Which movie ending do you find the scariest?!
Cats (2019)
Cloverfield.
Do not read if you hate spoilers
The return of the living dead because even after the nuke the zombies still come back
Even before watched, I knew the Decent was going to be my choice.
Illumanit weapon I phone 12 satan will pretend to be jesus christ in real life
As a claustrophobe, I can confirm that watching “Buried” was the single worst idea I’ve ever had.
I cosign this comment.
Facts
I am claustrophobic you couldn't pay me enough to watch that. I have panic attacks just when I am flying cause too small and too many people close to me
I’m also claustrophobic and this movie shook me up so much.
oh man I bet!! Why did you do that to yourself??
“The Mist” should definitely be on this list, will forever be one of my favorite endings to a movie ever
Scary and heartbreaking.
Seriously, one of the most depressing ending EVER!
That movie was shit
I loved that movie but hated the ending. And no, not just because it was shocking, I honestly think it was just bad.
Movie sucked
When I first saw Carrie, my dad touched my knee at the exact same time when Carrie's hand came up from the grave. Scared the living hell out of me.
I saw Carrie at 11yrs old.We snuck in & holy crap that was scary. That was a long, long time ago & it still is 1 of my faves.
I watched carrie and its a best movie
I like him already.
I remember waiting for an earlier showing of Carrie to let out. People didn't seem like they were leaving as much as fleeing. Told my friend this ought to be good!
uuhh why did you dad touch your knee
Carrie wasn't psychic. She was telepathic and telekinetic. If she was psychic, she would have seen the prom scene disaster, and probably would have just sat that one out.
Amanda Nantucket lol probably
carrie: nah chief im good, thanks tho
Powers such as telekinesis and telepathy are often referred to collectively as "psychic powers" stop arguing pointless semantics.
WAHOO YAHOO stop getting triggered over CZcams comment posts 🤷🏻♀️
Amanda Nantucket irony aside, if she was a telepath she would have read the minds of the mean students who suddenly became nice. In the novel she has both abilities.
When it's state "based on the true story"
Even when 99% isn't
sikisikiamimis no cap
Are u a anime fan and hi
Yikes! That will happen to someone else.
“Or based on the book/novel by”...
The giant spider
Everyone: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Australians: pathetic
Deadass I can’t even look at them in pictures they scare the life out of me
Yeah lol
It'd be "ARRRRRGH" since "AHHHH" is what you say when you realise something.
Lol
@@Hellwyck yup
1. The Last Airbender
That movie essentially killed any momentum for a live action Avatar series for years
Ya, trying to put 1 whole season/book into a movie was a bad idea, having a crappy script was bad, the actors giving very wooden performances was bad, taking all of sokka's jokes out was horrible
Executive Producer: Kathleen Kennedy
So it was the first franchise she ruined
@@sweetmissirish You're absolutely right. And they completely robbed Katara of any ability or agency. I shudder to think what a sequel would have done to Toph.
Why did you remind me of that movie. Dear god.
“Uung”
“Suuka”

Cool
classics
Thank you.
Sleepaway camp ending was disturbing and creepy
Yep thats true
It's absurd that it's only at #16.
Cory Akabueze I was gonna comment that bruh damn, but forreal that shit still freaks me the fuck out that I can’t stare at the screen too long
Ashley D *he
@@coreycasciano3255 Supposed to be he, but it's a she actress obviously.
The Wicker Man never fails to leave me feeling unsettled after watching it. It’s hands down one of my favorite movie endings.
Had to watch it for a college course. I was totally blown away at the end. Such a horrifying twist of an ending
“The beeez not the beeezz !
It's only beaten by The Borderlands for unsettling endings
@@scenes8325 nooooo not that Wicker Man!
Yeah I agree, I wish we didn't have that HORRID one with Nic Cage
Honestly MatPat's theory that The Blair Witch Project is the two guys just tricking the girl to kill her makes a lot of sense when you rewatch the movie
yeah but the remake definitely isn’t like that so i doubt it
Very surprised to see The Mist not on here. Not jump-scary, but definitely incredibly unsettling. Still, agree with all the movies listed. It's rare I like a whole WatchMojo list!
