    Availability is an issue here in COVID-Emergence times of Q2 2021. Stock is short on most items for us in the US who have to have things 'now!'
    Bix3's are out so I just put together an order for a Bix 2 - they only had the ARF's, no PNP's. So, I had to order all the bits and bobs to get it together, myself.
    I have FPV parts sitting somewhere here and this will be my first FPV plane. Little late to that game, been 7 years I have been wanting to do that.
    Great comparison video, much enjoyed and appreciated.

    looks good. Perfere a belly lander myself, I always manage to rip the undercarriage off at some point and it's one less point of failure for me to worry about during some of my less than gentle landings!

    I agree with everything you say but for me the difference is in where/when you fly and how you fly. The Bix 2 is great in fairly low winds and can do minor "stunting" The Bix 3 is better in stronger winds and can flung about harder. I like floating about so would choose the Bix 2 every time (out of the two in question)

    Bixler 2 for general flying. FPV get a cloud surfer. For wheels get the Tundra-Touchngo that thing all day.

    I own the first version of the Bixler2 and Bix3. Still have the Bixler 2 after three years of flying. It's been a great plane. My Bix3 not so much. Like another commenter, the motor sounds like a metal grinder. It's also horribly tail heavy. Have to put a 2800Mah in it to fly it. Tip stalls easily. The motor keeps the plane level. When I let up on the throttle, it will raise up and try to stall. Not a fan of the Bix3. Motor replacement for either is difficult.

    love the new colour schemes on the re launched bixlers :D. I've had experience with both the bixler 2 and 3. I got the 3 first and was pretty good but the stock motor in it was terrible, super loud and a ton of vibration and there was a bit of movement in the wings after a while (its had many many crashes, broke the wing and the fuselage in half twice lol. it still flies though). I prefer the bixler 2 cause its a much simpler design (the wing joining part of the bixler 3 was the bit that caused me the most bother) and I found the 2 to be a bit more stable and predictable. Anyway, I'm now building one of the new bixler 2s and I'm going all out with fpv, head tracking, and inav with GPS :D

    Nice quick and clear comparison. I have several Bix 1 planes and have a Bix3 kit in my "to build" area. Though I have flown several Bix 3's, I'm curious about your views of the Bix3's tendancy to do tip stalls when flying at low speed and turning. I'm guessing installation of the flaps will help, but I'm also curious if you know of any mods to its structure that can help correct this problem. Thanks for any suggestions. - Jim

    Near the end of the video you said you wouldn't necessarily use a Bixler with a flight controller, with iNav. What kind of plane WOULD you use for slow flying with iNav?
    The Bixler 3 seems to have a lot of room, and I figured by leaving the landing gear off the weight would end up near stock. (Removing the weight of the landing gear, adding the weight of camera and FC).
    Anyway, what would you recommend for long duration slow flight with iNav and FPV?

    Hi Lee - great video. Just got a Bixler 2 kit and now trying to find a motor for it. Not as easy as I thought! Kit says 2620-1300kv brushless but everywhere I look they seem to be discontinued. Any suggestions on a better motor perhaps that fits?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 6 lety

      I'd get a battery pack that has a similar voltage to the one that you're already using, figure out what flight time you're getting from the existing LIPO battery pack and figure out how much bigger the new LI-ION battery has to be to get the 30 minutes you're after. Best of luck!

      The Ranger/FPVRaptor V2 is not a beginners plane like the billers. it's big, and heavy, and it's difficult to launch almost requiring a second person to launch or a stabilizer. great plane, but not in the same class as these.
