Movie plot:
Headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon has her heart set on winning her neighbor Anthony Reilly's love. The problem is, Anthony seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer. Stung by his father's plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew, Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams.

I saw this movie right after my husband died, and loved every single bit of it. This song haunts me still, and I listen to it over and over again - tearing up every time. What a gift this movie was at such a sad time in my life. Emily Blunt's version is the best I've found, but I also love the rendition at the end of the movie (spoiler alert) where all the characters who've passed on in the movie join in. What a wonderful job Christopher Walken did in his role, too!

This might be my new favourite movie scene. Every time I watch it I notice something more exceptional. Brilliantly performed: not just Emily Blunt - who certainly does nail it - but Christopher Walken who gets a gold star for the emotion he communicates.

I'm Irish, never heard this sung live until one day when at the funeral for a young lady that passed away suddenly.
An old man with a great voice just started belting it out, with everyone in the graveyard joining in for the chorus for each verse. Blew me away

She excelled as the "second" Mary Poppins. Very believable and truly exceptional. And she is SO versatile. She was so different in The Devil Wears Prada. Versatility is often the key to success and Emily deserves every accolade she gets.

We played this at my Dad's funeral, it was my Granda's favourite song. Such a very special song.
One of my sister's favourite songs too. Every time I hear it I think of her and cry.
Came across this movie on Netflix a couple of weeks ago and was completely overawed by it, Found it so emotional that I couldn't stop playing the scene when she sang to Christopher Walken wild mountain thyme over and over with tears streaming down my face, probably one of the most moving songs ever, I have played just about every version of it and Emily blunt's version is far and away the best. I wonder how many watched it and didn't cry.

With the overblown Hollywood's so called love stories...this is something so special that it's breathtaking. Where I can actually breath easy and feel good about it. A beautiful country side themed story with simplicity but full of heart.....I am breathing easy.

I was on a flight last week and watched this little gem of a movie. I couldn't stop rewinding this song over and over again both here and when it is sung again at the end of the movie. It is a beautiful song and I absolutely loved that I stumbled upon this movie
Yeah. I'm not sure how I decided to rent it, but I watched it several times. I did find a little of the dialogue/accents hard to follow. My one criticism is the male lead. He's plenty likable,
and a good actor. But the characterization of the role did not fit an obviously well-heeled,
good looking guy as is he. Needed a good bit more roughhewn, even rube type. But
allowance has to be given for the considerable female audience, which would of course rather see this nice looking guy.
I have had exactly the same problem, I just cannot get it out of my head, I think I have played every version of this song, but I particularly like the massed pipes and drums playing it at the Edinburgh military tattoo.
This movie is one of my favorite movies. I watch it as often as I CD an Emily blunt is so real as are all the cast. It was not critically praised. I figured out why. There is no raw sex. No vulgarity. No violence no guns except to kill the crows. No buildings Being blown up. No zombies no serial killers. No wolk just a lovely story with beautiful scenery. Beautiful music and beautiful people

This song was written by my mums grandfather known as "m'da", my mum has just passed away and I'm listening to this song that meant so much to her not realising just how much it meant to so many people ❤ it was written as a love story to m'da's wife and 18 yr old daughter who had both passed away within a short period. I don't how we happened upon this movie, but it became a favorite of my wife and mine. And this scene brings it all back home. With her passing, this song continues to bring memories of the years (and tears) we shared. "...and when she passed, it twas like the birds lost their voices..." - no one can phrase a thought finer than an Irishman.
This is one of my favorite songs, and the natural way it's done here makes it beautiful.
