So not only is she a brilliant actor but a gifted singer as well. And so humble.
I'm an American and literally recall the first minute I saw Olivia Colman act, she is absolutely brilliant.
Me to, it was in the limited series The Night Manager.. I thought she was good in it soI looked her up and got the series Broadchurch from the library and was blown away
WTH has being American got to do w it? I'm American too, but live in Europe now & can find no connection for myself either... except that I've known the Brits since I was little (in the US) & much more often since living over here... in France ! 😊

Exact same for me! Saw her in Hot Fuzz and was like I love this quirky woman. Then Broadchurch hit and I was like holy shit, she's brilliant. And then everything else rolled out, and her interviews, her Oscar acceptance, just everything about her makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy and she's so precious and hella talented.
She's got to be one of the most nice and natural diamonds.

I'm an BIG admirer of Olivia, but it has to be said that at 1:19 the traces of auto-tune being used are obvious. This video can not be used to assess Colemans natural singing voice.
For those not knowing what auto-tune is, it is a signal processing technique that makes "everything" be in tune. The telltale sign of it being used is when someone singing goes from one note to another by "gliding through" all the notes in between (a glissando, in musical terminology). When that is put through auto-tune, especially an agressively applied/set one, the glissando instead becomes a very unnatural quick pitch change, with what I think of as a pop'ing character. An example is in the last chorus of Cher's "Do you believe in life after love". Same thing happens in this video, but less agressively.
Oh, give me a break. She was not auditioning. I was fun. Lighten up.

I love Olivia - mostly because she is prepared to go outside her comfort zone for others. She is a fantastic actress but still very down to earth and self-deprecating. ❤
She just seems genuinely likeable. You get the feeling, that when she is being interviewed, that this is her true self, warm, caring funny. I bet she’s great on a night out.

I'm **not** surprised whenever I see actors able to sing well. Most professional actors have taken formal training for their craft, and singing and vocal work are covered in many acting classes. All bases are covered in acting school.
