Audi really benefits by your style of reviewing. By carefully examining the details, you really show which automakers care more about the durability of switches and surfaces, which can be so affected by wear and thus affect depreciation. I appreciate having this information before going to the dealerships, testing only the best candidate cars for my money and not wasting my time. Thanks' again Thomas, for your valuable reviews.
+astrogen1960 appreciated m8 !
+astrogen1960 I don't know how much that shows automakers care though. Everything in my sister's two Mercedes had that "top notch" feel when new, but everything has worn no better than anything in a Honda, maybe even worse because there are so many little things to break.. Also, my company car, a Volkwagen Golf, had seemingly impressive build quality, but now it shows plenty of wear and tear in it. Nothing broken, but plenty of wear as well as squeaks and rattles. I'm not arguing these vehicles have poor quality, but it's just that this "solid feel" and "attention to detail" we see is more for initial impression, which is important, but it doesn't necessarily translate to any long-term durability of interior. Ultimately, I think how long an interior holds up depends mostly on how well it is taken care of, not how solid the doors sound when closing or how tight panel gaps are.
+Frédéric That's unfortunate that happened and you make a good point. But I think better materials would hold up better than the subpar, given equivalent wear. I have washer/dryer at home that I was thinking about replacing with a more efficient new model, but when I compared the look, feel and mass of the switchgear, they are still much better then the new ones in the store . . and the old one is 35 years old and still working well.
Thomas had mentioned that Audi puts a lot of engineering into their switches and materials, demonstrating the precision of the clicking when turning the dial; this detail does not seem to be stressed by most other automakers. You're right, it's not a perfect indicator of quality, but it shows that they do care about the minor details on their mid-level product, and, these days, that's pretty impressive. How they treat the engineering of the small things, usually can be reflected in how they design the bigger, more expensive parts of the car - at least that's a big factor in my personal basis for decision-making.
+astrogen1960 Thats how they trick it. Give it 8 months and everything will start rattling.
My 2013 285k km a3 is still perfect inside. But new models such as a1, q3 and a5 seem much lower in quality. I keep.the a3.
Holy cow! I still cant believe how great is Thomas, not only he is on of the best non - bias reviewer, he is also listening to our wishes and reviews cars that we show interest in, and let me not forget that he takes his time to replay to every single comment, that's something you don't see nowadays, and lets not forget about the camera guy doing fantastic job and also music and montage is fabulous. So like you said how audi appreciates the details they put in their cars, thats how we also appreciate details and hard work you put in the videos. A+ cheers mate!
+1212121 21 love to hear that! I dont know what I would do without you guys!
Deine Reviews sind bei weitem die besten Thomas. Balanciert zwischen Lob und Kritik und detailiert. Man kann mit deinen Reviews eine gute Wahl treffen was man haben will. Weiter so!
Vielen Dank !!
Thomas your reviews should become the standard of car reviews. Simple but powerful content. Appreciate all the hard work that you guys put in it. i am worried that one day you guys wont do anymore reviews. Just too good. Audi is stunning.
+Yipwong Suen thanks! Indeed it is very hard to keep us this pace and quality with a small budget. So we need any support we can get - spread the word for us! :)
I like that he always mentions his stance against using leather materials/seats. Pretty cool for a reviewer to stand by that. :D
+sajikun101 thanks for the support! Indeed I have to endure a lot of criticism for that - but even more support. And it is the least thing I can do to help the voiceless!
one of the most accurate and professional review ever seen, from a very handsome reviewer that seems to know cars better than manufacturers actuallt. Congrats!
+Alek Kaçulini thanks!! join us for more reviews!
Today is my first encounter with Thomas and Autogefuhl. The standard of content and presentation is excellent. Very enjoyable and informative for those interested in the reality of motoring in the real world. Something that, over the years, Top Gear in UK has lost.
My review of this review .......Das ist wunderbar!
