  • Pastor Creflo Dollar is known for his greed and lavish lifestyle. However, he is now turning his back on tithing. It comes as a big surprise after he once asked his church members to fund millions for a private jet. Church leaders share their own stance on the practice.

      I think what he was trying to say, in everything we do we pay. Only when it comes to church people withhold their money. Tithing is a command from God, before the Law was established. In fact, before the Govt gave welfare and food stamps, it was the church that helped their community. Unfortunately, wolves in sheep's clothing, the false pastors and prophets that misuse and milk the ppl. I am a tither and I give cheerfully. BUT I also see where the money is going and no extravagant lifestyles of our Pastor either.

  • @StretchJED
    @StretchJED Před 2 lety +31

    An "offering" is different from a "tithe." Tithing is NOT synonymous with giving.
    Abraham may have given a tenth of the spoils of war, prior to the law, but he also made animal sacrifices before the law. Should we make animal sacrifices too?

      We don't make animal sacrifices anymore because Christ is the ultimate sacrifice to atone for our sins. Animals were used prior to the cross for atonement and because there was no form of currency.

      Abraham lived by the law according to scripture.

    • @StretchJED
      @StretchJED Před 2 lety +1

      @@UniquelyVickie I'm not sure where you're getting all this, scripturally speaking. I mean, I agree that Christ is the ultimate sacrifice for sins, but it is because He fulfilled the law, as He stated was His purpose in Matt. 5. The law pointed to Him. Col. 2:17 says that the law was the shadow of things to come, but not the substance. Christ was the substance, the reality that the shadows pointed to. He was its fulfillment. Otherwise we would need a very specific verse like "Now stop making animal sacrifices!" But it doesn't exist. We know those things are done away with because Christ fulfilled the law...all of it. Also, Paul tells us repeatedly in Romans chapters 6 and 7 that we are "free from the law," "have died to the law," and are "not under the law."
      As for there not being a form of currency, I would point to Genesis 37:28 where Joseph was "sold" for 20 pieces of silver. And in Gen. 23, Abraham bought a burial plot for Sarah for 400 shekels of silver. Both of these are money. They had money. They used money. Not only before the law, but even more so after the law was instituted. I encourage you to look further into this issue of tithing as it relates to the old and new covenants. The difference between old and new covenant can be a huge revelation for the believer. Blessings!

    • @StretchJED
      @StretchJED Před 2 lety +1

      @@elvisjonesjr3369 If you're referring to Gen. 26:5, it's helpful to understand that the word translated in some versions of that verse as "laws" doesn't exclusively refer to the law as delivered to Moses and the children of Israel. An additional meaning of the Hebrew term is "instructions" or "teachings" or some other such synonym. So it would be presumptuous for us to assume that God secretly (at least it isn't recorded in scripture) delivered the same "Law" to Abraham that he made a huge deal about delivering to Moses and Israel later on. It is much more plausible to assign this instance of the term the same meaning that the Hebrew word has in other instances where it isn't referring to the Law of Moses. You see, the Law of Moses had many commands in it relating to the tabernacle, which hadn't been created yet, among other things that simply didn't apply to Abraham. He literally wasn't able to obey so many of God's "laws" (if we're calling them laws in the Mosaic sense), simply by virtue of them pertaining to collective Israel and their tabernacle service, among other things. But if we render the Hebrew word in Gen. 26:5 as "instructions," as many translations do, it actually makes sense. Abraham did obey God's "instructions," even though he didn't have the Mosaic law and was therefore unable to obey the Mosaic law. Additionally, this lines up with other usages of the Hebrew word in contexts that are definitely not referring to Mosaic law. Blessings!

    Biblical, systematic tithes weren't gifts or offerings, they were compulsory submissions of consumable items specifically purposed towards the Levitical theocracy (who didn't own land), the poor (every 3 years) and for consumption and sharing at the festivals. There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages.

