  • Bukka White’s 1933 National Duolian resonator was described by BB King as a “holy relic” of the Delta blues. This historic guitar is up for auction on 13 March via Gardiner Houlgate in Corsham, Wiltshire. Here, we put it though its paces and get the backstory.

Please explain why you let the person playing Bookers guitar wear a damn thumb ring! He played gently not to harm the instrument but a thumb ring on your fretting hand on such a historic piece made my heart nervous.....

Good to see Hard Rock is in good hands Bukka would be happy I bet,you can also thank John Fahey, for bringing him out of retirement, way back when,John Fahey wrote him a letter when he got to know who he was by reading about him, and they got together, and if that never happened,we would never know who Bukka White was,who knows.????? GREAT BLUESMAN,that guy can pick and play slide, big time, god bless.

The guy playing needs to play it harder to get the real sound . I.e. thumb pick or plectrum atack it dig in a bit with aggression , play like you mean it the way Booker did .
sounds more like some corny advert for a hotdog or something what a waste ..

It's not really polite to beat the shit out of a legendary guitar when it doesn't belong to you and it's up for auction 🙄

they could've at least tuned the fucking thing properly

It was very hard to get the thing to stay in tune - it hadn't exactly had a recent setup and was about 86 years old at the time with ancient strings… we did our best!
