Jim Bob Revisits the infamous 1992 Carter USM Glastonbury headlining set

- This June it will be the 31st anniversary of Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine headlining the main stage at Glastonbury festival.
To celebrate this momentous occasion I’ve built a life size replica of the Pyramid stage in a small room in my house and next Friday at 7.30pm I’m going to perform the 1992 Carter Glastonbury set live on CZcams. Balls and all. I’ve just checked and at 7:30 you won’t miss much if your’e watching the festival on telly. You’ll miss the beginning of Royal Blood (not the end bit when they have a go at you for not clapping) and somebody called TBA on the Woodsies formally John Peel, no comment, Stage.
My manager Marc will be there in the CZcams comments, just as he was there at Glastonbury in 1992. It was his first ever gig. He was fifteen and he thought he had to be down the front for the entire day waiting for us. When we came onstage the whole crowd surged, Marc got kicked in the head and missed half the gig.
Anyway, Marc will be there to answer any questions you have and try to get you to buy a copy of my new album, which let’s face it is why I’m doing this. I’ve now reached the point in the album PR campaign where I’m basically going to outright start asking you to buy a cheap cassette or download a copy from Bandcamp just so I’ve got enough money to make another record. I was awake at 3am this morning worrying about what a financial hole I’ve dug for myself. Listening to the album on Spotify is lovely but my granddaughter needs new shoes. Those tiny feet grow so quickly. Sadly you can’t stream footwear (yet).

I was 31 when I saw Carter at Glasto '92, I'm 62 now. It was the best gig I was ever at. Saw them loadsa times after that, and had my photo taken with Jim at the bar after Brixton in 2008. Great memories. Master of the pun and a top lyricist. Nice one Jim. ✌️❤️😊

I was 10 at the time of the original headline set. I got into Carter a few years later and I was listening to a bootleg of the Reading 1992 set ? on my walkman in my German class. My German teacher told me off and asked me who I was listening to. I told him. Carter USM. He said. I’d grow out of liking them. 30 years later and I’m still a fan. Maybe I haven't finished growing yet.
Late to the party due to work. That was 1,000,000 times better than anything we've seen on Glastonbury at the BBC. Loved your set at The Cluny last November, Jim Bob - please come back soon! 😘

me too & one memorable occasion was some festival in belgium where it was pissin down & they weren't allowed to play for safety reasons so they give us a choice of venues on their uk tour & we went up to cambridge to watch them @corn Xchange - bloody brilliant times when I had dredz (now 65yrs old + still a fan)

My first ever concert in 1992, at University of Michigan in 1992. Had never heard of Carter, was there for EMF. 31 years later I couldn’t tell you the last year I played Schubert Dip, but 30 Something and 101 Damnations are in my regular rotation.

I wonder if Axl Rose will do a similar thing with the set he plays at Glastonbury this weekend? Just him and Slash, over a cup of tea :-). The Fruity picture was a nice touch.
