can easily get 20% off coupon from other owner's recommendation. The pricing for the cables though... Well it's quite steep, especially for iPhone cables. And I couldn't recommend to use it with iPhones without cable because iPhones don't support APT-X HD. Listening it on Android, there's a huge difference between using APT-X HD and without. Cable is a must if your device doesn't support APT-X.
      But at least it already comes with a USB-A cable that can be used for charging and listening on PC. Sadly analog cable is not included.

    Base sounds like the OG skullcandy crushers... The bass on the nuras is no where in the same universe as the skullcandy ceusher 360. The 360s have mind blowing smooth, rich bass.

    • @joshzilla007
      @joshzilla007 Před 5 lety +1

      I just returned 360s, the bass was great even at 3/5 setting but my problem was they didn’t get loud enough.
      I know it’s not a good thing but I like my music LOUD AF sometimes, do the nuras get louder than 360s?

    • @no1up
      @no1up Před 5 lety +1

      @@joshzilla007 so I've been playing with the nuras for the past few days and they have quickly climbed the rank of top cans for me. I also have the crushers, had the 360s, sony 950s, sony xm3, master & dynamic mw07, jaybird run, jaybird tarah pro, vmoda cf2.
      The nuras (after running through the eq settings a few times) really nailed it and sound fantastic. I like my volume loud AF too and found that most all these cans cant reach that level. The vmodas and the nuras are the loudest JUST reaching that level but no higher. I'd like to have wiggle room.. the nuras have an edge with the ANC which works VERY well, and the plugs in your ear. For the gym they work well with the social pass through and touch works perfect if not a little too sensitive. If you're doing a workout like athlean x or insanity, p90x.. then the nuras wont work, to much quick movement and the weight of the cans. For music quality absolutely nuras, or the vmodas. Get a jambox from Amazon for $10 and you can increase the volume of any headohone you can plug in like the 360s or the vmodas. This makes them REALLY REALLY loud.
      I'll be doing a video of all these headphone all at once tomorrow evening. I'll post it up asap.

    • @joshzilla007
      @joshzilla007 Před 5 lety

      I really appreciate the feedback man.
      So I’m looking for gym and roller skating headphones.
      Gym is daily and lifting, not movement oriented like p90 so sometimes to motivate I crank the music up. I thought the crusher 360s were sick (although I wanted more volume) until I took them skating at the roller rink. That’s when I noticed they weren’t near loud enough. I know those aren’t active noise cancelling but even the volume couldn’t drowned out the speakers.
      I’ve always LOVED loud music that sounds great, I never thought I was an “audiophile” or a snob when it came to sound but the fact that I can’t find headphones I like even at the $300 range is frustrating.
      Never even knew about the jambox, I’ll look into it because the 360s sound was nice, just not enough of it. Their downside was going from deep bass hip hop to double bass pedal metal music, they didn’t give the metal that bass punch like I would have expected with the smooth deep bass they have on hip hop.

    • @joshzilla007
      @joshzilla007 Před 5 lety

      I actually just came from checking out the Sony XM3s and they didn’t impress me like I thought they would
      Don’t get me wrong, they’re super nice but I didn’t buy them because they A. Didn’t get loud enough and B. At $350 I want to be freaked out.
      Some of my expectation might have been driven by the rave reviews. They are like the 360 bass head cans. So it’s just clear sounding music that doesn’t “rock your world”

      OK, I have one and it WAS uncomfortable to use. At first I can barely stand using it for 20 minutes before tearing it off my head because one of the nubbin try its best to drill into my ear. But after 2 weeks, suddenly I find that I can wear it for couple hours without any discomfort. That is up until I take it off and all the feeling of sore suddenly creep up to my ears. After a month though there's no longer any painful experience during and after taking off the pair.

    • @DmxAng
      @DmxAng Před 6 lety

      Ricky Ng why is that you think?

    • @araisikewai
      @araisikewai Před 6 lety

      ahmed6675 For one, my earlobe is quite unique in that they're very thick and unyielding. The headphone itself is quite heavy and if positioned incorrectly they put some pressure downward hanging on the earlobe. So that might be part of the reason.
      And the stalk/nubbin are spring loaded, so the first few tries they were not yet molded properly to my ear shape.
      Over time it's either the spring or my earlobe that soften, and also I've grown accustomed to wearing it correctly that they no longer hurt as it does in the first week.
      And yeah, wearing it correctly is almost an artform dealing with this pair of headphone. The band must be positioned in a way that the can can be adjusted as high and forward as possible so that they don't put as much pressure down or backward. Simply said, this is not recommended as a runner's headphone, not even if you like to bob your head too much.

As far as affiliate links, inevitably someone in the comments is going to ask for a link because they're too lazy to look it up. Also, WHY would the creator leave money on the table by not having an affiliate link? If you purchase the product, is it wrong if he gets a little change for steering you in the right direction? If he told you it was a bad product and you decided to pursue it anyways... Hell, he should STILL get credit for it coming from his work in the video. It's not about "having incentive" it's simply getting paid for your work and free enterprise. The guy put in a lot of work and created a great video. Please don't undermine his work with such a petty comment.