Stephen King preferred the ending to his own.
There is no higher praise.
Yeah it says SCARY endings, not tragic lmao
Seeing The Blair Witch Project the weekend was released and not really knowing anything about it was pretty brutal. Everyone in the theater sat silently in shock for quite a while.
See my buddies and i saw it and thought it was kinda dumb lol
“Her three choice words” she literally says 4 words
Old error from previous videos, because the Friday the 13th segment was also from a previous video.
It's almost like this channel is low effort recycled material. 🤔
End of Insidious got me good.
Same
yep
Um what part? Insidious 2 was not scary, but the end... I did not watch 3 and 4
The only part out of all the films that got me was the red and black demon face popping up behind the dude while they were talking.
Same 😭
My dad went and saw "The Blair Witch Project". It scared him so bad that it was the first and last horror movie he has ever watched.
It's scary in the right atmosphere. In a dark theatre, it would work.
The first Jeepers Creepers movie Should be on the list.
The scariest part of that movie was the director
YES, I HAD NIGHTMARES WHEN I WATCHED THAT AND I SAW THE ENDING
Watch my channel to see the truck 😌
@@swevven6663 I saw it when I was around 4 or 5 and the end made me cry all night
@@tejah818 I watched it at 5 and I cried for 7 hours until I slept
Shutter ending should have been listed. A ghost is watching a couple throughout the film who revealed to be the mans ex girlfriend who was obsessed with him. Majority of the movie he’s been complaining about having back pain only to have it revealed at the end through a photo that the ghost has been riding his back the entire time.
That movie is such a ride!! And the end had me desperately shoving myself against the back of the couch to get away from the screen!
That is definitely one of the genuinely scary movies ever. Much scarier than the grudge and the ring movies imo.
The one thing I will never understand about the Blair witch project is...who went into the witches cabin, found the footage and got back out safely?
they didn't, she will only let her cabin appear if they stay past nightfall, she makes it appear near the edge of the forest and in an strange place so its noticeable.
Chuck Norris DUH
The lore states that the footage was found in a duffle bag buried in the foundation of a burned down cabin
Your Mom.
Me
Candyman was the best dressed ghost OF ALL TIME! That man dictated his fashion style for decades lol! Loved it
+Izzy
Helen's husband was already starting the relationship with that other girl, while she was in the mental hospital and awaiting trial. In a way, she became the new Candyman, and she used her new powers to punish him for his betrayal. I can't wait for the reboot. What about you?
@@daniellemusella1594 I agree with you and extremely interested if they'll pick up some of her storyline, it would make they storyline some more.
Tony Todd is a very sexy, dapper man! I loved him as the mortician in Final Destination as well as the episode "sleepless" from the x files!
The Descent makes me never want to cave spelunking. With my luck, I'd get kidnapped by Sawney Bean and his cannibal family. 😂😂
Same! Never ever entering a cave in my life 😂
When the Alamo first showed this movie in Austin, they did it deep in an actual cave. They can do these things. I can still remember walking out at the end of the original Dawn of the Dead and into the mall where it was showing. It was unnerving.
Joker Supporter man, that one scene when they were crawling through that tiny tunnel and the roof started collapsing 😬😰
It was an overated movie
You should read about the Nutty Putty caves or Ted the caver. THAT will make you not want to go near a cave lol
No, Psycho should be #1. That ending is so frickin scary!
They'll see, and they'll say, "Why, she wouldn't harm a fly!"
I know I feel like psychological horror movies are always great.
Probably the best ending in movie history if we are not including the ending of the Shawshank redemption
Putting the Saw ending in honorable mentions is pretty disrespectful to such a masterpiece. That ending still gives me chills.
I don't think so my friend. That scene had been re-done so many times in the rest of the Saw sequels that it's no longer scary, just repetitive.
