    I have the original 1.1. I bought it from HK in 2012. Still my go to for stress free flying. Tough as nails, bullet proof.

    I love the Bixler, even after 40 years of experience it's still my go to model. I have the mk 2 that is a bit slower than the 1 so better for total beginners and the additional advantage of having flaps as well

      1st upgrade i did on my version 2 was motor upgrade and that was while i was learning to fly but it did help on windy days and hand laughing it.
      After launch most of time i fly it on half throttle

    I bought a Bixler 1.1 just before Christmas 2018 and as you said it's a great flyer for all skill levels I'm an advanced flyer but the Bixler is rapidly becoming one of my favourite models as you can really through it around it's very forgiving, as for the the lack of skid I ran a piece of glass tape underneath from front to back to protect the foam bottom, if the tape gets a little worn it's easy to replace.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 5 lety

      I'm so pleased you like it too. It's one of those models that just puts a smile on your face and so easy and forgiving to fly too. Happy flying!

    Hi. Thanks for this review. I still flight my BIX3 almost all weekend and publish my videos about what a I learn with him and all can learn too. It's a great RC Airplane to learn, I say that in all my videos. The fact of BIX3 have landing gear is advantage in my opinion to learn to do great landings. And have Flaps... Be welcome and again, thanks very much for this review, best regards!

    I got to play with one of these again this morning. Absolutely love it. It's been added to my wish list in 2nd place (I still want an Orbit) but it was close to getting top spot
    _Strangely, unlike most reviewers, you didn't mention how quiet it is for a Bixler_ :D

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 6 lety +1

      At he distance I fly planes most of them are quiet ;) I only tend to comment on park flyer volume as those are the ones most likely to cause offence if too loud. Happy flying!

    Thanks for all the great RC videos, only just getting back into the hobby.
    Which would you suggest as a first model for getting back into it all, the Bixler 1.1 v2 or the Bixler 2?
    Struggling to decide, I like the option of being able to add flaps and landing gear on the 2, but then with the 1.1 being newer, parts may be available for longer. Last question, is one quieter than the other?Thanks

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 5 lety

      Either would be an excellent choice - it comes down to the desire for flaps or landing gear. I’d expect both to be about for a few years yet! :)

  • @NoFlyDrone
    @NoFlyDrone Před 5 lety

    I'm enjoying your videos a ton. I just got a Bixler 1.1 V2 for my first R/C plane without stabilization (I fly multirotors primarily). I maidened it today and it seems to be constantly porpoising at any speed. The control surfaces appear to be visually level. I am using a Frsky x9D Plus, Frsky X8R receiver, and a Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 35C lipo stuffed as far forward as possible. I have spent 2 batteries trying to get it under control but she just wants to climb, then stall. No matter what speed. I can somewhat control it by holding a steady elevator stick forward but it is still very wild. I have tried applying trim to elevator and even at max trim still porpoises. Any advice?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 5 lety +1

      Sounds like the COG isn't in the right place.. I'd look at that and reset the trims on the radio.. Best of luck! See my video on how to make a fixed wing easier to fly too..

    Hello, I am a new subscriber to your youtube channel and also new to this hobby. You said in your video that you may want to add flaps to the Bixler, but I am not sure what you meant. Do you mean that you will have the ailerons working as flaps or actually adding flaps to the plane? Can you link me to your video showing this is done?

  • @bogusbandit3700
    @bogusbandit3700 Před 6 lety +1

    The main problem with the Bixlers is that they drop their nose when power is applied. This can make launching very difficult for beginners.

I went to H-King website to look at the price for a complete bag of goodies. (A Bixler 1 with the necessary accompaniments). Next I see you have uploaded another video, this one! Thanks. Hello, forgot to ask as well, on hobbyking website the only available Bixler 1.1 available is the one with the 30 amp ESC the one with the 20 amp ESC has been sold out. Is there a reason that most times the Bixler with the 20 amp ESC is usually sold out before the 30 amp version? Is the 20 amp version better although all the other specs remain the same?

      Plenty of videos about about all the the bixler models and loads of upgrades can be done with them i did have version 2 long story why not got it so replaced it with version 3 which i prefer for 3 reasons one is how the wing is held in place
      2) detachable under carriage which needs bigger wheels then provided for grass take offs
      3) comes with FPV camera pod replacement for cockpit cover

    I watched this video twice, and read thru the .pdf operating manual, but one thing that doesn't seem to get addressed is the transmitter to be used. I think you said (and the way my pad works I can't go back into the video to verify once a comment is started) you are using a freesky. I find this whole freesky, flysky, spektrum, opentx, betaflight stuff very confusing. In order to fly this plane, is a certain brand of transmitter required ?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 6 lety

      If you’re new to this then please watch the videos in the ‘Introduction to remote control’ series where I cover basics like that.. best of luck!

    • @youpattube1
      @youpattube1 Před 6 lety

      As always, thanks for responding. I have watched your entire series at least twice. But either I have missed a main point, or I am not making myself clear in this example. In this video, you apparently just grabbed a random transmitter and it worked immediately with the bixler. And the bixler .pdf doesn't say a word about the transmitter.
      Is the receiver in the plane some kind of universal receiver, or is there no difference in any of the brands of transmitter ? Just grab any kind and it will bind with the bixler ?

    • @richardlong3615
      @richardlong3615 Před 6 lety +2

      The Bixler doesn't come with any sort of receiver. You have to provide one and it needs to be one that will receive transmissions from your transmitter. In order to fly this plane you will need at least a 4 channel receiver but probably a 6 channel will be better. So if you have a Spectrum transmitter you should use a Spectrum receiver and so on. I hope that helps.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 6 lety

      Those videos that I've already pointed to you will answer these questions. Or you can Google search for 'simple plane setup painless360' find my video on it (that's actually part of that series). Sounds like you've new so dont feel overwhelmed as a little research and some work following the instructional videos on this channel should help you get started..

    • @youpattube1
      @youpattube1 Před 6 lety +1

      That was the part I didn't understand - I thought the plane came with a receiver. Now it all makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

    I just bought this bixler and my aileron servos are both twitching when power up, what can I do to remove the twitching?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 5 lety

      I'd let Hobbyking know if it's a brand new model. You can disconnect the servos from the ailerons and flex the hinge to help them move easier and remove the stress from the servos.. Best of luck

      I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but am aware that although they may have a power disadvantage, ie less current handling, they do allow longer flights for people wishing to do long range fpv. I'm expecting to be corrected on this but it seems to be the way forward for long range fpv 🙂
