This was a brilliant review and first class camera work! I will be watching this channel a lot now, so thank you Thomas. I own this car (2017 model) and have done for over a year, so I wanted to say a few of my thoughts on it for anyone that might be interested in buying one.
First thing's first, this car is not expensive by performance car standards. Mine was £48k (about €57k) with lots of extras, looks utterly awesome and gives me 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. It's also AWD and whilst I totally agree it's not Mercedes finest interior, it's streets ahead of the interiors of other hot hatches / hot small saloons out there. I agree though, it’s not as good as a top spec C class.
You're looking at £70k minimum for a new C63 with a few basic extras and much more likely £80k with all the right stuff in there. So you just can't compare these cars (even though a lot fo people do). A hand assembled 2.0 engine with almost 400bhp is clearly AMG working its magic. Yep - it isn't a V8 monster with that burble. However, I always get comments in all walks of life about how awesome it sounds. I've had a few people say they don't like it too, so I get it's not for everyone. I also get 36mpg on the motorway but can keep up with / beat almost anything else you put against me, which I think is great.
Mine has 4 modes (Individual, Comfort, Sports and Sports+). Sports+ (auto) or Individual (manual auto) has lightning responsiveness and you just need to keep it above 2,500 revs (which you would be doing if you're going bananas in it). Otherwise just select comfort and it's tame(ish) and gear changing is slower and the turbo isn't so keen.
The final comment I have is that the ride is wayyyyy too hard and that is just bad news. Yes, there's almost no roll into the corners and it's completely planted which I love, but the ride is so firm that it's horrible for your passengers (and occasionally the driver). That said, it's a practical(ish), fast, marginally less hooligan orientated car than the A45 and has (imho) very appealing looks. Add AWD, decent interior, blinding performance and reasonable running costs, this is the perfect car for me. YES this car is a bone rattler, YES this car doesn't sound like a C63 and YES this car is expensive. However, if you have the money for this price bracket, want that Merc badge, wanted the fastest car in this segment (albeit the RS3 now has that for the time being), wanted a great interior and still have an awesome experience then I think the car is great.

It is mostly a good design that failed on final delivery.
IMO the grill logo is way too big, is as big as the headlight.
The three air vents are ugly, over designed, too much emphasis on an item that does nothing, but blow air.
The center panel has an insane amount of buttons, a digital display and more stylish pattern is a must. Just a square with tons of buttons, way too simple and stale, the opposite of the vents.
Manual sport mode can only shift from the paddles, no shifting from the shifter, very difficult when sport driving on turns.
I forgot, just noticed from the video, WTF, no hood shocks!? and if am correct, no keyless start mode, still need to insert keyfob and turn ignition.
And this is just me, I hate frameless doors, cheap.

It's very beautiful looking design , CLA IS very attractive from the coupe point of view , It does a hold a strong look as a Coupe in my view. I also believe the ride is more balanced than previous cars .

2 Weeks to go, then i will enjoy him for myselfs, i cant wait :( atm i drive the new BR213 E 200 Limousine, i will miss the E Class Interieur, but iam looking forward to drive AMG, i already had the older Version (not Facelift one) with 250 sport, but thats another Number :D, iam so excited to hear him Roar myself, cuz my E Class makes no Sound at all :P

It is a pity that has not been improved in how much height and access to the rear seats because it is really beautiful the car, very good exposure.

Thomas I've heard many people say the AMG suspension is more composed and comfortable than the normal CLAs. Why didn't they adopt those same changes over the entire range.

The 2-litre road-car horsepower race. Who's the first to 400hp? I timed you at 4.78s! At time 32:00 very good video edit showing us the road conditions at that point. Likewise at 32:55 and AEB warning - the audio can be quite alarming for passengers. I found the A-Class/GLA/CLA cabin much too cramped. Nice car though. New music! Superb Review. As always.

Hi Thomas great review in general but the interior is ghastly for a car that price,surely sustainable fabrics can be made to look far more attractive, this car is a direct rival to the new RS3 saloon,hopefully you will personally review this car as a comparison?

The CLA 45 Facelift is currently the best Mercedes aggressive-look wise. The best one all times is the C63 Black Series and Edition 507 from 2012-14.
The new designs are not aggressive at all, they're too round imho.
That is why I'm getting this CLA 45 AMG, mainly for its looks. Sure it doesn't have the best sound, but whatever!
When will we see a C63 / E63 with an agressive look like this CLA ? That's the one million dollars question.

My iphone timer got this at 4.6, definitely not very accurate given that all i could see was the digital numerical speedo. I stopped when it was at 98 given how slow that speedo updates :/

I wonder what 80's and 70's Mercedes designers, who are probably retired, think about this design.
I think the older designs are far more handsome and classic. This model's styling will date very quickly.

You rock!, i decided for the S3 over this one (having owned an A45), enough power, and it suites my tastes better, because it has the Virtual Cockpit :) and way better interior, and i think is quieter, because it does less noise from the exaust even on sport :), glad to hear that the suspension changes on this one are minor, because i would have fallen over this one, if it were more confortable, between S3 and this one, S3 is more confortable? (S3 does not come with magnetic ride neiter...)

Nice review Thomas. I wish car manufacturers would stick to calling 4 doors sedans and 2 doors coupes. I agree with the individual numbers, time to lose them as it is too much clutter and looks old fashioned.

Buying my CLA AMG MODEL 2018 one today in cavansite blue. Am I choosing the best colour or does anyone have any suggestions for colours other than the cavansite blue. I don’t like white , and not sure a silver one would show of the chrome . Colours I like are black, grey , blue and all of these will be metallic paint. Can anyone give some advice [ I can change the colour at a later date, so I value your opinions , Cheers from Luca .

Did you buy it? My 2016 is Mountain grey metallic. Really nice color and a nice contrast when you have the black exhaust tips.
Probably the most beautyfull from MB normal cars is CLA Shooting brake - it has really cool side profile! I don't know why, but strange, that there is no 2 doors version of CLA, it would be really sympathetic coupe, probably.