@@michellea221 how so
@@michellea221 What lmao
Which sequels was it repeated in?
Top 10 Horror Movie Franchises That Lost Their Touch
Cesar Victorino Nightmare on Elm Street
Same
I would say The Alien Franchise.
-Alien and Aliens were really good.
-Alien 3 was Okay.
-Alien: Resurrection was totally stupid.
-Prometheus was complete trash to me.
-AVP and AVP2 is good on paper but executed horribly.
-Alien: Covenant was a very good attempt, although it’s nowhere near Alien and Aliens.
1. Nightmare on elm street
2. Friday the thirteenth
3. Conjuring series
4. Candy man
5. I know what you did last summer
6. Final destination
7. Silent night deadly night
8. Halloween
9. Carrie
10.Child’s play
The conjuring
"Drag me to Hell" is an absolutely fucking comedy gold, I've watched it so many times and just couldn't stop laughing
Hereditary, too.
The ending of "Grudge"?
Anyone?
Ok.. nevermind
Oh hell yeah my favorite
Halloween is #1 for me. Michael Myers disappears into the night and his breathing can be heard while the theme plays into the credits.
It's a great ending.
The final scene to Halloween 4 is a classic too.
Honestly... The ending to Paranormal Activity 4 ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED me when I first saw it in theaters! Seeing thousands of those Coven witches walking towards her in the backyard right before the possessed Katie lunges at the camera scared the living and breathing shit out of me and I couldn't sleep for weeks after that!!!! I had to sleep with the hall light on at night just to make me feel better! 😱 The ending to Paranormal Activity The Marked Ones was also pretty terrifying!
The Blair Witch still does it for me because everything about the film suddenly feels subtlety off: Mike facing the corner despite _seconds ago_ being struck down is incredibly weird and unsettling.
Then there's Heather's voice being over in the distance even though she's the one holding the camera, and the camera is moving slow and steadily in spite of how panicked she is.
That film is so boring and overrated.
I absolutely love insidious, it's scary without showing blood or gore which is something i usually look forward to in a horror movie
Impressive list! As a horror fan of 30+ years I’ve seen all but (3) movies(fully) on the list. Would love to see more lists like this one!
The ending from paranormal activity still keeps me up at night😰
When I first saw The Blair Witch Project (I was 12) I was so convinced it was real! Still one of my favorite horror movies
2020 Ending is going to be creepy and scary
Javier Santana Avilés so far its a sad ending
@@bralow551 Well we are in the final half
Javier Santana Avilés yeah
@Maria Kelly But 2020 has been the worst year of the entire decade
@Stephanie Logan Good idea
I love James Wan’s horror movies you can definitely feel his absence in that last Conjuring movie.
In all honesty saw was my favorite jams wan movie
the shinning ending has always stuck with me that music is just....
*chefs kiss*
Is it just me or watch mojo has been posting more frequently? I love it
The problem is that most of this video were from previous videos and just reuploaded them.
I hate it.
Sleepaway Camp, REC, Carrie have brilliant endings. I love your #1 choice too. The Witch's ending isn't that scary. I can't believe you didn't even mention Black Christmas (1974), The Stepford Wives (1975), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Others, The House of the Laughing Windows, High Tension, House of 9, Soylent Green, Goodnight Mommy, Angel Heart, Alien Covenant, Final Destination series
Great list
No one:
WatchMojo: BeFoRe We CoNtInUe
The scariest scene I can remember ever watching was in the babadook when she goes to the police station and sees the babadooks clothes in the back. That sent chills up my back.
For me, it'll always be Buried. It was a brutal, and shot in such a manner that you can feel the exact terror that Ryan Reynold's character is feeling. I still get chills every time especially when the last thing you hear before he perishes is "I'm sorry Paul. I'm so sorry."
I just wish they had good microphones back then
The ending of Paranormal Activity still gives me chills
Halloween should've been near the top of the list, if not at the top. But an "honorable mention" is just an insult.