+Paul Higgins Thanks Paul! I hope you ll enjoy more of our videos Full HD Fullscreen and Full time :)
Thomas is the best car reviewer on CZcams! Keep up the good work!
+alex180384 thanks Alex!
Thomas the great providing me with the best of reviews! Damn i cant die without having an audi at least once in my life, very beautiful car, thanks for the reviews collegue :)
+wiwi sharp thanks! Well their compact models are quite well reachable and already offer a lot of the general features :)
+Autogefühl German producers have really stepped up their game, the difference in quality is outstanding! i cant wait for all the next 2016 model reviews!
What a calm and composed review! Love your work!
+Nawaz Ali love ur comments !
Such a nice review. I love how much of time you spend in discussing the design minutiae.
I don't know of any one else who does this detailed a review of car design. Very well done and keep it up. I enjoy watching these.
+Lakshmanan Venkatesan highly appreciated, hope to see you at more of our reviews!
Been waiting for this for ages!
Excellent review! Loved the S4 review as well and can't wait until you do another B9 S4 video. Audi has set the benchmark again. Thank you Thomas
+ctrent859 yeah S4 will be terrific!
Great review as always Thomas! Beautiful color combination interior/exterior, enjoyed watching this! Thx
Finally, Thomas, i've waited for this review)
+Johny Shutoff (y)
Excellent, i've been waiting for this review! Great work as usual, Thomas.
+lettersfromtheleft thanks buddy!
I'm mesmerized by that beautifully built interior.
Another great review Thomas. As for the new A4, I love it. A 252hp S-Line is all the car I'd ever need.
+John Taylor for sure! thanks!
Thank you for a great look at this car. I'm thinking of ordering an A4 Avant very soon, and this has certainly increased my enthusiasm for it even more.
+Jonathan Oakey Full review of the Avant is coming up in the next days !!
I love how consistent you are Thomas with your 'hatred' on leather in cars :) I'm sorry to say that I love having that in my car but still, your consistency is quite impressive. Also, I freaking love your reviews - if I want to know absolutely everything about some given car, I always go and visit your channel. Greetings from Poland & US, keep it up bro
+Alexander Michalik thank you so much! I am staying with the truth even if some people dont like to hear it. Autogefuehl is about honesty, not about telling you 'omfg this is best car ever so all automotive pr guys will like me'. I can understand you like leather in cars, but please consider the negative impact you give by that. High class faux leatherette or Alcantara will do just fine for your luxury approach. I bought 2 cars with leather seats myself in my life, but I would never do it again. Thanks again for the support from my ancestor's country :)
I'm starting to think you are teleporting from country to country lol you guys are always there when new cars are launching no matter which country!
+Kobbetop you are right, thats how we do it :)
i always enjoy these reviews, very thorough, and very nice suit you have on.
+Alexander Senna =) thanks
Outstanding presentation!
I enjoy your reviews very much.
+lekkousa appreciated !
I got 2018 Quattro manual gearbox 2.0T couple weeks ago. I couldn’t be happier.
Good review! Good news that Audi has totally overhauled the interior, and most important the dashboard. As Thomas said, both the quality and design are outstanding. Looking forward to test drive it next year.
Great review! Looking forward to the S4 review.
Great review Thomas ! & good that you have explained MLB too.
+Arsalan Baig thanks brother!
+Autogefühl anytime ! :)
Great review as usual
lovely car!!!
Keep up the good work
Saeed
+Saeed Anwar thanks saeed!
yeah really like this audi much nicer than older one beautiful color too.
I absolutely love this new a4 Audi has always been my fav car the looks are spectacular the amount of safety features Is amazing I love the turn signals aswell I ned to get 1 of them
I really like the new center dashboard and the virtual cockpit, everything is neatly played out and very subtle. Not to mention the smooth animation on the screen thanks to a powerful NVidia GPU.
Looking good Thomas and a great video. Love Audi.
