- Monty Python, Galaxy Song, with Professor Brian Cox and Theoretical Physicist Stephen Hawking (from 2:54)
Brian Cox tries to explain why he thinks the song is scientifically inaccurate. What do Stephen Hawking think about this? - Zábava
Monty Python is a gift to humanity
It sure is
yes
And the universe
Definitely
and beyond
After finding out how big of a fan Stephen Hawking was of Monty Python, I am so glad he got to do this with them. It made this even better. The greatest theoretical mind of the past 100 years in cosmology and astrophysics...was also someone who loved the Python just as much as his science. God rest his and Terry's souls.
And Graham's.
Guess what. All of the Python's are "Atheist", therefore you can take your "God" etc. and blow it, out, your Galactic Gastric Central Point. Rest, In Peace, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones and The Spanish Inquisition, not that i expect the Spanish Inquisition to Rest, In Peace.
@@ihavefallenandicantreachmy2113 Now who’s being pedantic?

I use theistic language poetically sometimes.
Even though theism is ridiculous foolishness
. . .And I think a lot of people do.
I wouldn’t read too much into someone saying god bless
Sometimes I feel proud to be British. Legends, the lot of them.
I love Stephen Hawking's part in this! He's fabulous!!!
He is one of those professors who didn't mind to make some jokes here and there. He will never be forgotten. May it because of Big Bang Theroy, Monty Phytons, The Simpsons (TV and the mobile game) or whatever. Thank you Monty Pythons for those wonderfull many years. :)
2:27 : those who say Monty Python is just for laughs never listened to that wisdom right there. Unlikely - yes, so absolutely, don't you feel great?
He's voice never changed it is stilL
BEAUTIFUL
Well yes, Stephen Hawking has a robotic voice. Course it never changes.
The world needs more Hawkings and more Pythons. . . . not fewer.
Ok, I lost it at Stephen Hawking.
finaly, you lost the best.
R.I.P Hawking
Scientists are rockstars
And as such, to us, a source of light.
They really are if you think about it
I love how he points to those clerics when singing "And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft..." :D
You mean the Spanish Inquisition?
The Volcano Worshpers Club
yeah
Well, I did not expect that :D
Which was a surpise because I wasn't expecting a Spanish Inquisition.
Rick Sanchez I loved that too.
"...cause there bugger all down here on earth." Is one of the absolute best lyrics written, ever.
madds mikkelsen looks a lot younger in the end huh
The Pythons are, and will always be, incredible! Even when they screw up, they're funny! AND THAT is what comedy is all about!
I will miss your sense of humor Mr. Hawking. R.I.P.
The part with Stephen Hawking going a driveby was hilarious XD
Discovered this on the 31st of December, 2019. What a great way to end the year! Thank you for posting.
Did you savor that moment?
The full show is on Netflix "live mostly."
That's typical of Stephen's sense of humour. Loved it. I wonder if the clip of him saying "You have the universe upside down" still exists.
All it was missing was the "so....can we have your liver then?" bit at the end.
This is just a bit of the best that Britain has to offer the world. It’s truly beautiful.
Came back here after I heard the news. We'll miss you Steven Hawking.
Perfect! 42 likes! 😁
The look they briefly exchange at 2:01 is particularly moving, spelling "so happy to be here together after so many years".
Vincent STEPHAN
I know! It really touched me.
Rest in piece Mr Hawking.
You will be missed
The Meaning of Life, is the underrated jem of the Monty Python films
I love Python so much. Comedic geniuses all. What are the odds that so much genius would come together like it did?
I am not much of a fan of Monty Python so much, but i LOVE Eric Idles songs. Wonderful stuff.
Lovely, cunning and gracious. British humour at its best.
Seriously-that key change in the instrumental break is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Idles greatest moment and it wasn't comedy!!
(And I CAN'T suss it out on my guitar..!)
I had chills when I first watched this, yeah.
It's B to Cdim7 to Bb, taking advantage of the fact that Cdim7 is just A9 with the root lopped off. You expect Cdim7 to resolve to Eb, then F7, then around the circle of fifths to end on G (which is not an unreasonable modulation, as the the interlude is in F#, and we are used to modulation up a half step from Broadway musicals). However, A9 does indeed resolve nicely to Bb, which sets up the big swell back to the verse. The emotional moment comes from the unexpected switch of Cdim7 into A9, which is in some sense the musical equivalent of a pun. So, in effect, Eric Idle just engaged in classic Python wordplay, but in musical form!