Good call, Jim, you're right.
Where's dead silence??
That movie gave me a sleepless night after i watch it and i must neutralize it by watching a kitten video on youtube
Yeah I thought that movie was scary as hell!!
I too don't think there's a scarier ending
Dead Silence made me terrified of screaming in scary situations!
Your channel is best for movie information
One that should've been on this list is a movie titled "Megan Is Missing"
Damn
@Gilbert M yeah, no kidding there
Especially the scenes leading up to what happened to the other girl before she's stuffed into the barrel with the dead body of Megan and then buried
Damm i swear this is a movie I couldn’t continue to watch especially after those dammn pictures that one hit hard
That movie was hilariously bad.
I found the ending so funny. It was so bad hahaha
The Shining is one of my all time favorite movies. The ending of him being in the photograph with the old song “Midnight, the Stars, and You” will forever be one of my favorite horror movie endings
The Skeleton Key should've been at least an honorable mention!!!
That ending shook me to my core!
I think horror is in a good place right now but there is something to be said about movies like the Omen where they didn't show everything. The acting is much more
I though Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978 had a very scary and dark ending.
The ending of "Sleepaway Camp" was both terrifying and awesome back in the day.
what about The Mist?
that ending was horrifying
that ending shattered my soul- a fan of Berserk
It wasn't horrifying. It was just down right depressing
true, but first viewing scarred me for about 3 days
@@pmchad fair point. How where you able to stop bring scared of it?
i just forgot
Buried made me so mad 😡 I thought he made it my anxiety was up the whole movie
How can you guys keep it up i started following you guys 5years ago and posted daily day by day
Watching all of paranormal activity 1 by myself at night was hands down the stupidest decision I've ever made, especially with the ending. I actually nearly jumped off the couch...(this was like 5-7 years ago)
I did that too, but I literally had to stop the movie after she threw the guy towards the camera, while she was standing at the door, because I was too afraid of what would happen next.
@@Ahnm1406 bruh same
Even though it doesn't count for this list, being a TV movie, the original Stephen king's it ends with some really creepy carnival/circus music and pennywise laughing, which I've always found to be really creepy
Yeah it rly creeped me out and actually they had a chance to put it (the tv movie) on the list because in their "Top 10 Horror Movies Ruined By Their Terrible Endings" they actually put IT on the list.
Who doesn’t love a cliffhanger?
I don't
Zacman1123 same they freak me out and I have to watch more until I find out it’s 3 am :|
Not me
Sissy Spacek was amazing as Carrie
Yeah Chloe grace Moretz just doesn't match the look of embarrassment and hurt Carrie had before displaying the look of absolute hate. You could see it in her eyes she was fucking done with everything and everyone
"47 meters down"(154 feets for my united statian friends) also has one of those dark endings.
I am shocked that no one mentioned the end of "The Ring", when that girl crawls out of the well and through the tv? It takes a lot to give me the chills. Also, the very end of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" when she breaks through the window and Leatherface is chasing her down that dusty road, she "barely" gets away and he is swinging the chainsaw in frustration as the screen suddenly goes black.
its 2020 and I watched the whole thing. thanks for being cool all these years watchmojo
How come Oculus isn't even an honorable mention?
That film scarred me for life.
watched 3times in a row to notice everything happening in the video hahaha made dad annoyed sm
Saw ending has managed to get only an honorable mention? You 've gotta be kidding me
Bruh.
I know people tend to shit on paranormal activity now a days, but man that was one of the best theater experience I’ve had. Great horror flick. Didn’t help that I had a crazy stomach ache that night and Couldn’t sleep. Never eat chillis before a horror movie.
Watching the first four movies of Paranormal Activity movies on Netflix and Paramount+ reminds me how I watched the first four movies of Insidious. I was VERY creeped out
Did you know that Nightmare on Elm Street scene was filmed by pulling a blow up doll through the window? Lmao
Cloverfield’s was scary AF.
I was literally JUST saying how the ending just left me like....damn. It was so bleak.
