This is my favourite monologue ever. I actually performed his monologue in my grade 10 performing arts class and got an A+ for it... it was a Catholic high school, everyone called me Toby after that for the rest of high school. 😆

This bit is priceless. I love it when he addresses "The French" and "lawyers" and I am a retired lawyer and have French genes on one side of my family. Using the name "Toby" is hilarious. Atkinson is one of the best comedic actors and overall funny person ever.
I liked the bit of the old version where he said: "And the Germans, could you please stand over there with the French? I'm sure you'll have plenty of things to talk about..."
Two parts of this sketch got me laughing hard. "Fornicators, could you step forward, please?" *scans the entire audience* "My God, there are a lot of you." "Those who have seen "Monty Python's Life of Brian" *entire audience goes wild to say they have seen it* "I'm afraid God can't take a joke after all."
I always get excited when I come across a new version of this classic routine as I can’t wait to see who else he has damned to Hell. Once, again, I wasn’t disappointed.
Nobody does more with just a clipboard than Rowan Atkinson. The updates to this piece work. “The French” will be funny for all eternity, which I believe is the point.
I always think the teacher sketch he did is a massively underrated sketch. I mean he just stood there and read out a list of names and I laughed my head off.
How have I never heard this monologue before? His delivery is great, judging by the other comments, he has been performing it for a while, but it still holds up well. Rowan Atkinson is the best.
When I was teaching in China my Chinese students loved Mr Bean. A tribute to how well Rowan Atkinson's silent humour and expressive facial contortions overcome the limitations of language.
The most funny thing is that the other time he performed this he also said “adulterers over here, but when princes Charles& Camilla are watching, he left out that part.
Oh Gosh! Tell me is there any end to this guy's shear genius!? No matter if he remains silent or speaks he will always make you laugh till your ass off, that's for sure!

I'm an American, and personally I found his comment about us hilarious. When he made the comment about the founding fathers, I said, "yeah, unfortunately it is true in this day and age."

Tom Ellis would a Trip to play Toby! LOL! I've seen all 6 Seasons of Lucifer enjoyed and laughed at the same time with him playing that Role! LOL! If the BBC ever offered him the Role of the Master in Doctor Who, I think he would be a Choice for the Role in my opinion.
The mark of a true actor is their ability to act on stage more than it ever will be their ability to act on camera. On stage; you get one shot. If you screw up, you best hope the stage is high enough that the fall will put you out of your misery.

Yes, the original is better. But this man is funny in a unique way. I really don't think there is any comedian out there right now, that can match Rowan's physical humor or his exceptionally strong prose and delivery. It saddens me, that comedians nowadays don't appreciate the power of a subtle, but well written narrative.(not saying this particular bit is subtle in any way)