+D Lynch thanks buddy!
wow, for the compact luxury market that is a seriously impressive cabin.
just gorgeous. combined with all the tech it would make for a very lovely driving experience
A real high quality review Thomas! Really enjoyed it as always. The A4 is truly a beautiful piece of design and quality. Keep up the fantastic videos! Grüsse aus Island :)
+jonnybk hej hej, thanks and best regards to that beautiful place. I checked it out this summer :)
thanks. wow nice to hear, did you come for business or on holiday? you should have come to me at Europcar for a free upgrade on your rental car ;)
+jonnybk ha! Actually we had Europcar at Isafjördur - or whats your station?
Mine was at the domestic airport in Reykjavik. But I've started school so I'm not working there anymore. Funny that you actually chose us haha. By the way will there be a Porsche Macan review at some point soon?
An excellent detailed review, I found it more informative than the reviews given by the few UK car journalists I have watched. Germanic review much like the car!
+Pritesh Chauhan appreciated !
Great info as usual!
what a beautiful car, especially the interior, and makes me looking forward to the new designs of a6/a7 and a8 in the near future. btw, thanks for doing a review under the rain thomas. your glasses are all wet.
Thanks for another great review Thomas. I have been planing to buy a new car this year and now you have just given be another car to think about. Too many good cars this year. I will be going to the N.A.I.A.S. next week and will be checking out several of the cars you have recently reviewed. Just keep up the good work!
+james mccool hehe yeah plenty of choices =) thanks james!
Wellcome in Italy, great review :-D
+Marco Bertona mille grazie!
This man loves his cars. picking up my new A4 252 on Thursday.
Brilliant review, thanks!
+Schises thanks! Also check out the estate review! czcams.com/video/M_BU8gT5KCg/video.html
And A4 Allroad review will follow this evening!
Thank you Thomas. Another great test and, for once, this is an Audi I will consider when replacing my BMW 428 GC.
appreciated!
The perfect car, an excellent view of the car, go ahead Tomas you're the best :)
+Milan Ferrari go ahead with your comments! :)
Nice review, it looks lije your camera man gor improved. Good detailing on usb slots, maybe you should have told us more about the middle armrest part.
Cool. Very nice review. thx
+Boris M thanks !
1st class review like usual
+Suberakan Xavier thanks !
The tech in this car blows my mind.
Great review
+Choppa 101 thx!
Looks absolutely fantastic on the inside! However, the Mercedes C klasse looks better on the outside. The A4 is a bit boring, the C class really looks stunning. Good to see that Audi is back in the race!
+David van der Zande Its all about personal taste .
+David van der Zande I agree. Mercedes designers make their cars more attractive. I am seriously considering buying a second Audi in my life and that is certainly not for the looks but for exceeding the expectations behind the wheel.
+David van der Zande I agree that Mercedes looks smarter outside but I select cars based on how smart the driver looks inside. Especially now when roads get at their worst in Finland.
+David van der Zande Not with this model m8. The outside is plain hideous, and boring as a stony beach on winter overcast day
lol just got the A4, this is the best review Ive seen mostly due to the accent.
appreciated, join us for more !
Thomas, I just took a 3 year lease on the 2017 A4 Premium Plus S line. It's a great car. Lively, beautiful, comfortable, quite and has great performance. I get better gas mileage in the city than I did on the road with my trade in, 2011 Jaguar XF Premium. Who knows, maybe I am becoming an Audi guy.
+james mccool sounds cool!
awesome review like always guys ..only I wish your channel name were a bit easier I can't even pronounce it LOL
+blocksterz haha =) Just listen, I pronounce it every time :)
+Autogefühl haha and they say Finnish is hard lol ..ok I will ..say thanks to all your staff :)
+blocksterz thanks =)
Hi Thomas, just saw the A4 in the flesh at the Singapore Motorshow, the interior is seriously beautiful, as per my previous feedback on the body design, it actually looks alot nicer in reality, very cleancut design.
