    Thank you Thomas a great review as always as you. However, the hood has no gas struts which is very odd for such a version. Probably they might have forgotten to pick it. In addition, no plastic covers for the interior side of window frames of the doors which is odd too. Moreover, there is no doubt that MB is the master of ultra fine details but I find the upper part of the dashboard though it is covered by artificial leather but it is hard when you press on it unlike BMW. I experienced that in many MB classes and I can tell that this car is no exception through the sound emitted when you patted on it.

    A45 is just unreachable for the competition. It's just incredible how it thrusts forward like a rocket surrounded by rallye car-like sounds. It's got only 100hp less than the C 63 which bears somehow the sum of two A45 motors in one. Interior however looked dated from the start and small details aren't up to the sticker price let alone MB's aura.
    Ps: Oh and I love that green color wtf. It's refreshing and a big change from the usual grey-white-blue theme we see all over the place, eventhough it's my favorite hues. Another taste flaw on this car (A45) is that you are forced to get flashy red seat belts with classy beige, black or brown leather interior yet you can withdraw that option on AMG themed configurations which display a lot of red accents: utter nonsense...

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 9 lety +1

      +Ted McScorcher The C63 is actually not really faster in acceleration, that's really interesting :) A45: 4,2 C63: 4,1 sec 0-100 :)

      +Autogefühl In Reality I was devastated by a C63S against mine (pre-facelift though) CLA 45. Not only did it leave me behind from a standing start (at traffic lights) but also on the Autobahn from a rolling start at 80 km/h. When I reached my Vmax of 260 the C63S was already so far ahead that I could barely see it anymore.

    • @Tednessful
      @Tednessful Před 9 lety

      Well, that's a 150hp difference instead of 100hp regarding the facelifted A45 vs the C63 and of course only in 0-60 measurements thanks to the AWD on the A-Class. As soon as both are in motion the V8 takes over in a blink.

    What a great review! Glad i found this channel! Personally i'm very happy with my experince with the 2016 a180 facelift. The LED headlights look and perform great! Also, i personally do not think that the build quality in this car is low, completely the oposite in my opinion. I've experinced many Mercedes models in the past, and of course you cannot compare this vehicle with more expensive models in the lineup (lets say the C-class). Overall this car is great for everyday driving and in the city due to its small size.

    Since 2013, Mercedes owned and really became the best all round car manufacturer. They are also the best looking cars you can buy... Yes Audi's Quattro system is the best, however AMG are almost there with that also. Technology wise, the S class puts every other car to shame, including Tesla.

      So MB have this IMBAS program where you can pick up the car yourself in Stuttgart. I wonder if there is a IMBAU program for those getting their A-class from the factory in Uusikaupunki :D I guess not.

      +Kobbetop Its very interesting because thats not a Daimler plant but Valmet Automotive contract work. Hi Thomas,
    Excellent very detailed reviews! Looks like you were having a blast at the track.
    I like the A-class very much. We don't see this model in Canada I think. We have the B-250 however for a while now.
    The interiors look very appealing. How d o you find the gear select stalk?? I fear I'd be changing gears as soon as I would reach for the windshield wipers!!
    Matte finish? Nice but never in a million years.
    The green? Yikes. Makes me feel queasy...
    I loved the sound of the AMG45. Pretty outrageous Power for such a small car.
    A friend in northern Italy bought an A-class a couple of years back and they're very pleased with it.
    Some great scenery in your footage.
    Ciao! Btw I saw all your coverage from Frankfurt.. You were a busy guy!! Hopefully this video was done before the IAA
    So can get some rest, no?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 9 lety

      +Mario Dalla Riva Thanks Mario! Indeed the Northern American market is still a blank area for the A-Class hatch. The car you would get is the CLA then - thats the sedan version of it. That gear select stalk for the non-AMG-versions is typical American. They build that column for the American customers - too funny that they also include it in a car that is NOT available there :) This video was indeed filmed Fr/Sat after the IAA, means 2 days ago - we usually try to deliver you the stuff ASAP ! Rest: hardly ever possible, trying our best to deliver you the best stuff here! :)

    Hi, Autogefühl team. I don't know if you guys can make this happen, but im gonna ask any way. When you guys are showing the interior, could you put the car in a dark garage or film a small portion of the interior shot at night - to show how the interior dials and knobs light up, or don't light up, at night. Please also show reading lights and any lights along the door seals.Also please show how the exterior lights "behave". This would be greatly appreciated. I love your in-depth reviews, otherwise. From what I can see, the change in sound when changing form sport to comfort or vice versa is because of the change in the idle rpm. In comfort mode the idle is below 1000 rpm. But when you change it to sport, it raises above 1000. This is evident at 16:55 and 25:36. It's the first time I see a stock car do this lol

  • @Mishaye
    @Mishaye Před 9 lety

    Thanks for the review! Been looking forward to this one, and I really appreciate you testing so many variants.Still looking for that perfect (for me) AWD compact, and this have answered a lot of questions even if you didn't really get to test the AWD. The A-class ticks a lot of boxes, but it's definitely on the expensive side (especially with that minefield of optional extras that are oh so tempting).
    Those AMG packages look nice for exterior and interior looks (would almost get it for that steering wheel alone), but I'm a bit concerned about the lowered suspension they include. The roads here can be... variable in quality and flatness and too low suspension could be problematic, especially in the winter. The GLA could be more practical, but I prefer the looks of the A-class and would rather have that if I could get away with it (my current "normal" height hatch have no issues). Do you (or anyone else) happen to know what the standard ride height is for the A-class? It's surprisingly hard to find information on that.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 9 lety