    A church that I was a member of put the tithe/offering box at the rear of the church, behind the last row of seats entering the sanctuary. Nobody guarded it.
    When it was time to give, everybody put their money in the slot on top.
    My point is many people don't give because of the shame that many churches put on people for not giving enough when the plate is passed.
    Did you ever noticed that when the plate is passed, many people have their dollars folded or crumpled because they don't want anybody to see what they put in. That's shame. We are supposed to be cheerful givers not shamed givers.

    22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
    23 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.
    24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:
    25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:
    26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

    I remind back in the 70’s and 80’s, pastors use to tell you to give what you can give to the church for tithing. But it’s hard for me to agree on giving money to these pastors who are living,eating and dressing better than myself. Not even religion is exempt from being used as an extortion tool. I’m not giving money to a church where the pastor is living in a million dollar home,wearing designer clothes, expensive jewelry,have their kids in the best private schools or taking expensive trips for vacation while my family and myself are living the opposite life. From Jim & Tammy Baker to TD Jake, I just can not support none of them when it comes to take. They all should have became politicians because they have the gift for gab.

    The only scripture where God allowed tithes to be exchanged for money was Deuteronomy 14:24-26. But at the place or time of payment, the tithe should still be foodstuffs.
    In Deuteronomy 14:24-26, God ordered that if the place to give the tithes was far, and to carry the foodstuffs was difficult, the tither should sell the tithes, which are foodstuffs, for money. But if the tither reached the place where the tithes were to be paid, he should turn the money back into tithes, that is, foodstuffs, once again, before he would give or pay it.
    In Leviticus 27:30, 32-34, God clearly specified the items He described as tithes, and His and holy unto Him.
    He said, “the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
    “He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

This we see in act of apostle..they willfully sold their properties and gave to God..even the poor were willing to give bcs of God's love..stop caging the simple to 10%..there is no such compulsion from God anymore.

    Nah fam... The church is not meant to be treated like a business. You shouldn't be compelled to do anything in God's kingdom, never that. God knows your capability and situation and no man can force you to go beyond your means... That's ungodly in my opinion. Don't you think there wouldn't be as many struggling people to feed if the church advised them to rather feed their family with that money and perhaps offer their skills to the church as a tithe... Rather focus on the expertise of the congregation (which are worth money) to service the needs of the community. That's love... The Word is here to guide us not convict us... Times have changed and so have we... What should remain constant are the virtues of love and understanding that God requires us to live by.
    I think what confuses me the most is why pastors are so fixated on living lavishly off the congregations contributions. If you have sponsors and side hustles then great! You earned it, go crazy. But it's not the congratulations job to give pastor's lavish lifestyles... Listen... Nowhere in the Bible do you see Jesus living in mansions, riding expensive camels and dripping in designer loin clothes... He was a simple man. He ate what people shared with him, if it was money then he accepted it... But the people he served usually gave him food or just a service (washing his feet). I feel like right now the church is all about things... That's why people just don't relate and connect as much as they yearn to. Trust and believe if you serve the community they will thank you. Some may even gift you with that mansion you've always driven past and spoken to God about. That gift wouldn't be compelled or forced... It would come out of gratitude and love. And trust me when I say when you change a person's life in a pure way, without expectations... God shows up and shows out like you can never believe. That's ministry to me. Anyways peace, love and understanding to everyone, God bless.

    Differences in the old testament and new testament. God commanded in the old testament to observe tithing (Malachi 3:10), circumcision (Genesis 17:10), sabbath day (Exodus 20:8-11), stoning to death (John 8:1-11).
    Why some ministries do not teach the practice of circumcision, sabbath day, and stoning to death but teach to practice tithing. Why are they very choosy on what to teach.
    In the new testament:
    >Jesus never sent anyone to death.
    >Jesus heals on the sabbath >Jesus never commanded his disciples to collect the tithes and offerings.
    >Giving is to the poor (Luke 19:8-9, Mark 10:21, Matthew 26:8-9, Acts 10:4).