+jan singh thanks for the feedback! indeed it is :)
+Autogefühl .....Agreed with Thomas, a beautifully design and built car, here they are selling the 1.4 TFSI S tronic version.
thanks it's really great car appreciate ur work regards.
+mahmoud raheel thanks mahmoud !
Good review as always! I know you like blue cars, it's not my favorite colour but this one looks really, really good! ☺
+Angus MacGyver =)
Great review and a lot of details as always. I love it!
I would like to have a bit more space in your reviews to driving experience. I haven't found how the quattro transmission work and how the car react if pushed to it's limit (under-over steer....). I'm not interested in track driving, but I'd love to have more comments related to sporty driving on curvy roads.
Keep doing the great job you are doing.
Thanks.
+Vittore Tognetti thanks! Will do that in the next review
+Autogefühl that's great. Thanks Thomas. Look forward to next reviews (e.g. Skoda Octavia RS Tdi Quattro!!).
+Vittore Tognetti Trying to get the RS230 for you as well
Excellent review Thomas. The way you review cars makes you the best in the game! I have been following you now for the past few months and I'm going to continue to do so. I really like the attention to details and the way you show this in your reviews. Keep up the good work and keep showing us stuff other car reviewers don't care about like the lights around the USB connections. :)
About the blue color on this new A4, as I haven't seen it in real life, is it very similar to the BMW Estoril Blue? Because that's a color I really fell in love with while test driving a BMW 320xd earlier this year. And I could really consider a blue A4 Avant if it has that "shock blue" effect. Because A4 is going to be a very common car here in Norway I would like mine to stand out.
Also I would have liked to see a little bit more of the B&O sound system, as I am really considering it. Is it any good and worth the price?
I found the old A4 boring, most because of the interior. But this new one has the best interior in the segment and is my favorite by far! Thanks for a great review. :)
Thomas thanks for the excellent review, as you always do! Is there a chance that the TDI version of the A4 will be released here in the US?
+Rahul Verma Thanks! Good question. I think they are figuring that out right now
Hope you're doing an in depth session on the new A4 allroad Quatro as well, since that's the only estate wagon we're going to get in the USA.
Got some here: czcams.com/video/e_TH7xRuiRI/video.html
The details in the car are outstanding. This is really 'german perfection'.
Which is best selling in the a4, 3 series segment? Great review and videography, btw.
beautiful !une AUDI de qualité et d'esthétisme ., une belle réussite !
Great review! I loved the steering wheel and center console. However exterior design remains too conservative special in the sides. How do you compare driving dynamics with a 328i?
+Bruno Andrade thanks! Driving dynamics is really great on the A4. Havent driven the most recent 3series so cannot tell. But the A4 is surely not a boring car anymore
The car looks really spacious inside.
+Владимир Иванов it is!
I love all your reviews. When will you get to test drive the audi S4? I wanted to know why audi switch to a zf8 speed auto. They kept it on the s6 and s7 which has more torque.
+quinyboties Good question, somewhat next year! About the transmissions: They are using the dual clutch transmission s-tronic here as well, just not for the 3.0 TDI. Must be Diesel thing as they indeed go for the converter auto gear box with petrols 'later' in hp range
I cant wait for mine in april im in Canada.
+Dany Savard haha me too im in England.
amazing once again! not sunny but i guess the pasta was al dente? lol
+1111italia1111 haha =) Yeah really love italian food!
nice
Realy nice car
Hi, great video. Do you recommend the adaptive sport or comfort suspension, or even the standard suspension?
+politcally correct Hi! Thanks! Even the standard suspension will be just fine. If you want to spend more money, then I d go for the comfort suspension, you have more use of that in every day driving
Anyone knows which year Audi will upgrade the A6? Looking at this A4, an entry level car but it is really well designed, bright interior and nice simplicity.
