    Audi really benefits by your style of reviewing. By carefully examining the details, you really show which automakers care more about the durability of switches and surfaces, which can be so affected by wear and thus affect depreciation. I appreciate having this information before going to the dealerships, testing only the best candidate cars for my money and not wasting my time. Thanks' again Thomas, for your valuable reviews.

      +astrogen1960 I don't know how much that shows automakers care though. Everything in my sister's two Mercedes had that "top notch" feel when new, but everything has worn no better than anything in a Honda, maybe even worse because there are so many little things to break.. Also, my company car, a Volkwagen Golf, had seemingly impressive build quality, but now it shows plenty of wear and tear in it. Nothing broken, but plenty of wear as well as squeaks and rattles. I'm not arguing these vehicles have poor quality, but it's just that this "solid feel" and "attention to detail" we see is more for initial impression, which is important, but it doesn't necessarily translate to any long-term durability of interior. Ultimately, I think how long an interior holds up depends mostly on how well it is taken care of, not how solid the doors sound when closing or how tight panel gaps are.

    • @astrogen1960
      @astrogen1960 Před 8 lety +4

      +Frédéric That's unfortunate that happened and you make a good point. But I think better materials would hold up better than the subpar, given equivalent wear. I have washer/dryer at home that I was thinking about replacing with a more efficient new model, but when I compared the look, feel and mass of the switchgear, they are still much better then the new ones in the store . . and the old one is 35 years old and still working well.
      Thomas had mentioned that Audi puts a lot of engineering into their switches and materials, demonstrating the precision of the clicking when turning the dial; this detail does not seem to be stressed by most other automakers. You're right, it's not a perfect indicator of quality, but it shows that they do care about the minor details on their mid-level product, and, these days, that's pretty impressive. How they treat the engineering of the small things, usually can be reflected in how they design the bigger, more expensive parts of the car - at least that's a big factor in my personal basis for decision-making.

    Holy cow! I still cant believe how great is Thomas, not only he is on of the best non - bias reviewer, he is also listening to our wishes and reviews cars that we show interest in, and let me not forget that he takes his time to replay to every single comment, that's something you don't see nowadays, and lets not forget about the camera guy doing fantastic job and also music and montage is fabulous. So like you said how audi appreciates the details they put in their cars, thats how we also appreciate details and hard work you put in the videos. A+ cheers mate!

      +Alexander Michalik thank you so much! I am staying with the truth even if some people dont like to hear it. Autogefuehl is about honesty, not about telling you 'omfg this is best car ever so all automotive pr guys will like me'. I can understand you like leather in cars, but please consider the negative impact you give by that. High class faux leatherette or Alcantara will do just fine for your luxury approach. I bought 2 cars with leather seats myself in my life, but I would never do it again. Thanks again for the support from my ancestor's country :)

    Excellent review Thomas. The way you review cars makes you the best in the game! I have been following you now for the past few months and I'm going to continue to do so. I really like the attention to details and the way you show this in your reviews. Keep up the good work and keep showing us stuff other car reviewers don't care about like the lights around the USB connections. :)
    About the blue color on this new A4, as I haven't seen it in real life, is it very similar to the BMW Estoril Blue? Because that's a color I really fell in love with while test driving a BMW 320xd earlier this year. And I could really consider a blue A4 Avant if it has that "shock blue" effect. Because A4 is going to be a very common car here in Norway I would like mine to stand out.
    Also I would have liked to see a little bit more of the B&O sound system, as I am really considering it. Is it any good and worth the price?
    I found the old A4 boring, most because of the interior. But this new one has the best interior in the segment and is my favorite by far! Thanks for a great review. :)

    Anyone knows which year Audi will upgrade the A6? Looking at this A4, an entry level car but it is really well designed, bright interior and nice simplicity.

    Look at young Thomas in a suit, very good looking and classic, like an Audi! :) Hey Thomas, great review as always, I know this one is a bit old but I am looking currently at an Audi A4 2018 S-Line 2.0T Quattro with black optics, I really wish Audi would've separated the Engine from the Transmission sport mode, you can't just have the crispier acceleration without the DSG staying in high RPMs, I must invest in a DTE PedalBox then. :) Take care!

    Nice review Thomas!
    I really like the interior, like most all Audi interiors. I am sure that it utilizes top quality materials with solidity. I would add some real material separation inside the gauge cluster however, so it doesn't look so much like a video game screen. I admit that the Mercedes C-Class is more impressive overall in design and materials.
    As for the exterior, I am disappointed that Audi was not as brave with the design. This is truly nothing more than a minor evolution of the 2009 B8 externally. I must add that the recent C-Class's exterior is very 2009 A4 B8 also, strangely, unfortunately. Our 2011 was a nice change from our 2006 A4, but this 2016 would not move the needle for us and certainly would not excite us. I do like the new headlights and tail lights however. Audi should have moved closer to the Prologue concept's more adventurous design language. For now Audi, you bore us, so we will stay with Volvo and consider others for our next purchase. Ciao!

    Audis are very well built ,I have a 2008 S3 and a Toyota Kluger rear ended me with minimal damage ,but worse outcome on the Toyota and also I have hit 3 Kangaroos on my way to work with the last one I was doing 80 kmh when it just caught my eye at the shoulder of the road and it jumped right in front and hit my left front and landed on my hood .The only damage was the LH headlight was pushed back about a centimeter and I was able to fix it quite easily. No one could tell I had hit a Roo apart from some fur stuck on the front side panel and on the hood.

    • @jwj500
      @jwj500 Před 8 lety +3

      Don't know why you said that. My two A4's have been great with one having 275K on it. My A6 has been the most dependable car I've ever had with 136K miles on it. I also have a TT, (wife's) that only has 45K and also has been good, (except Audi replaced coil packs). What evidence do you have that this new A4 will be hard to maintain?

    • @WhiteSlift
      @WhiteSlift Před 8 lety +1

      Well, first of all: Spare part prices. One of these Matrix LED units costs about 2,000 Euros. In 10 or 15 years when your A4 will only be worth 10,000 Euros or so, you'll have to pay 20% of the whole car's worth if your headlight fails. Or the climate control touch pad thindy. I don't even wanna know what that thing costs to replace.

    • @jwj500
      @jwj500 Před 8 lety +3

      +WhiteSlift You could say this about any high end vehicle. However, you have no concrete proof any of this will happen.

    • @WhiteSlift
      @WhiteSlift Před 8 lety

      John Jerrehian
      No concrete proof that one of the LED's will ever go out? Or perhaps you hit a pole if you don't pay attention. Both could certainly happen. Some older premium cars (BMW E90 for example) still have Halogen headlights, which is kinda nice.

    • @jwj500
      @jwj500 Před 8 lety +1

      +WhiteSlift Was talking about the overall maintenance you initially wrote.
      However, my wife's TT is 5 years old and no issues with the LED's yet. Plus in 10 years we will be using Laser lights or something else and LED's will be cheap.?
