The Slit-Mouth Woman is one of my favorite stories. There are ways you can escape her unharmed. One way is if she ask you if she's pretty, just tell her you're busy. Thanks to Japanese etiquette, she'll have no choice but to let you go. She may be a monster but she still has manners.

Just say, "Beauty is constantly subjective, always changing form like some sort of shape shifting organic thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
Then throw a mirror up in front of her face so she sees her own reflection. "Are you pretty? Are you...beautiful?"
She will probably be so distracted that you can finally shoot her through the mirror. Hopefully one remembers the gun.

Medusa had such a tragic backstory. She tried to run away from Poseidon's advances, but he chased her down and raped her inside the temple where she served as a priestess. Athena, the patron goddess of that temple, blamed Medusa for what happened instead of Poseidon. It's kind of a reflection of what often happens with modern rape cases. Turning Medusa into a gorgon was Athena's way of punishing her, making sure no man would ever look on her with lust again.

So beautiful, sexy and powerful...men being rendered powerless in her very presents what the hell is there not to like? Its half-torso has devil-like wings which when it flies, it leaves its bottom part of land while the Manananggal searches for mostly young men, or handsome men. It is said that this typr of Aswang manifests a charming and beautiful woman around 20s and/or 30s. They are very attractive women that lures young and handsome men for them to be feasted at night. Like Medusa, but they fly and hunts people and feast on them midair. Filipino Folklore.

Guess saying Dziwożona in a little kids show was too complicated or might upset the Karens that know of the satanic creature.
Edit to add: I can't really take the Lamia and Harpy seriously cause of a certain harem manga/anime. Don't know if there are more of the monsters on the list, but I do hope they use some footage of the more lighthearted side of those mythical creatures.

People with sleep paralysis have reported something sitting on their chest making it hard to breathe or a man with a top hat and glowing red or yellow eyes staring at them.

Also known as SCP-1471-A, she resembles a black werewolf with her skull exposed. According to SCP lore there is an app people can download onto their phones that advertises never be lonely again. Those who do download the app will periodically receive pictures of the entity MalO at locations the user frequently visits. A few days later they receive pictures of MalO right beside them and finally the user will start seeing her in his peripheral vision and reflective surfaces. Her motives are unnkown.

tbf, Medusa is more of a tragic story and asshole greek gods than a mean monster so if you are planning to stop something like the kraken, a beast supposedly controlled by greek gods.. well, you might as well put on a blindfold and ask for her assistance and she just might give it just to stick it to the gods that transformed her into what she is.
Also, I would love to see a top 20 beneficial or good female creatures from myths and legends.
as example, kitsunes(though they can be both good as well as bad depending on the scenario). Although they can be tricksters, occasionally mean spirited and most often to be pranksters, they are tied to a Shinto deity and there are also tales of them helping people like Inari Ōkami and its fox spirits help the blacksmith Munechika forge the blade Kogitsune-maru.

I have some interesting facts about Medusa that may interest people!
Fact 1: She was not always a gorgon. She was in fact a normal human lady who was very, very beautiful.
Fact 2: Medusa had so many guys who had fell in love for her with her beauty. However, she refused their
love for her as Medusa had taken a vow to be a Priestess to Athena and Medusa still has her V-Card to
    boot.
Fact 3: Medusa only became a gorgon was because of Poseidon & Athena. There are a few versions of
this part of the story. One being that, one day Medusa was on her way to the temple of Athena when a
certain god of the sea had pop his head out the water and saw her. Poseidon fell for her beauty and was
planning to "bed her" but she refused him like all the other guys. Poseidon was not happy about that, so
he "forced himself" on the poor Medusa.
As Medusa had try to escape. Athena saw Medusa and Poseidon together and instead of hearing both
sides of the story, Athena placed a curse on Medusa turning her into a Gorgon. Athena did not do any
-thing to Poseidon because not only he was one of the three strongest Greek gods, he was the brother
to the king of the gods so there was not much she can do about that.

  • @OmegaShenronDragon

Lol there's so many instances in modern pop culture. Harpies remind me of Yu-Gi-Oh , the furies made an appearance in a DC comic story but with female heroes turning into them & enforcing Darkseid's rule. Kuchisake-Onna is very similar to Mileena from Mortal Kombat. Banshee is an Irish X Men character who has sonic screaming powers & Sindel from Mortal Kombat has those powers herself. Sometimes they show a banshee spirit possessing her prior to a fighting. I appreciate the folklore going into these characters.

Aswang is a general term for monsters which can be either male or female. The one you had in your mind is called "manananggal" which is a female aswang that can detach her upper body from her lower body. She flies while her intestines are dangling out. She eats babies, either born or unborn. She also eats internal organs.