Look at young Thomas in a suit, very good looking and classic, like an Audi! :) Hey Thomas, great review as always, I know this one is a bit old but I am looking currently at an Audi A4 2018 S-Line 2.0T Quattro with black optics, I really wish Audi would've separated the Engine from the Transmission sport mode, you can't just have the crispier acceleration without the DSG staying in high RPMs, I must invest in a DTE PedalBox then. :) Take care!
U did not show spare wheel? Is there one?
is the s4 ground clearance any less than then a4?
How is the FWD 252 HP variant versus the quattro one?
Stability, performance and driving
Great attention to details! Thanks for the video!
Nice review Thomas!
I really like the interior, like most all Audi interiors. I am sure that it utilizes top quality materials with solidity. I would add some real material separation inside the gauge cluster however, so it doesn't look so much like a video game screen. I admit that the Mercedes C-Class is more impressive overall in design and materials.
As for the exterior, I am disappointed that Audi was not as brave with the design. This is truly nothing more than a minor evolution of the 2009 B8 externally. I must add that the recent C-Class's exterior is very 2009 A4 B8 also, strangely, unfortunately. Our 2011 was a nice change from our 2006 A4, but this 2016 would not move the needle for us and certainly would not excite us. I do like the new headlights and tail lights however. Audi should have moved closer to the Prologue concept's more adventurous design language. For now Audi, you bore us, so we will stay with Volvo and consider others for our next purchase. Ciao!
Great review for a great car. I`m thinking very seriously about buying the Avant. Even though it`s just as expensive as a Merc GLC. I`m 1,96m tall so I should go for the SUV, but still my heart says A4 Avant...
+Vladimir Teleoaca avant review will be coming up in a couple of weeks!
You promised us an opinion video on volkswagen diesel scandal. I just hope you have not forgotten about us, Thomas.
+Adrian Olteanu ofc not - we have just finished shooting the statement and it will be uploading quite soon
Nice job! Can't wait to see it.
Thomas! I am just curious why 50fps is not available in this video?
+Ivan Delos Santos Hey, sorry, that was filmed with another camera
Interior looks great! Couldn't be better, however exterior wise, I think the new Merc C-class looks better.
What is your opinion?
Is Consumer's Report rating Audi at number 3 accurate? Is Audi decently reliable now?
Wie gehts Thomas :) Love your reviews, I'm thinking of buying A5 2016, but I really like the A4 design, and I'm guessing the A5 2017 will get the same makeover. Wait or buy now?
+Studio Edin Depends on the offer I would say. Some old A5 are now HIGHLY discounted!
5.8sec 0-100 for automatic gearbox, quattro drive and just 2.0 liter GAS engine is pretty fast, moreover the consumption stated (city) is just 7,4L/100km
I paid $45,000 for my Acura TLX, and it honestly looks like such crap compared to this. I'm 100% selling my crap Acura for this.
+Panthers1521 Get an A8 L
Jai Rajbans Ha. 100k+ car. Maybe one day. This A4 is more than enough
Panthers1521 Maybe a used one??
Nice review! But why are there two different cars used?? For example 18:23: look at the rims and the front bumber with its chromeparts... and then18:42: it changed... other rims and an other front bumper...
+David Altus That happens on events that you dont have the same vehicle available all the time
Very meticulous review Thomas. I presently own an A4 avant but alas, they have killed the avant and manual transmission for Canada so this car would never be on my list of options. There have been some rumblings about the A5 sportback coming to NA though. I'm wondering if you have heard anything about it's redesign? Thanks Thomas!
+kevin n Thanks! Sorry dont have any specific info on the Canadian market
+Autogefühl Sorry Thomas, I was wondering if you have information about when the A5 sportback will see a redesign. Thanks!
It seems that Audi hired som British interior designer, because i have never seem so much attention on details in any other Audi's models, even the biggest and most expensive ones. That is quite an important step from Audi.
Is this scuba blue ?
Question, the interior you are showing is a standard A4 not an sline correct?