    The question that every Believer should be asking GOD, "Is TRUTH being preached in its ENTIRETY?" as it concerns the messages/teachings Pastor Dollar is bringing forth at this time. It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the BELIEVER to ask this question if one is working out their OWN Salvation with fear and trembling. Having a "personal" relationship with God means you can go to Him for yourself to get the required answers that you need. ALL born-again Believers in Jesus Christ have access to God in this way. There DOES NOT need to be confusion about tithing at this time. If you are apprehensive to move in either way (to tithe or not to tithe) then you have the RESPONSIBILITY of seeking God for "clarity" in this area. Most of us know that God is NOT a God of confusion. That title belongs to Satan himself. It's BEST at this time to seek God's HELP on this matter. This DID NOT take God by surprise that this debate would be going on at this time. GOD is still in CONTROL and the Bible still remains the infallible word of God. It is TRUTH when it is RIGHTLY DIVIDED in TRUTH. This is a time where Christians should be seeking God for themselves and not allowing leaders to have full control over this area of their lives. Pastors, teachers etc. are gifts to the Body of Christ but they are NOT God Himself. They are fallible men and women who can "easily" make mistakes and we have to TRUST GOD in the "process" of correcting them. It appears that Pastor Dollar is going through a "process" of correction in his life. My prayer is that God's hand will stay upon him in ALL areas of his life and personal walk with God. While he moves through this "process" we as God's people are to keep our eyes FIXED on Jesus Christ and no other. This is an "individual" journey of faith and we must remember this. When we all stand before God, He is not going to ask you about Pastor Dollar's life (that's reserved for him ALONE), God will ask us about our OWN lives. God DOES NOT want His people to be tossed about by every wind of doctrine so it is the WISE COUNSEL of God to seek HIS face by using HIS WORD to get the TRUE biblical answer on tithing and other messages that Pastor Dollar has brought forth to correct.
    Humbly submitted, a child of God

    Creflow Dollar is not confusing. It is very clear that he is teaching that under grace you are not limited to giving 10% but in fact under grace you are led by the spirit of God to give from a cheerful heart♥️ Ultimately, if your heart is in the right place, you will be focused on pleasing God, and not man! If you believe this teaching is wrong, you may want to ask yourself why? Pastor Creflo did not say that you were supposed to stop supporting the church financially, he said that under grace we should be led by the Holy Spirit. This means that you need to have a personal relationship with the father in Heaven. God should be the one to lead you in all your giving because we are stewards over everything we have, including most importantly, our lives.
    There is no confusion coming from this teaching. There is a need however for maturity, and wisdom in the church.

    The church needs to stop saying right before offering time that you rob God and you are cursed. We would be cursed if we still lived under the law. But we live under the new covenant, because Christ came and died for our sins. Paul in his letters said nothing about a tenth. Read 2 Corinthians 9:6, says if you sow sparingly, you will reap sparingly. 2 Corinthians 9:7, says each person should give what is in their hearts and not to give reluctantly or out of pressure. As God loves a person that gives cheerfully. So these two individuals misunderstood what Creflo Dollar was saying. So no church should use Malachi 3:8-10, in order to scare or make you feel guilty in not giving. If so, the pastor is operating in the flesh. 🙄 Paul in his letters didn't include the tenth, because that was under the Jewish laws or the Mosaic Laws people!!!

    The church can survive with believers loving and sharing what they have with one another. The early believers did not survive on money but dependent on GOD and sharing what they have with one another! Jesus Christ never asked us for money, He told us to give to poor and share what we have with believers. And doing so, we give it to Him! Remember Jesus asked for them to show him the money when they asked Him about paying Taxes? He looked at the money and asked them, who’s head is on it ? And they said Caesar and He said give to Caesar what belong to him, and give GOD what belong to Him! I believe this is a true conviction of the HOLY SPIRIT, but the church of today will definitely fight against him.