@@alaeriia01 Brilliant
Good bye Stephen. May you forever traverse the cosmos
Eric was right...no intelligent life on this planet!
Lily Saxerud
And Hawking!
Agreed. It's getting much worst as idiocracy continues to run its course. This songs basically foreshadowing lol.
This song plays a little in my head every single day.
Rip Stephen hawking
This song could have been the opening song for the Big Bang series.
That would have tainted the song
An old Yank here. Hats off to you Brits. Hip hip hurrah.
When Hawking calls you pedantic, you know you're in trouble!
FYI, even geothermal energy ultimately comes from the sun as ALL objects native to the solar system came from the sun.
Thank you for posting this
I love that Eric updated the facts in the lyrics, now I have to learn them all over again. Curse you, self righteous scientist!!
I have a few regrets. Things I shouldn't have done, things I should have done.
But I WISH I'd been there!
Pythons are part of who I am.
I love how he mixed up revolving and evolving here, so that that we're evolving at 900 miles an hour
But we ate technically
In a sense we are evolving......while travelling at 900 miles an hour.
Clint Black was how I heard this, but this is hilarious 😂 thank you!!!
What a mad team they are, godbless em all
Bless all and every Python.
Tremendous show.
this has helped me pass so many tests
My favorite song!
This is so amazing
thank you for that song
Go on Stephen you are the greatest
He didn't pass away, he just went home.
Thank you for entertainment that is worth watching.
that was awesome! lol loved it!
Brian Cox.. "So can we have your liver then?"
Very well done! So funny.
Wish I had been there 😍
I found this the most funny thing of the entire thing X'D I couldn't stop crying
It doesn't take much to make you cry, then?
with laughter ......
Wow, they even showed King's Bollege Bambridge..................Sorry, I can't say the letter B.
What a silly bunt!
@@quicksilver238 hahahaa
Well can you say the letter k?
@@j_onty Only after several pints of Watneys ''bleedin'' Red Barrel.
Monty python was and is the spirit of what people really wants. Breaking out of the prison that is not art. They wants us to underskud how wild and amazing life is. And that science destroys life if it goes to far. And in all its the true meaning of life.
Oh how I *LOVE* Carol Cleveland!!
RIP Professor Hawking :'(
Brilliant xxx
❤️❤️❤️
Why the lyrics change? Was it intentional or did he just forget? Or were the original stats wrong and so had to be corrected by Cox and Hawking?
Steve Forest Eric did change them because the facts of the universe have changed since 1983, but even so, Brian Cox still thinks they're inaccurate.
I can imagine C3PO singing this
What was Dr. Eggman doing the at the beginning?
Genius ❤
That was EXCELLENT. I mean. 100% brill
How can I put more than one "like" to this clip?
If eric idle passes away the earth will go up in FLAMES
LOVE THIS!!! JUST L O V E IT!!!
That moment when Python gets science bang on,
Play this at my funeral.
I want this song played at my funeral.
Rip Stephen Hawking, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, and Neil Innes
All way look on the bright side of life 😊
I did not expect the Spanish inquisition
Get 'em Stephen!
I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition in a video about the Galaxy Song
Superb.....And Brian Cox's and Stephen Hawking's contributions are pure genius....until the lady lifts Mr Hawking's arm up and waves it like Kermit The Frog.
ERIC IDLE BE THE COMEDY MASTER! FOREVER AND EVER!
1:54 La La Land - The Autumn Years
OMG this was the greatest thing ever! LOL!
I like the way he got nearly all the numbers wrong
How sad that Terry wasn't there for this dance...
I will always remember the lyrics to this, but I can't remember anyone's birthday.
BRAVO! BRAVO! :D
Fucking beautiful!
Is that Carol Cleveland?

RIP Professor Hawking. The Pontifical Academy of Sciences misses you.
Wow, They got the Hawk man to sing :-)
Rip Mr. Hawking
The false teeth really take you out of it. It's like Spock in Wrath of Khan once you here them it's game over.
This tune has the same notes as One Foot In The Grave :-)
...but not necessarily in the same order.
I Want MyLifeBack Well Eric did write that theme song aswell
RIP Steven Hawking
Legends 😂
At about 2:39, Eric Idle is about to lose it.
This is way cool...
Mooi, om niet te zeggen nice.