Yeah...goddamn it..
Yes definitely especially when the rocks fall on them at the end.
Agreed
Nah
watchmojo forgot to put the jeepers creepers ending that shit terrified me when I was younger
Awesome and cool!
What about the original 'The Vanishing'? Top five at least.
It’s 03:03 Here btw... youtube chose the perfect time to recommend this to me
It's true, back in the 70's, Carrie's ending was a scene that got people. Freddy and Friday 1 were awesome too. I gotta say, SAW's ending is shocking.
Thank you for not showing that incredibly disturbing scene in sleepaway camps ending 🙏
Nice redo of an old list 👌🏽
The end of Buried was very sad, and upsetting at the same time.
The shining scared the crap out of me when I first watched it when I was 12!.
I still get spooked by the part in Insidious where he's in the alternate living room with the family sitting very still...so creepy.
OH MAN, the first time I saw Insidious a few years back and seeing the scene at 6:08 scared the absolute crap out of me, I stopped watching the movie completely after that XD I was wondering if it was going to show up on this list with the scene, and long behold it had! Still creeps me out to this day
Insidious and the descent 💯
invasion of the body snatchers. the scream still haunts me.
Gotta love these old school horror movies.
I love the Saw movies. I have all of them, including the latest, Jigsaw!
“Don’t Look Now” deserves more love
My husband, mother in law, and myself watched THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in the theater and, about 40 minutes in, we stopped watching the movie and started watching the audience. (Watching the audience was way more interesting). When the most recent BW came out my son went to see it, and his review was as follows: "That was the most ignorant thing I've ever seen in my life. That's time from my life I can never get back. I spent fifteen dollars only to be given a lumbering, twitchy, Melvin of a baddie that turned into alien lights."
Andrea Burke I wish I had done the same thing. That movie gave me a headache.
The ending of Paranormal Activity scared me like I'd never been scared
before. I wanted just get up and leave the room because just turning
away and closing my eyes didn't even help. When Katie looks up at the
camera you feel her staring right at you, even when you look away.
Can't believe The Shining's most horrifying scene become a global success meme
Rosemary's Baby, Carrie, and The Shining are horror classics in my book.
Oh hell yes. Carrie will forever be a classic. And not Chloe Grace Moretz either.
Yo what about Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)? That final jumpscare took my soul
That part When the killer came out wearing the girl boyfriend's face had me like Yooooooooooooo no way!
I think that the first "Jeepers Creepers" should've been on this list
Omg why can I never resist the urge to click on a watchmojo video The second I see it?
😂
WATCH MOJO FOREVER
The church in The Omen they drive up to is Guildford Cathedral, which is the town I live in. Every time someone mentions that movie I'm like "DID YOU KNOW THAT CATHEDRAL IS IN MY TOWN" idk why. I guess because it's a small ish town in the UK and not many things are filmed here
Hi
Guildford is a small place? I thought it was popular, maybe i just happen to hear about it a lot
johnnycatt I mean it’s bigger than some other uk towns, I guess I think it’s small because I live here and it’s kinda boring, and many people I talk to haven’t heard of it aha.
@@jordanfurlonger oh i get it now, i think that happens with everywhere that isn't London or Brighton lol. I live in Portsmouth and no one i've talked to knows where it is
johnnycatt ah man I love Portsmouth. My aunt lives there, it’s so nice
I just started watching this video, and if you didn’t include Jeepers creepers’s ending, I don’t know what to say. That ending gave me nightmares when I watched it 3 years ago.
I remember when I was a kid the ending of burnt offerings creeped me out
Ufff.... i´m rly missin "Eden Lake" on that list :(
Not sure it's a well known enough movie in the USA. I would agree that the whole film is deeply unsettling though and the ending is quite unexpected
Really* missing*
Would highly recommend that to anyone who hasn’t heard of it too
0:09 *_The Giant Enemy Spider_*
I just watched like 1/4 of the movies you listed yesterday night
The bar scene in the shining is epic!