      +0ddj0n Well I didnt make a big subject of the AWD. But the AMG of course has AWD (I did say that on the racetrack) as it couldnt get the power to the ground other wise. And actually the other ones were also AWD... you dont really need it, but its also not bad ;) I know that the sport suspensions are like 10-15 mm lower

    • @Mishaye
      @Mishaye Před 9 lety

      +Autogefühl Yea, I was surprised to see that 4MATIC emblem on the back of the normal A-class! Most reviews I've watched have been using the non-AWD ones. And yes, it's not needed, but especially in winter (which we got a lot of up here) there are some situations where it's nice to have even with studded winter tires equipped. Most here go for SUVs with AWD, but I'd like something different :)
      Also, 10-15mm doesn't seem so bad no matter what the normal height is. I could probably get away with that.

    You present alot of Mercedes lately. What I don't like at such a car is the speedometer - due to the fact that it is scaled for high speeds, it is dificult to read at normal real-life speeds like 50km/h. Regarding the smartphone conevtivity, is it possible for phones with Android or only Apple products? When you first apeared on screen with the halmet on, I think you should have used the Star Wars music, if you know what I mean. My last point is that from a gray-silver car and a green car, the best was the car with both colors.

    Hey Thomas, great review. I really wish we had the 5 door in the US. I absolutely don't like the styling of the droopy butt 4 door sedan. I wish we had more hatchbacks here, but Americans just won't buy them.
    Also, and I know this has nothing to do with the review, but I was curious to know what you think or have heard about the problems VW is having in the US over emissions testing. It's a pretty serious issue, and it may get even uglier. What's being said in the German media?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 9 lety

      +Quinton hey, thanks! Yeah it is sad that the manufacturers still dont bring a lot of cars to the US market. About VW: I am pretty sure that they are not the only one that did that. It's not great what they did, but seriously, there are way bigger problems society is facing. My very personal opinion is: Who cares about some official exhaust figures while the majority of people would still buy totally non-eco-friendly cars and put more CO2 and stuff into the air by their eating behaviour than their car driving could ever create. German media is of course reporting what is happening, but very objectively, just the facts, so far.

    • @musclerent
      @musclerent Před 9 lety

      +Autogefühl The fact VW engineered a programme into the ECU to falsify emission testing results is very serious. The ECU recognising the car was being tested reduced certain parameters making the car look cleaner than it was, after testing emissions rose by up 40%. apart from it being a trust issue and damaging the brand the cost to the VW group will run into billions of Dollars in recall costs and damages. Each offending car in the US will result in VW being fined $37,500 so with 482,000 cars possibly effected the cost could rise to $18 billion and the Audi A3 is effected too. If cars are found to be effected in Europe or anywhere else as well VW may need some financial support and there is the possibility of being sued by other manufacturers...The German government is a shareholder. The idea that other manufacturers are engineering their cars to evade the rules isn't very likely but would be treated in the same way.

      @sergevivier956 Před 9 lety

      +musclerent GM must be really happy now as the VW troubles are distracting everyone from GM ignitions that KILLED hundreds of people and injured thousand. What VW did is bad in my view because it lied about their CLEAN diesel technology but nobody died. VW shared dropped 20% this morning and this could be the end of VW in the US. Is that what the EPA wants because no GM executives have gone to jail right?

    • @musclerent
      @musclerent Před 9 lety

      +serge vivier I think many manufacturers will be happy. Yes VW didn't kill anyone and I don't think GM killed hundreds but this is serious because VW went to great lengths to cheat and countries have signed up to reducing emissions. Did VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda lie to the rest of the world as well?, we'll find out, but either way this is a mess and one that will cost $ billions.

    • @musclerent
      @musclerent Před 9 lety

      +serge vivier I should point out there is a major difference between VW and GM's problems. GM suffered through faulty components bought in from a parts supplier and people did die. VW group went out of their way to engineer their cars to deceive emission testing and cheat to gain a competitive advantage over other manufacturers...VW deliberately did this!.

    Unfortunately, the interior quality is still very poor, especially in the lower area. I mean REALLY POOR!!! Like poor. The VW Golf looks like it`s in a completely superior class, and that at around 7000E less. And with a comparable option list the A-Classe can get to more than 15.000E compared to the Golf. AND THAT IS NEW POLO MONEY!!! Yes, It looks fantastic on the outside, but who drives his car with his head sticking out of the window? And they still use the Dacia diesels on the 160d and 180d. So, where does all that money go to?

    • @VladT1000
      @VladT1000 Před 9 lety

      +Adam Conyers Both Urban and Style. I didn`t see the Exclusive pack but I don`t think there`s much difference. The lower lining and plastics are so harshand course. Actually if you look at min.42 you can actually see those jagged edges below the glovebox. And the joinigs on the center console. And the A/C rotary controls are so flimsy and they look like they came out of cereal boxes. What features they took over from the last C-Classe are good, but the rest... I don`t get it. And also, in Romania we have 24% V.A.T. and that blows up the price difference a bit, but it`s still a big difference.
