  • Years ago, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi's controversial claim that he was no longer apart of the 'salafi' movement made headlines and generated some heated criticism against him. In this brief clip, Shaykh Yasir gives further perspective on his position and more insight into how he views Islamic 'groups' and movements. This clip is taken from the 'Talking With Teachers' Podcast and you can see the full episode with Shaykh Yasir Qadhi here:

An answer which is very confused . He has made himself a mujtahid in Fiqh very much in the mold of Ibn Taymiyyah, and in aqeedah he’s still very much Taymi. In addition to this , despite 30 years of study in aqeedah , much of it was self study . To say the atharism of ibn Qudaamah, or abu Y’ala or Ahmad shows compete ignorance and someone who hasn’t understood basic terminologies .

Piety can only be defined by the Quran and Sunnah. Whatever someone attempts, outside of these boundaries will take their imagination and emotions over what Allah SWT has revealed. People filled with this kind of “truth” seeking reveal their Doubt rather than their assertion of the ultimate Truth. (Quran and Sunnah). “Have the faith of old ladies” as they say.

It's only a fitnah if you think that a man named muhammed ibn abdul wahab knew the true islam and the previous scholars for 1200 years didnt. Otherwise the Ahlus Sunnah consist of 4 madhabs. The salafi movemnet is a strand of the Hanbali madhab. We connect our current opinions to the opinions given by the previous scholars. Using this method we derive our teachings back to the Prophet PBUH.

The Qur'an is absolute Truth. Hadith, Fiq'h, Madhhabs are relative truths in so far as they compliment the Qur'an. The Prophet will complain on the Day of Judgment about what? Will he say "My Lord! My people abandoned the Salafi/Hanafi/Shafii/Hanbali/Maliki/Ibadi/Jaafari/Zaydi/Ismaili/Alawi methodology?" or will he say "My Lord! My people abandoned this Qur'an."

To claim that their opinion is the only correct opinion is false considering that the tabi'een and atba ut tabi'een differed so their followers would logically differ. What keeps us united is that we can agree there are four madhabs and as long as we stay within these guidelines, we leave the rest to ALLAH SWT. When these salafis start pointing fingers despite knowing that the scholars differed and claim that only they can be right, this is a big problem.

@@GHURABA_DUNYA everyone is part of a sect. Everyone has a set of beliefs that distinguishes himself from others. Everyone has a red line that when crossed by anyone is deemed a heretic. The difference between people who use labels like “Salafi” and those who don’t like you is that those who do use it are more explicit and honest in what they believe in while those who don’t aren’t. Also, what’s your problem with Salafism? Salafism is Islam so if you have a problem with it then you have a problem with Islam.

Salafiyyah doesn’t require a man like YQ, who pushes zandaqah. The same individual called sharia laws bizzare, considers people who legislate for LGBT rights and those who see them as acceptable to be Muslims, on tape he advocates for revisionism and ‘fine-tuning’ the Islamic laws for apostasy similar to how Christian’s and Jews did.
Mr Qazi believes if you call upon Krishna or a Ronald McDonald statue seeking their help whilst believing they are not independent of Allah - then you are still a Muslim.
It is clear as day the path YQ is on, he is a caller to modernist liberal ideas, he instilled doubts in people’s heart about preservation of the Quran, questions established texts of the sharia, it is safe to say the role he is playing right now is similar to the zanadiqah of the past who tried to pollute the sunni creed.
May Allah guide him back to the correct beliefs of Islam.