+boxterduke s-line exterior, but not interior. But high trim level interior. Not really standard. But it doenst look much different. Leather seats suck anyway and then you have standard aluminium cover on the dash which looks good and just 200 euros extra for the nice wood.
My first ever Autogefühl video !
Does enterior build Audi or Faurecia? Great review and great car.
+Esad Cosovic Faurecia, check our S4 video linked in the video description for more info on that!
Thnx
Hi Thomas. How about testing the Audi a3 limousine ? I will be looking forward to your feedback. Best regards Mads - Denmark
+Mads Madsen Hey Mads, we do have a A3 Cabriolet and RS3 Hatch review - seen that one already ?
hi, yes and it was great reviews both of them :) it is because I am thinking of buying a limousine version.
Please review the Subaru Forester 2.0 xt thank you
+Aaron Teh Tze Loong Hi, next Subaru in line for us will be the new Levorg!
Why dont you make Citroen C5 review with Hydractive suspension? :D
Ciao Thomas. Complimenti! Wonderful review.
Looks like Bassano del Grappa, your location? My family lives nearby at the foot of the mini Dolomites.
Ah, I hope you had your caffé "corretto"! ☕️🇮🇹 a little grappa opens up the sinuses....
I've always liked the A4 and it's even better than before.
Have you seen the Axalta Global Automotive Colour Popularity Report ??? Your blue is becoming popular in Europe - more than any other region!
Interesting stats.
Too bad about the 130kph limit on the Autostrada. Officially of course!
130 km/h?! :O Didn't Italy have 180 km/h on the Autostrada some years ago?
+Angus MacGyver max speed was dropped a number of years back in an attempt to reduce fatalities. More € in "multe" also, naturally...
+Mario Dalla Riva Ciao! Actually that was Conte Collalto, so close by :) Interesting with the blue! I just knew that Silver, grey and black were still dominating
Audis are very well built ,I have a 2008 S3 and a Toyota Kluger rear ended me with minimal damage ,but worse outcome on the Toyota and also I have hit 3 Kangaroos on my way to work with the last one I was doing 80 kmh when it just caught my eye at the shoulder of the road and it jumped right in front and hit my left front and landed on my hood .The only damage was the LH headlight was pushed back about a centimeter and I was able to fix it quite easily. No one could tell I had hit a Roo apart from some fur stuck on the front side panel and on the hood.
woah bro, kangaroos? Sure dont have that problem where i live! Haha
I believe this car is the best of its class in year 2016.
+Dhanabol Pradipdham it is, overall - but of course it is rather expensive... so its not the best in price/performance :)
This car is gonna be a hell to maintain once it's 10 years old and out of warranty.
Don't know why you said that. My two A4's have been great with one having 275K on it. My A6 has been the most dependable car I've ever had with 136K miles on it. I also have a TT, (wife's) that only has 45K and also has been good, (except Audi replaced coil packs). What evidence do you have that this new A4 will be hard to maintain?
Well, first of all: Spare part prices. One of these Matrix LED units costs about 2,000 Euros. In 10 or 15 years when your A4 will only be worth 10,000 Euros or so, you'll have to pay 20% of the whole car's worth if your headlight fails. Or the climate control touch pad thindy. I don't even wanna know what that thing costs to replace.
+WhiteSlift You could say this about any high end vehicle. However, you have no concrete proof any of this will happen.
John Jerrehian
No concrete proof that one of the LED's will ever go out? Or perhaps you hit a pole if you don't pay attention. Both could certainly happen. Some older premium cars (BMW E90 for example) still have Halogen headlights, which is kinda nice.
+WhiteSlift Was talking about the overall maintenance you initially wrote.
However, my wife's TT is 5 years old and no issues with the LED's yet. Plus in 10 years we will be using Laser lights or something else and LED's will be cheap.?
What’s best color for Audi A4 ?
this blue :)
Can you compare the new Audi A4 with the new Skoda Superb and VW Passat?
+hn999 tough one. I ll see what i can do :)
